  • Family, friends, and a few subscribers want to 'see' what our water refilling station here in the Philippines looked like. So here is a quick tour of the shop, and equipment. One of my first videos is on how much it takes to start this kind of business. You should watch this if you are thinking. of opening one.

    Nice water station! We recently purchased a house with a deep well pump/pressure tank setup. It's not connected to city water. I have DIY'd our water filters using 4 stage 20" slim filters consisting of 10, 5, 1micron and a carbon block. The only missing component is the RO system. But yeah... It's mineral... Not purified. Going into the house the water is filtered again by a sink top water filters which is also 5 stage. It includes an Ultra Fine filter rated at 0.1 micron. After which it goes thru a 6gpm UV water sterilizer. It was fun doing all that DIY stuff. All items were purchased online except for the pipes that were purchased at our local hardware store. I'm considering getting FRP tanks for sediment and iron removal in the future.

    We have a friend, with a similar set up, perhaps a little smaller, his electricity costs are considerable, be curious how much yours are, of course no competition, here in the Philippines, each electricity supplier has the sole rights in a particular area! Basically can charge what they like!!

      @PHExpatPrepper  Před rokem +2

      Yeah, one day I will have all the solar I need. I pay around 35K peso for the whole building, I am guessing as of now, watershop is about 20K of that.

  • @pumpkinjoesphilippineexperienc

    I actually planned on doing this when I first arrived, but then I saw just how many there were in the cities I stayed in. I though for $3-$4k; which was the start-up cost in 2017 it was a great investment opportunity. I never thought the competition would be so stiff though. I'm glad to see it's worked out for you however. I may still look at in depending on the area we moved to once we sell our house & lot.

    Nice set up mate, especially those stainless steel benches. Tiles are a pain in the ass to keep clean. I’ve been running my own water station in Dumaguete since 2016, been a good business but like yourself it was difficult in the beginning. Good crew is hard to find! But when you do find them you have treat them well, I also pay them accordingly unlike most others. Nice video, I like seeing how others have set up. I wish I had a bit more room but to make money in this business you really need to own your own shop space I’ll just stay put for now. May I ask how much your selling the 3kg and 5kg ice bags for? And I did you buy the plastic bags the Philippines? Thank you and all the best

      Thanks.. it did take trial and error to get the setup to a place that was good. 3k 45p 5k 65p for the ice. We have a few restaurants that get a discount, as they order a lot.. We order the blue ice bags off of shopee.

    Where in the Philippines are you located? We have been here for four months but plan to permanently stay here. We have family in Angeles City, Pampanga. We are both retired but still young enough to do things. I love the water purification setup. Prepping is a way of life here. I first visited in 1977 while in the military. It is getting crazy in the US depending on where you are at.

      Well.. its a mix..and I have updated it a bit. Any local seller of water equipment will assist better, as they will supply install. I just recommend start with a higher than you think setup. get 2hp pumps, get 4ro, ect.. as they will try to hook you with a cheap system.. but can not scale, so you will be always replacing (upgrading). Like tanks.. they will say 500l is good to start. Its not. 2000l is a good tank size to start.

    Thanks for the video. Very educational. Do you have any recommendations on how a family might bring their own filling station up to spec? Are there companies that specialize in coming in to set the infrastructure and machinery/equipment up? Or do you have to do it on your own? And for filters and equipment are there certain industry-leading companies to source from? How does one go about that? Sorry for all the questions- happy to email or use a different forum. You seem very knowledgeable so I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss.

    • @PHExpatPrepper

      Hi, Yeah there are a LOT of companies that will sale you the initial gear, add on, and setups. They also help with getting it working right. Training too. After a while you get the hang of it, RO and filters, seals, and such are readily available online, or via whole sellers. I stock up of on that stuff too. Depends on where you are at, but I am positive there is some reputable seller\installer around. Thanks

    • @PHExpatPrepper
      @PHExpatPrepper  Před rokem +5

      Good question, and I answer this a lot. UNLESS you have a high stomach acid issue, you do not need alkaline. It IS good for gert, acid reflux and such. That is the only benefit. It is basically mineral water that is charged to change the PH. You can solve this with diet.. Different fruits, and veg have higher acid, and some have lower.
