    Thanks for the good video. Just a couple notes: the manual recommends you change the crush washer each time on the drain bolts. Second I usually leave my pan off till I fire the engine so to better spot leaks. Thanks for showing us how.

    Thank you so much for posting this Woodzman, I am clueless about bike maintenance and need to catch up fast because me and my girlfriend have agreed to travel 2up to Mongolia from the UK (8000 miles) on 1st May 2017! What I need to know next is how to clean/change the air filter on my AT then how to drain the fuel, then how to change the brake pads and then, maybe you could change a tyre for us or at least tighten the chain; I am sure there will be more requests so ignore me if you don't have time but thank you very much in advance if you can. @@WOODZMAN Just bought 2019 model Africa Twin in the red, white and black and couldn't be happier with it . In regards to oil , I have found in my experience that the basic older style engines or even those with not so high compression ratios prefer to take a liking to the mineral oil . I think higher compression , performance engines like the thinner synthetic oil as it aids power delivery ? Just ordered a full set of Altrider crash bars and was trying to decide on colour of their bash plate . Think you made a wise choice in the black one on your bike as I will now too buy one in black . Keep up the good work with videos as I find them very informitive and helpfull . Watching from Australia and see ya later hey .

    easy peasy, as usual from Honda. but something is telling me that the valve check is a bit of a pain because if i'm not mistaken to check and change the tappets on the inlet side you have to remove the cams. the exhaust should be a problem.

      @@WOODZMAN Appreciate the reply. But there are thousands of ATs out there approaching the age where they need plugs replaced . . . or at least checked.

    What do I need to do this?

  • @daveogle4239
    @daveogle4239 Před 5 lety

    run the bike for 3 min then check the level after 3 min sitting. You need to fill the filter up with oil. Go ahead and put in 4.5 us quarts total.
    I have the CRF 1000A (non DCT) and use exactly 4.0 us quarts of 15w-50 Mobile 1 synthetic, then add .5 us quarts of Lucas synthetic stabilizer.
    I get the best performance out of her when using this. Better compression and sealing on the rings and valves. Using Diesel specific oil also, people have had good luck using that; like Rotella, Delvac, etc. Heavyweight 15w40, 15w50 etc. thick and gooey is what she wants...
    Also some other helpful info:
    The oil fill cap is notorious for vibrating off when riding. There is an aftermarket fill cap that has a wire ran through it to secure it. Find it at www.procycle.us
    Also from procycle you can get magnetic drain plugs. I also attach a magnet to the filter on the front, after installing it. Pull the magnet and put it on the new one during oil changes.
    replace Hondas aluminum crush gaskets on the drain plugs with copper ones...
    Best performance mods bang for the buck: drop 1 tooth on the countershaft sprocket, and get rid of the catalytic converter and muffler. Get a fully open exhaust with a GP type muffler. 2 bros. racing is the one I got. Fully titanium. Sounds badass, nasty and bike runs cooler, way more responsive and better top end.
