- Join these Kiwis and Aussies and take on a double challenge with a can of Oskars Surströmming from Sweden and Packet of Australian made "Worlds Hottest Corn Chips" from the chilliseedbank.com.au Downunder In Tewantin Queensland Australia.
Surstromming used in video was "Oskars Surströmming", it was founded in 1955 by Oskar Söderström. The first barrel of fermented herring was created in 1955. Oskar was not totally satisfied with the outcome first. He did not give up, instead he gradually refined the product. Soon his surströmming was ready to be launched onto the market. In 1966 the first can came with the name Oskars.
Contains 5-7 fermented herrings.

That dad is awesome. "Where's everybody gone?"
He'd survive Gallipoli without breaking a sweat and shout "Where ya all going?" while the bullets whiz past his head...
The man! Totally calm while people are falling apart all around him for the duration of the video.
Never seen a non-swede eating surströmming like the dad did. I'm truly amazed.
You just didn't watch this: "Сюрстрёмминг по Русски".
I agree and im a sweed.. he is awsome.
@@martinericsson2055 but you dont eat surstrømming like that, do you? :P
the dad was a monster, and also, LA Beast used photoshopping..
Oh brother... 🙄.. here we go again... hmmmm....
Guy with the glasses is unbothered. True Viking
That dad is hardcore!

@Steven Young dogs love it actually
Man-Mode... hardcore...... respect
Cause he's a kiwi hahahah
I love the synchronized gags on the right side. The verry first ones🤣🤣👍 at 02:45.
This is one of the best Surströmming videos. Lots of retching, ataxia puppy, beautiful location. It's got it all.
Thanks for the positive comments ! We are looking at doing a follow up
I hope it’ll be as entertaining if not more
Aussies are bad asses! That dad is a legend!
By far the toughest crowd ive seen trying surströmming
Family outing of suffering! LOL...father is truly badass about surströmming and the hot corn chip!
The dog is like: "That's fucking delicious!"
Well done. But you should eat it as we actually do in Sweden.
Flat hardbread, red union, boild potatoes and creamfresh. Make a wrap and put the fich in the wrap.
Eat directly from the can itself is just awful even for us, so respect for that :)
Regards from Sweden
that dad is a champion, what a legend
Mate... that had me crying .. it's amazing that simply the word chunk can invoke a a dry wretch when that stuff is around lol
You folks are a HOOT! Everybody's in it all the way, top notch sports!
that dog is real badass
You, sir, are one tough cookie. Call me deeply impressed.
Wow the dad kicks ass with everything he’s a machine WELL DONE 👍
Thanks Chontel ! we will see how I go on our upcoming re attempt
@@smydie I can’t wait one of the best you tube videos I’ve seen I loved it
A million flies can´t be wrong :-D
true indeed😂
The dog loved it too!
Imagine you have meat outside there must be billions of flies
Imagine how many flies the factory has.
I like how game they are despite the horrible retching.
Hello I am Swedish and we eat surströmming together with flat bread, smashed potaoes, sourcream, chopped red onion and chives. We put the fish in and make a roll of it. Enjoy together with a cold beer. ;-)
Expect the guy with the Sabbath t-shirt to soldier trough this!
Very tough man father :)))
This dad is a legend
The smell is known to induce labour... In men!
Yes, I am a Swede.
I know hapely I wasent exposet to mutch of thé smell becas dad is fish allergic
And thé smell sticks for auvaile (tag) but as every sweed knows you can redus the smell if you know how
@@pippen0512 one is not suppose to eat the fish the way they do it
, you are meant to have garlic and bread with it and other items to .
@@stigtuneback1966 You're not meant to do anything with it, its an old tradition from the nordes. probably the swedes.
@@stigtuneback1966 Like how the phaerolanders eats sheeps heads.
@@stigtuneback1966 The correct way of eating it is to put it on flatbread with some onion and potatoes, and then put the flatbread in a cremation furnace.
The guys a legend even we struggle in Sweden 😂
sounded like even the kookaburra's were complaining about the smell
Huge props to " Dad " Ive been on a Surstromming binge for the past few hours, and he is the only person from around the world who hasn't gagged, spat it out and keeled over, then he eats two corn ships without blinking !! Bloody Nora, well done sir ! Cheers from Maroochydore
Cheers Ian ! Nice to hear from a local..if we get enough people together we are going to go a second round, what do you reckon ?
@@smydie Very brave i reckon, and the can has to be under a year old. Some have tried to eat them when the fish has disintegrated, and the taste is even worse if that's possible ! If you remember, let me know when it's happening, i'll heave up in sympathy !!
Tastes better than it smells. Finally someone like that fermented Herring :-)
I have watched many of these and these folks were the only ones that ate it. Love the dad. So composed.
love your back yard all the birds
Всегда забавно смотреть на дегустацию Сюрстрёмминг. Вы молодцы, держались получше многих других :)
Best comment yet," that stuff smells fucked get it out of here" brilliant
Funny on how there is no flies until he cracks open the can, lol.
We've watched a bunch of these videos and the gagger is always the best part! :D
Well done, y'all! It's good to have a laugh these days. Cheers!
Lol even the birds were complaining
Love you guys already. Great family. And impressed of dad. 💪🏻
the can of Surstromming should be punctured in a bucket of water, also it's a season item, and suppose to be used as a sandwhich with potatoes, onions, and a dairy sauce like yogurt. But doing that it that way is hardcore and awesome
Любитель Оззи - молодец!!)))
Ржал от того как девчёнка самая смелая блюёт..а потом от остроты ахуевает🤣🤣🤣
5:44 - "I can't. I can't bring myself to do it". Then she does it.
Man this video is awesome and funny! It makes me want to travel to Australia and bring Surströmming and German Beer with me!
The dad is great, well done 👍
Thanks for the positive comment
We are thinking of doing a revisit video with a fresh can ..
Smydie! A very funny video indeed. You have an iron gut mate and didn't flinch for one second! :-)
Thanks Mr Allen for the positive feedback !
The one young woman who stayed in the background cracked me UP!! She was like..... EFF THIS! Fun group of people for sure!
The older man is a boss!!
respect for the dad ! :D
YeaaH
The dad reminds me of the American actor Alan Ruck who starred in the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
It's incredible that there are parrots flying around in your back yard. That bird sound would take some getting used to.
Hi Jenn Ross, i see what you mean... yes you get used to the parrots and birds after a while, every time we get visitors from overseas they can't believe the bird life here.
4:42 - "Where's everybody going?" .... ROFL!!!
You’re a legend!
Well done..im wanting to try this challenge with my family, here in South Australia.
Какие же красивые у людей семейные обеды! С одной банки и все наелись...
“Don’t breathe, just chew!”… Sage advice 😂
you guys are bad ass for actually trying the surstromming and you make it sound good saying its salty and oniony but i couldn't eat that lol
finally one of these challenges where they thought to do it outside.
😂😂 this was a great laugh!!
holy, the dad...like a boss xD
Good man with glasses!😂😎♥️🇸🇪👍
The Dad is a Terminator ❤
You know a Dad with a Black Sabbath T shirt is going to beast through it!
Kiwis and aussies hardcore straight in there. Best at challenge now
The kiwi was mostly in there
That was marvellously amusing. Shocked you didn't have milk to hand. That's a first.
Thanks.. we didn't want to spoil the taste of the beer.
"Where's everybody going"? LOL!!!!!!!! I've had some hot edibles in my life too... Awesome vid bro!!!!! From the Central Coast of California!!
True Believer cheers !
The dog got nerve damage even before the can is pierced.
I don't know what's worse.....the dry heaving or the flies!Looks like a fun family. Thanks for the video!
I like the way they protected the yard
Dads a bad ass
Wow! Your a Beast!
Cool video. We suppose to do that this year too. Love from Germany.
Al Bau good luck ! Post a video
Lovly video guys, iam from Sweden so i think this is so fun
Even the birds goes crazy by the smell of the stinky fish 🤣
Awesome video guys!
Thanks mike ! We decided to make another ,just waiting on the next tin
Dad handled both challenges pretty well better than most
"I didn't think it would smell that bad, though."
If I had a dollar for every time I've heard _that!_
Youse guys got it all those girls throwing up like that just got hit so funny
Ken oath you guys rock. :D
2:38 Doggo is already licking his mouth because dogs love smelly things haha xD
What a bunch of nice people we got here :-)
Anjoyed your video, greetings from Hamburg Germany
Yellow cap guy is just very funny :-D
Totally made my day! lol
It's a phenomenon... no matter where you test this fish, in Australia, the U.S. or Germany, as soon as you open the can all the flies in the vicinity are drawn to the Surströmming. Even in places where normally there are no flies at all
Haha. You think bullets are cracking by, it’s just flies dropping out of warp.
@@alexnelson6196 That´s exactly my line of thinking. Live long and prosper
Guess what ? I’m ordering a fresh tin in from Sweden today so subscribe and hit the notification bell if you would like to see how we handle the second round .
This time we are going in a little different
lmao. you guys remind me of people i met on a cruise in 2013 😂😂😭
Nice ,the package arrived intact . Just need to rope in some punters for the next episode ...
He da boss for sure!
Frankly, who needs another "stinky fish challange" with coughing and choking foreigners?
Anyway here are some basic rules from Sweden when it comes to eating surströmming (or fermented Baltic sea herring).
Yes, it is smelly and salty, but for some reason surströmming has survived more than 500 years of recorded history in Sweden.
Fermentation has been used by mankind for thousand of years to conserve food (probably in shortage of salt).
Surströmming is produced in Norrland (northern part of Sweden) and mostly eaten during late summer or early fall.
The traditional premier date is on the third Thursday of August. Here are some basic guidelines.
(1) Surströmming should always be eaten together with good friends.
(2) Leave your children and pets at some other place before the meal (kids will hate the smell, dogs will love it).
(3) Always open the tin can and serve surströmming outdoors (for obvious reasons). The can is best opened under water in a bucket.
(4) Never ever eat surstromming straight from the tin can - and peel off the skin!
(5) Always be sure to serve the right side dishes with surströmming (use google or see video below). No one in Sweden ever eat just surstromming.
(6) After every bite, clear your throat with a sip of ice cold Absolut Vodka - blue label, 80 proof (some prefer milk as an non alcoholic option).
The CHALLANGE is to give surströmming the respect it deserves and it will give you a food experience that will last a lifetime!
See this link for surströmming being served by an expert in the right Swedish environment to a delighted Jamie Oliver!
@
It wouldn't be a challenge then.
You shouldn't really take it too personally Per, it's just like all the vegemite challenges out there. No one eats it like put in front of people in those challenges, and there's nowhere near as many rules on how to eat vegemite!
Like slathering it on some bread is going to do wonders for the taste afterwords. *rolls eyes*
@@ladydarkmoon7793 sounds like you've never tried.....best stick to your burger and fries! :)
Most importantly, keep it in the fridge between buying it and opening it. A can that´s been in the mail from Sweden to Australia, and not kept in temperatures between +4° C till +6° C (fridge temperatures) shouldn´t be eaten.
HA HA HA HA! Bra där pappa är Kung, good one, pappa is King! I did se the fly...
The dog is enjoying it big time
Собакам нравится) Это надо с самогоном есть)
the doggo loves it
That man is so alpha while the others are dying lmao
well, that was fun!
"It smells worse than it tastes".If that's the highest praise you can give to a food I'll definitely give it a miss Lol. Dad's got balls though.
Your are brave guys...
Surstromming is one of my favorite food. Wich make this kind of videos really entertaining. =)
How do you like to eat it?
@@jovetj With bread, onion and potatoes.
Props!!👍 best buddy and me are about to perform this next week...🤢
Hello
Blimey , those birds a bloody noisy, feed them some of those chips that will shut em up for a while lol. CHEERS!!
Fun fact: Birds doesn't feel the heat from chili, as they lack the receptors that capsaicin binds to.
Lmfao 🤣 Give this family their own reality show !
Humans: BLLAARRGGHHH!
Dogs: Hoomans! WTF are you doing?
Flies: Now that's good shit!
The dog's ok with the taste!!
Dogs are also known to lick their own arsehole and ingest excrement.
Love the T-shirt…..SWELL😅😅😅
Wow, father is taking ist so well.
That Black Sabbath t-shirt is the priceless!
