I've just received my BA certificate and earned the CIMA Cert BA designation, I'm very much elated by that and super pumped to move forward as well. I passed E1 last year and I want to finish my Operational Level this year.

Amazing video! You may have mentioned it and I missed it but in terms of becoming a management accountant is it possible to become a management accountant straight after a BSc in Accounting (like get into a training management accounting role) or do you have to start in financial first? Asking because management interests me far more and if it was available as a starting graduate position I would take it in an instant

Should I study directly through the CIMA route or study a BCom Financial Accounting then go through CIMA to become a CGMA ?
You start with the certificate level which is not complicated if you have some very knowledge of bookkeeping, school level maths , again not too high level, and have technical mind.
Hi great vid. Im aspiring to be a management chartered accountant like you. I’m currently in year 12(sixth form). Did you do any work experience related to this field in year 12 or 13. Im really struggling to find good work experience for accounting so that i have stuff to write about on my personal statement. Also if you dont mind me asking, what was your career pathway straight after A levels. Im ngl im a bit clueless onto what i should do.
Hey mate - don't sweat it. There isn't really a career path into accountancy, I've known people with all degrees end up in Accountancy. I studied Business with Finance but if you want the most valuable then I recommend an Accountancy & Finance degree. You'll get multiple exemptions from CIMA meaning you can become Chartered a lot quicker :)

I need some advice. I am stuck between either doing accounting or marketing as a career. If I do accounting I will either do tax or management accounting. I want to pursue an accounting degree because it can lead to many other non accounting careers and the pay is quite high, however marketing seems more fun and less stressful. What are some benefits I will have if I end up choosing the accounting path over the marketing path? Also I dont want to have to do another 4-5 extra years of study after university so if I end up going the accounting route should I do CA or CPA? Also what are some benefits and negatives of public vs private accounting?
All good questions but only one you can answer yourself through research. I have no idea about Marketing and therefore wouldn't be right person to advise!
Hey man, I’m stuck between two world, either go uni and study to become a charted accountant or do a apprenticeship degree. Asking for ur opinion on both.
For me it was a no brainer! But uni wasn't as expensive as it is now... Depends if you want the uni experience or want to earn money asap?

I'm searching for graduate schemes that offer cima. The only problem is they there's a very small amount that actually offer cima. When you finished uni how did you get a job that offered cima? Was it a entry level role? Thanks
I searched for roles that offered CIMA on the job description & applied. I guess I got lucky! All CIMA offering roles will be entry level. Hope that helps!

Depends what you mean by ‘train’. Once a week? Yes. 4-5 times? No way 🤣🤣 unfortunately the exams take over 😂

Of course you can - it's hard work but certainly do-able!
I don't believe in strategy, just work hard, cover the full syllabus, learn it all & when you feel ready, sit the exam! :)

My preference has always been Mac, but honestly, they’re as good as eachother nowadays! Especially for what you’ll need for a degree!

All businesses will have a month end cycle and the majority of roles will be involved in a level of capacity :)

what laptop would you recommend
for accountants
Honestly I don't think it matters as long as the performance is sufficient. I've always been a Macbook fan & has always served me well. The new M1 Macbook airs are fantastic value for money!

Nope! CIMA qualified - would only be able to sign off accounts up to £5.6M GBP. Just sharing my learnings from my Management Accounting career to the world 😅
I'm about to study accounting at uni....Why does an accountant need two laptops and a monitor??
You don’t 😂😂 note I’m in full employment so have a work & a personal laptop. You’ll learn through a career in finance that you’ll need multiple windows open at once, two monitors are a lifesaver!
