    Great video and beautiful bike. It took a year and a half ( long story on that ) but recently got the 2023 Emonda SLR 6 with AXS etap. Love the electronic shifting as well and the bike as a whole.

      They aren't horrible, way better than the alloy wheels, but you can feel the differences between these and the RSLs. Doing the RSLs tubeless, you lose 1.5 lbs

    3 weeks into my new Emonda SL7 and pushing 400 miles. Unlike yourself I’m not craving 30+mph speeds so the weight of the bike is less relevant. Mine came with Aeolus Pro 37 wheels which perform better in every way than the best aluminum rim brake wheels (been through a bunch) so I plan no upgrade there. To me the best surprise about this model is the lively but forgiving behavior of the frame. Did not expect to like a monocoque C F bike this much, was good from mile 1 but gets better every I ride it. Also the SL7 has a mid-compact (52-36) crank which may limit my ability on steep climbs (was this model billed as the ‘climbing’ bike?) which has proven plenty of gear with the 11 tooth cassette. So far happy with every component except the tires. Had Conti GP 4 seasons on it after 50 miles and one crash.

    • @JakebMiller
      @JakebMiller  Před rokem

      @martymiller4300 That's awesome! That is the bike I wanted but wasn't a huge fan of the colors. I totally agree, I love the feel of the CF frame, so ready to go. The 37s are amazing and should allow you to get moving quickly off the line. The 52 is what I'm needing for speed, for climbing you might want to like at the 50, depending on how hilly your area is. Yeah Contis are a bit hefty, I trade those out for the Bontrager R3s or Pirellis P Zeroes.

    I have an Sl6 emondo. I think its 2021. I live in a very hilly area and am running 28 teeth in the back. would you recommend 32 or 34 for the back gearing? IF so which one and do i need to change out anything other than the chain when i change the cassette? New to riding so anything helps.

    • @JakebMiller
      @JakebMiller  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes, large gear in the back would help a ton! Shimano has the 105 r7000 11 speed 32t that would work. Another huge help for climbing is lighter weight wheels, the lighter you can get those, the easier it is to climb.

    Nice descriptive review. But why is this bike described as a racer, when it’s really an all around bike? And you describe it as a budget bike? This bike starts most likely @5k? You shouldn’t have to upgrade anything. And I’m not knocking you in anyway. Lastly with the 105di shifting can you replace the batteries? Thanks in advance ❤

    • @JakebMiller
      @JakebMiller  Před 11 měsíci

      Thank you for watching and commenting. Yes this is Trek's race bike, it's light weight and built to climb. The all around bike would my other bike, Checkpoint. It's a gravel bike but can be ridden on the road. I've commuted on mine for 2 years now and even take it bike packing.
      Yes it's 5k and that is the middle of the field for road bikes right now. The SL6 Pro is a great get in bike in the middle of the pack cause it's electronic shifting and has carbon wheels.
      As for the batteries, if it ever needs to be replaced, it can be by our local bike shop.

      @@JakebMiller Really appreciate your input. And I see your points! But lastly, are the Di-2 batteries user replaceable? And can they be purchased at a local bike store? That would give me a big boost in confidence if they are. Again thank you

      @@JakebMiller Thank you for a quick reply! If you have a chance would you please scale its real weight? As I understand, 18.2 lbs is according to the Trek’s methodology, but we ride those in different conditions (with pedals, bottle cages, etc :)

    • @JakebMiller
      @JakebMiller  Před 10 měsíci
