  • Darrell Freeman is a lifelong serial entrepreneur who started his first company (Zycron Inc) in the ‘90s with $2,000. He sold it 20 years later for $23 million. Besides that, he also is the co-founder of Reliant Bank (which has over $2 billion in assets), he owns two Dollar General stores, he’s the majority owner of his newest venture S3 Recycling Solutions, he’s a seasoned stock and real estate investor, and he’s a mentor and philanthropist.
In EYL 112, he walked us through selling a business, he explained his mission to help entrepreneurs reach his level of success, he broke down how to valuate a company and explained the importance of selling businesses. #business #entrepreneur

This is gold. I love when he say he didn't build a black company he built a quality company. People hate when I say, I don't support black owned businesses, I support quality black owned businesses. I spend my money on quality products, so if you want my money you certainly need to produce a product of quality. I don't buy just because I'm black or the owner is black. This is truth. Great build.

I just made a similar comment. Black people have too much pride and they think being saying they are black owned is going to bring them all these black customers. Black people are only 12 percent of the population.

I'm still digesting how this man thinks. Lots of gems in here:
    1. Build a business to the point where YOU can step back without the business losing value.
    2. Having confidence doesn't mean having an ego
    3. Don't rent if you don't have to. Own whenever you can
    4. Loans, who you bank with - it's all about relationships. Take bankers out to lunch
5.When your chips are stacked take them off the table - diversify
    6. Start with the end in mind.
    7. Build a business around the people you trust.

This man reminds me of Vusi Thembekwayo a serial entrepreneur from here in South Africa. They teach the exact same thing of if you can't leave the business and it continues to run smoothly then you are the business and you need to have an exit. Also once all that is done give others an opportunty by sharing your wisdom.
