To back comb or not to back comb? What do you think?
I think in my hairstyling days I would’ve brushed out first, done a light back comb throughout ( whole head like you did), then brushed out. I don’t know if this would’ve held more if the wave patterns in for you or not. I would’ve done that more for a time saver, but I loved the way this turned out and it looked super authentic and sweet! It’s amazing what you can achieve when you put all the effort in!
It's such a gorgeous do but I'd have zero patience for that!
Not gonna lie, it look a long time. Not exceptionally long sure, I mean, I guess if you were adept at it it could be do-able on the daily but I was pooped by the end of it!
Your teasing makes you look like you just stepped out of the 80s lol x
Yeah, kinda. I think it actually looks not too bad on camera, in real life it was A MESS.
I am LIVING for the sound effects 🤣. I absolutely love this style and it looks fantastic!!!
Thank you so much my favourite nurse! 😂💕

You know it!
As someone else with aging eyes, I would love a tutorial on how you do your eyeliner. It looks so perfect!
I can do that actually. I’ve been practicing and think I’ve pretty much got the technique down. I’ll probs film it early next week 😊 thank you 💕
Definitely posting this in the Facebook group I’m in! I learned about the curlers and the presentation was really good.
Thank you very much, that’s super helpful! 😊
It looks amazing on you!!! I think we all go through that panic moment brushing out, but you made it through and it’s stunning :)
Lovely video! I am still battling with pillow rollers & wet sets so it was super useful to see it!
Thank you! 😊 I’m really glad it helps 💕
I so love that big fluff ball!
Welcome to my daily hair 😛👌🏽 I love my big fluffy afro
When I was editing I thought my gosh! On camera It looks quite beautiful. I can assure you though, in real life it was nothing like a beautiful fluffed Afro😂💚
@@FitfullyVintage awww man I miss the blond and red and honey brown afros from the 70s. Our white brothers and sisters had some beautiful fros as well.
Yes!! Beautiful 😍
Wowzer! Amazing transformation! Loved it!
LOVE IT!!! I'll have to try it
Yay! You Must send me pictures girl 💕
@@FitfullyVintage But of course 😊
I watched his Live as well! I'm so so grateful you did this video 💕💕
I Love all your videos 😊😊
Ah, that’s brilliant! Thank you 😊 💕
You and Kate are my faves! Loved you both for ages now.
To even
Be compared I. The same sentence as her is actually an honour to me 💕
I think it's beautiful! Well done!! I want to try it now. 🤩
PLEASE show me the results - I’d love to see 💕💕
When u back combed the first curls I can’t get over how much you look like a young Julie Andrews ❤️
Really? What a wonderful compliment 😘
I will screen shot and compare later 😊👍
I have a tea mug in the same pattern as your bed spread! It's called The Strawberry Thief"
I LOVE William Morris prints - is have my whole house covered in them if I could 😍😍
I love you sooooo much 🖤🖤🖤 and your seem so comfortable in front of the camera I could never
Also I tried the hand mask and it made my hands so soft thank you
I LOVE that mask, I’m so glad you do too. I’ve been really inconsistent with looking after my hands but in lockdown I’ve been trying harder and I’ve done that mask a couple of times. Lush!
My Nana used to always do her hair like this before she cut it shorter
It looks great!!!!!💗💗💗
Thank you 😊 💕
It looks amazing!!!
Thanks so much Hannah!
Very beautiful!
This was brilliant as always, would never have thought of back combing (at all) to achieve a vintage look. My hair is on the straight and thinnish side so the back combing malarkey might be useful for me. I thought the hair style turned out great! I noticed your lovely winged eyes straight away and thought I would ask how you do your eyeliner then all of a sudden you mention that you had struggled with it. Some days I get it right other days I might as well just give up and go home ha ha. X
Thank you! Well, if you try it, let me know if it makes a difference. To be honest I was very worried about getting all that backcombing out but it came out pretty easily in the wash.
The winged eyeliner....hmmm, I’ve worked out the tactic. More horizontal as opposed to upwards and start as low as you can on the outer edge of the lower lash line without it looking odd. Then, the wing has got to be skinny and don’t go anywhere near the fold of skin as you bring it back in. X thanks for commenting 💕
@@FitfullyVintage - thank you for eyeliner tips, will give it a go ! I've tried using tape, pencil, liquid, following end of eyebrow etc etc One thing I do know is that if I don't get it right within 2 to 3 attempts then my skin is knackered and I might as well give up lol x
This tickled me pink. All the backcombing! That's how mine looks when I've rolled my hair too tight lol. I think you did a great job.
Any chance you can do a video putting a whole set of curlettes in? I always struggle putting mine un. I'm sight impaired/disabled and can't ever see the back of my hair, so I always mess it up and end up shoving it in a scunci roll. Hope you're staying safe, I've not been out for 7 weeks. I've just followed you on Instagram. I've watched you for years so have no idea why I wasn't following you. Good job.
Hahah! I’m glad. Yeah, the best curly style I do I’ll do it with curlettes and show the process - they are pretty tricky aren’t they initially - so comfortable though. I have only been out to the supermarket about 2 times a week. I’m quite the hermit though to be honest. Instagram? Well, no one reallly has ever followed me there - I’m trying with it but it’s again I’m not quite sure how to give value over there - ahh actually I think I did see that you’d followed me when I woke up this morning- thanks!
I hope you’re well too. Take care.
@@FitfullyVintage thank you! They are very tricky, but yes very comfortable. I can relate to the hermit, I'm right next to the sea here in wales but we still can't go anywhere & I'm not back in work yet. Instagram is good, I only share my dog, my bakes, & my vintage/ disability posts. Take care, thank you for taking the time for a curlettes video too. I'm sure it will go down a storm on Instagram too especially when you tag her. Stay safe x
Where did you get that top? Love it.
You're gorgeous!
Well it look amazing but my shakey hands will fail me in that area and the heat set will be a nightmare for humid Singapore 😂😂😂😂
I think it looks cute.
Thanks 😊
I love this but since having my last baby my hair is so horrid and *splits super easily, I'm relying on hair scarfs most of time time these days so I'm glad I am staying home these days 😂 still have to try this technique though bc I love a more fluffy style but my hair struggles to do it
To be honest I can see it’s benefits because literally backcombimg every single hair makes for so much volume but I’m
A little at a loss how you then go back
In and make the super smooth style - I guess it’s just practice. I too am wrapping my head in every type of material I can find so I don’t have to style it lol! 😊

Your face reminds me so much of Marilyn Monroe in this video :) great tutorial
Omg! Thank you, what a compliment ❤️
You should do a vlog that would be epic
Hmmm, thank you for the idea. I’m not sure I’m interesting enough though. 😂💕
Fitfully Vintage I feel like you are since you have kids ( idk if you want to put them in ) that’ll help
You are absolutely adorable! ❤
My hair is several inches longer so I'm not sure if this would work for me...that and all the back combing! 😂 your finished product is so cute on you though!!
Thanks for the links on the curling things!
The models hair was much longer than mine - you should try it! The back combing was indeed, something else but, if I’m honest it came out quite easily in the wash 😊💕
Ok...ya talked me into it 😂
Gotta get roller.... I don't have the proper roller either.
Oooh make sure you take pictures if you do it - I’d love to see! 😍
Any style of hair would look fabulous on you. Just roll out of bed and you're good to go-- beautiful!
That’s very kind. You have clearly never seen me in the morning but, I’ll take the compliment 😂💕
Your brows are very Marylin Monroe here!
That’s cool that you said that because that’s what I was going for! Thank you 😊
You resemble Sean Young 😍
Thank you, that’s a lovely compliment 💕
I went to his class when he toured Houston. It was a big waste of time. I wish I had saved the $75 instead.
That’s very interesting...would you care to divulge why you didn’t find it useful? I was so sad that I lived in the uk when he did those paid classes. Thank you for your comment 💚💚
@@FitfullyVintage Oh, I don't mind saying why at all. He demoed three hairstyles that day, two of which were basically the same thing. He showed us how to do a poodle, then how to do the hairstyle you were trying to replicate (called the Doris) and the Doris as a faux bob. I went to the class with hopes he was going to show how he creates waves, rolls, or something of the like. Two of the hairstyles being SO similar really upset me.
Additionally, I am in Houston, Texas. It is extremely humid here. Heated sets don't really work all that well. Many of the attendees wanted to know if the styles would work with wet sets. Tony said 'Absolutely not." Which was super discouraging to a lot of gals that attended. I am happy to send you photos of the hairstyles that he did that day if you'd like to see why I was so disappointed.
I would Id love to see those pictures. I also wonder why an over night wet set wouldn’t work? I would have thought, if anything, it would be stronger and more resistant to dropping. It’s a shame you didn’t know what you were going to get when you bought the ticket. I’m sorry you were disappointed 😔
@@FitfullyVintage I emailed them over to you. I hope I used the right email address!
Thanks Amanda you did 😊
Do you still use sponge or velcro rollers? I do.
The pillow rollers are sponge underneath the fabric. They’ve just got wire through them rather than the plastic clips. I’ve never really used Velcro other than when I did Farrah Fawcett style flick, They don’t give a strong enough curl for me and I can’t sleep in them.
@@FitfullyVintage I've slept in velcro rollers. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
@@michelletackett9489 🙌 for sleeping on velcros 🤣🤣. sponge rollers are still uncomfortable what more those velcros.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍🇵🇹
This is so weird for me: I have curly-kinky dry hair, and this is what happens to my hair when I flat-iron it. We meet in the middle!
Hahah! That’s weird isn’t it?!
this is quite long video than your usual. how quarantine slowed your living 😅. you looked so nervous my dear but i know you'll do it great in the end.
Yes. The hairstyle took a long time! Initially the footage was over an hour!!
You're so cute
Well, thank you sir. 😊
