What sad about this story is that when you mention Harlem what comes to my mind is black culture, food, art music walking with my mom, when I was young and just seeing diversity walking further and walking into Spanish Harlem those trips in the summer were priceless my mom would make day trip and we would eat different foods and experiences the vibe my mom always told me you don’t have to take a plain to explore different cultures that’s what I love about New York.

I respect Wendell Pierce. I recall working at a Baltimore apartment community in the early 2000s, when Mr Pierce was on The Wire. Hurricane Katrina had just ravaged NoLa and his family property. He was scheduled to move into my apartment community, but we spoke about his situation. I believed him to be honest and I canceled the apartment (which we had fully furnished for him) to give him some grace to deal with the mess in his family’s home. He seems to be a stand up guy.

Can we know which apartment building and management company was the one that refused to rent the apartment to your family.? they cannot be protected from the wrath that should come their way. Yes, my father had the same experience after hes time served in the army. He was a tec 5. My dads story was fought war and only to come back home ro have to go to the back of the line. The pain in ky dads eyes....when telling us his story all of those years he kept guiet... My dad just died 2021 at the age of 97.

because of The Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act (HSTPA) of 2019, it is illegal to take more than one month's rent payment in advance. What Wendell offered is illegal in the first place

It’s a shameful past and present day is not much better.
What little advances that have been made are being rolled back. Not just in African American rights but in other segments of our society as well, stealth attacks on basic rights and liberties which run contrary to the spirit of the Constitution.

that housing situation is so common. had the same happen in Illinois. offered 6 months in advance and the lady was all ohh I have to check with my husband 😒. saved me grief and loads of headache thinking back

He killed family and friends with his ineptitude in handling COVID. He appointed justices that overturned settle laws, making it possible to deny women certain health care. He gave a permanent tax cut to his wealthy friend while signing into law an expiring tax cut for the poor. These acts led to the biggest deficit the US is ever had. The justices are passing laws brought to court where no one was harmed, which means the people who file the case didn't have standing. These are just a few things President Trump did.

About five years ago I was living in Public housing 'LIONS COMUNITY MANOR' on Market Street in San Diego. One day I asked 'why are there about 100 Chinese residents here but NO Blacks?' I was evicted and made homeless at age 72. I sued them and found that the President of the owning corporation was a San Diego junior Judge, PETER SINGER, (a court commissioner elected by the other judges). I lost the case. So I sued all of the judges in Federal Court -and lost again. I presume the illegal discrimination continues.

You can check up on what I said by looking up 'Peter Singer' and 'Lions Community Service Corporation' Board of directors. Peter Singer was president in 2018: he is no longer president, but the court-Singer connection is preserved-for payouts ad protection presumably

I had a similar experience in Atlanta with an apartment complex I was applying for to house my college age daughter. Since I retired, I couldn’t list an employer so my application process took a different turn. I had to show proof of assets and I initially got declined but when I offered to pay in full they accepted but rented to us monthly anyway. Strange but we were able to get it. My only problem is Mr Pierce is not calling out the apartment in Harlem by name. Maybe he’s got the attorney general on the case but he seems credible and telling the story is not good enough if you’re not naming names.
He’s not naming names because he’s lying. He could help other blacks avoid his alleged situation

Is it possible for the Fearless Fund to become a private venture? How does that work? Not my area of expertise but, I'm willing to do the work to learn.
My son and I experienced this, which is now why I am trying to retire sooner than I planned so I can fight against housing discrimination and help him get property of his own young so he can build his own legacy without their acknowledgement or co-sign. I offered to pay 1 year in advance repeatedly to several properties, and the craziness is the person engaged with us, and taking our application money were both black. 😢

First of all, per The Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act (HSTPA) of 2019, it is illegal to accept more than one month's rent payment in advance so what he offered is illegal. What rental companies care about the most is the credit history/score and the continuous/consistent employment history. What Wendell provided is illegal and he's acting as a cosigner/guarantor which most rental companies don't prefer over regular rental-paying tenants.
Not crazy about media but I'm a fan of Pierce. It's easy to listen to his melodious voice founded on the truth, and nothing but the truth. Very few can compare on media.

We’re not having the “color” for the currency, aside from this ;black women and black men have to unify their struggles , whatever they do to the black man will be visited against black women therefore we need to be one, most of the money for “minority “ businesses goes to white women who in turn share their wealth with white men. For us to be strong we have to first be one , strengthen our families , share our wealth and quit letting them divide these pots and then ultimately take it away.
