    I never blow DBC unless sanded with 500. 400 or less will show sand scratches. 2 coats will cover 500 real nice. You need to pull away at least at inch or two with your clear; way too heavy. Better to have more material hit and stay with a fine, not as glossy texture than get closer, going for gloss; a lot of your clear bounced off , ended up on the floor. Especially when you plan to cut and buff. The gloss looks good when you're spraying but is way more work to sand flat before buff than more material staying on the car with a very fine, easy to sand flat-slight texture. Excellent body work and prep👍

      Thanks. Yes. I've changed my habits. On this car I sprayed at 28-29psi now I spray at 35 psi. Smaller droplets filling in. I also don't use that clear anymore. I've never used 500 grit paper? Didn't know it was a thing. I don't use DBC anymore either. They have priced me out. Can't afford it.

    My customer just got my materials for his Impala. 1 gallon of red Deltron with my discount was $1,200. 2 kits of 2021 clear was over a thousand. Plus primer abrasive etc. I use a lot of clear because I flowcoat but materials are nuts in price.but it’s great paint and it will last 20 years if taken care of.

    nice im old school and like to mop the floor before and during the spraying keeps the dust down

    • @lonestarlows
      @lonestarlows  Před 4 lety +1

      My only concern with that technique is. A wet air hose dripping on a panel

    • @goldfinder49er1
      @goldfinder49er1 Před 4 lety

      @@lonestarlows naa just offering suggestions; if you drag the hose on the ground you are raising dust and creating static electricity on the hose which picks up dust,every step you take does the same thing by mopping the floor not by puddling it,it holds the dust and over spray as well and on that fan, try to find a heating and cooling place near you or go on craigslist to find a squirrel cage fan from an old heating unit look in my videos for how i built a box around it and filter keep up the good work

    Runs are part of the game, you don't want them, but you really don't want a dry spot somewhere

    • @lonestarlows
      @lonestarlows  Před 4 lety +1

      Yeah. Thin line between wet and run. I let flash longer on the shell than i did on the dash. It worked

    Hands down the 61 is the best hard top impala.
    I'm liking the new non metallic colors Toyota has been putting out lately. I think they would fit an old school perfectly. Just my latest thought. Your color looks great to.

    • @lonestarlows

      I think it would have done ok with no filter. Problem is the wind is blowing in that direction and bogs down fan and blows trash on car...but yeah. Need to rethink ventilation for big projects. Doors hoods it will do fine.
