- These 2 Bush DAB Radios were sold on eBay as faulty, no power.
Let's crack them open and see what's wrong! And, of course, try to fix them!
Hope you enjoy!
Steve
PS. I'm not an expert in repairs at all. I do this for fun, and it may not be the best or safest way to go about repairing broken stuff. I'm pretty good at melting plastic though. Please don't copy me - I'm an idiot.

Stupid Little Bushes
@StezStixFix that's what she said :D anyhow LIKE is given, hello from Bosnia and Herzegovina my internet friend :D p.s. finnaly rap song again
That's how I feel about the children of former US President George Herbert Walker Bush.
Well as they say a bird in hand is worth two in the bush
😂❤
This makes me crack up
One working Bush DAB radio in the hand is worth two broken DAB radios in the Bush.
I am new on this channel how he does the music, AI or something?!?!
@@geografiainfinitului its edited onto the video before he releases it)
@@MhWow66 Does he produce it himself or is AI produced?
@@geografiainfinitului I'm just guessing here, but: he's been doing this years before all that AI music stuff ever was a thing, so 🤷♂😁... Plus, those things aren't bad, but they still go weird enough in places to make it pretty obvious it's AI - this is all his own work 😁...
@@geografiainfinitului i'm pretty sure the whole video is AI generated.. the guy looks fake...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA that story when you tried the first one killed me. still laughing at the face you made lmao
There are countless millions of devices that have a broken micro USB (probably the single most destructive dodgy part on the planet). To test them next time, have them both listen to the same station and see if they are in synch.
My Dad had a radio in every room of the house and all of them on all day. It was fine in analogue days but when he started to use DAB, it was like walking through a weird echo chamber as none of them could synch with the others.
How would a faulty micro USB disturb the sound output
It was reference to DAB radios, regardless of the fault.
No beatin' around the bushes with these repairs!! 👍
😅 why didn't I think of that one!
I am absolutely loving your videos. You have inspired me. I have a huge amount of "manure" heading my way for my Steve inspired workshop. It is amazing how your confidence and CZcams skills have grown through the 3+ years. I have many projects and a Stezstixfix workshop ready I just hope my skills can match yours. I love the logical problem solving vids the most. Keep up the fantastic work.
By the way I adore and appreciate the singing. A real skill. I want to come meet you in your pub in Bolton.
@@StezStixFix Probs because of the bush in the way. XD
Great fix, love the shocked face when the lady said about the R ….. keep up the good work 😊
That 1st radio test and the look of sheer horror on your face has now been seared in to my memory. 🤣
I learned the old-fashioned lessons from this repair.
The R-word indeed 😂
Radio 4 Extra really pushing the "Extra"
I find myself singing your intro songs for hours. My family asks me what the heck is Monkey Joe Tokyo. I just tell them, dont worry about it.
Just goes to show.. A repair by the Hands is worth 2 working Bushes. (I'm here all week...)
BTW Rap Challenge... set one to REM = It's the End of the world.... :D
😅 that does sound like a challenge! Although I fear I'd get a copyright strike for that one! Maybe I could just do it in the outro 20-second bit! 🤔
That tune at the start is top notch especially when the guitar kicks in!! Great work as usual.
what? That rap? Thats the sort of thing you did when you were a kid.
The jumpscare was real! Oh Deborah Orr, i do hope you're alright, but i have to admit I laughed. Great fixing them bushes!
Small monochrome segmented or matrix LCD displays are so nice and energy efficient. I wish more devices had them.
Oooh fancy! we have aluminium tape today, not aluminum
I’m not always drawn in by the devices you’re fixing but can’t miss the rap section !!
Come one Steve how did you miss the chance to sing pulp lyrics” her name was Deborah it never suited ya”
Definitely in the top 3 raps. And yes I'm one of the few who don't skip! :D
Love the " noodling " guitar in the Patreon rap👍
You're certainly a DAB hand with these. I shrubbed my shoulders thinking you won't beat about the bush fixing these. All that DABbling paid off though and if I had to Hedge my bets, I was certain USBeat my predictions and Bushed the boat out on these.
Nice Def Leppard at the end
Your true calling.... to start a def leppard cover band!
Would love to hear the rest of the cover from the end of the video!
Hay Steve thank you for your content, I enjoy your videos so much thank you.
'Solid' effort Steve. Well done!
Doing that fine work under the Microscope ...its like watching a surgeon at work....well. .nearly.
without the blood.
@@goku445 That was the last video.
you have the coolest music of any person I watch on CZcams.
Just found you in my algorithm from the Cambridge audio video.
Not gonna lie, as a Northern England lad your name made me laugh, something something Macclesfield.
Love the video, subscribed. Greetings from down the road in Oldham.
Your face after listening to the radio 😂😂😂
Awesome work, Stez! I feel like I learn more from watching your channel every time.
Your repair videos are very chill and relaxing. Thank you
That's gotta be worth two in the bush.
Great fix video, been watching since the Firefox repair and loving the new viewing angles so we can see the mat etc
Those DAB radios were easy fixes. But you made it look very easy since you had the parts. Good one Steve.
And the steady hands 😂
I actually like the music you make for these videos it's unique 👌
The music was on point today!!! 👍👍
Every one likes a little Bush
justin...most women under 45 don't...my ex gf started shaving it all off by the late 90's...as it became popular to do...mostly from porn influence
Loved it as always.
Recently became a subscriber and you are now one of my favourite channels. Thank you for the amazing content, the honesty, and the hatred toward electronics (mainly in the "stupid little...." )comments at the end. All the videos I have watched have been funny and informative in equal measure. And thank VOS for me too :)
Double Bush sounds like a 1970's bongo magazine
You can get extra low melting point solder for taking devices off boards, even lower than leaded solder. Also get some ceramic tweezers for removing resistors and caps, they don't suck the heat away and they don't leave metal on the ceramic of the caps. Chip Quik is a good low melting point solder, wick it off removal though.
sticks stez bricks love the fix mix
Best intro music yet, get on that uk jazz vibe for real
The music over the patreon bit is called Norrliden by an artist called Hatamitsunami
4:20 Micro USB ports!? Bin! 🤣
ive got a ring flash id like you to fix for me, good vid i would like to use it again thanks
Ste have you thought of starting a channel along side your usual channels explaining the basics of what you are doing?...I have been pulling stuff apart to find out how it works since the 80s...Back then they didn't celebrate inquisition. I'd certainly like to know your thought process and method of fault finding
Nice fix.
I have been waching you funny but fastening videos now for a few weeks going though your back catalogue ! . so it's made me want to have a go my self !! I have just stripped down Acer tablet to look in to the charger point ,looks easier to change to small board , so if you can help point me in the right direction for parts that would be much appreciated ,and I will up date you if I get it working.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks.
Rob.
I love your videos. I'm addicted to them.
good job!
I was expecting the closing song to be Photograph, still loved it though!
Nice fix
I propose that wherever possible you replace those ports with USB-C ones.
I've watched many of your videos now & think you'd have better results with a desoldering station/wick rather than that hot air station. Great video as always.
Name of the retrowave music with the vocoder during the repair? Awesome!
Love a little bush
Good job... Enjoy your video's.
Question please.. I hear you say"add some leaded solder". In manufacturing did they use a different type of solder? Not leaded?
Thanks in advance.
Enjoy the videos, very addictive. When I think of the gear I have tipped over the years.....and if I had been a lecky not a mechy. Wiggly amps always scared me.. Can you tell me does a battery acid contaminated remote control constitute a repairable? Its for a 10 cd multichanger in my car replacements of which only live in China
Steve just quick question what flux are u using. The flux i use dosent clean that well
Good work! What flux do you use?
Wow, you totally missed the opportunity for some Kate Bush karaoke at the end there!
Hey Steve.. I am wondering which flux you are using for your repairs? Your channel motivated me to start learning soldering. But I don‘t really know which flux I should use..
I need to hear a full karaoke of Pour Some Sugar On Me now! 🤣
Thanks YyouTube algothythm (yup - stupid spelling) - not sure how I stumbled upon this but I'm completely hooked - now where's my multimitah :)
Raffle them...competition them etc?...great vids btw! Did an i-star dab radio today P/N P100679... no sound...8 pin smd...cant remember the part number as threw the blown one in bin...good wee radio!
Loved the old fashioned video 😂
Nice fix as always Captain! 🫡
What happened to the slot car video?
It would be great swaping thoes ports to usbc
Hey Steve, I've been looking for some miniscule pliers for quite a long time. Are you using tweezers there or some tiny pliers?
Can I ask where you get your leaded solder from, please?
Deborah Orr was a journalist from Motherwell. She died a couple of years ago sadly.
Hi, I have a truck nav sat nav that I bought at auction won't charge, do you want to give it go and have a look at it?
I use mine often 😁👍
Cool, what flux do you use
nice to see BUSH have maintained their build quality, use to sell their stuff 35 yrs ago and it was shite then as well.
Must be doing something right if they’re still going after all this time 😂
Do more game related stuff steve! Seems like if youre doing items you dont want or need may as well do items that people have more connection to. I always learn something on every video, tho
these are not just Bush DAB radios from Argos...these are Bush model NE2059 20 quid pocket radios from Argos...because i own one too...and now expecting the micro USB to break away...i can't wait...i'll just copy paste Steves PO Box address in the description ready
@ 4:08 - can highly recommend the Engineer SS-02 Solder Sucker for jobs like this 👍
Nice
I just checked 2 minutes ago if you had uploaded a new video ^^
We need a solid compilation
I wonder if any cost reduction from omitting pads for the data pins was worth it, re. durability of the port!
That was a really nice song playing when you were soldering, what is the name of it?
Solid.
Fun story that happened to me yesterday.....
i recently bought a digital microscope to be able to do repairs just like you Steve...
yesterday i "choosed" to throw it on the floor (stupid charging cable, tangled to my chair)
of course it ripped the usb micro charging port of the board.....
AND I DIDN`T HAVE A MICROSCOPE TO HELP ME REPAIR IT!!!!!
STUPID MICROSCOPE.......
Im surprised you have had no complaints about handling so much Bush on CZcams and being so brazen about it. Standards man! And the second port…good lordy lord. That needs re porting too.
Wow they really skimped out on the soldier with those things.. ha
At 4:15 you can see that both GND and D+ pins are missing.
So your ground only runs through the metallic receptacle. AFAIK all cables ground the shell to share a common ground with the other device (or host or device) and avoid so called machine ESD. That said you ought to replace this conenctor anyway.
OK I can get behind you singing hair metal bands!
I had a white Bush (DAB) which worked well, but really aged quickly in the sunlight. I'd had a little nub but that went a bit yellow and horrible after about a year.
The double entendre is strong with this one.
I think its super interesting, not just you, that people always announce that they're using Isopropyl Alcohol. Nobody ever mentions the type of flux theyre using, or type of solder, but if its the cleaning product, its ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, lets not forget!
@StezStixFix Would it be possible for you to show the tools and equipment, and things like the books of resistors ect, ect to help people who would like to go in this direction with links where to get supply of components ?
Link to full Def Leppard song please :)
Can i have one of those Bushes? Just thought I's ask, I really like the look of them
How much for one of them? Do you put these back up on the bay?
A stezstixfix is worth two in the Bush
would have been awesome if kate BUSH came on the radio lol
'Wick Away'.........Wasn't that a song by Big Country lol
Where do you get your background music from ? I'm really into the synth wave stuff you've been using lately!
The music over the patreon bit is called Norrliden by an artist called Hatamitsunami
Nice 😎
