Yes but he was trying to point to the $100 (last burrito on the left. He was confused on which side. You can see him switch to point to the $10k burrito for a split second in the cut. When he points to the $0.01 burrito it also looks like he’s pointing to a bag but he’s trying his best to point at the burritos not bags.

Ludwig is so good with his bits! I don't know if it was pre-planned or if he thought of it on the fly after the first phone call and then decided to make a thing out of it on subsequent calls, but you can totally see him mute/hang on the second call. Completely willing to make himself the butt of the joke for the viewers, while simultaneously making a basic narrative arc people can get behind and root for. Pretty damn smooth.

It’s not the Monty hall problem. The MOST KEY part of the famous Monty hall problem is that the host knows where everything is and therefore, the host will always knowingly reveal a sheep and so switching gives you 2/3 chances of winning. But in deal or no deal, the cases are exposed randomly and the 10k case can be revealed in the process. There is no guarantee because of the randomness and so the odds remain 1/16.

When he was offered the 800 he had an expected value of 1600 or so based on the remaining choices, so he made the right move before even factoring in his mom (who definitely loves him I swear)
Even when offered one grand, his expected value was still around 1500.
However, when offered 2500, his expected value was at 2700 or so, and it would be a safe bet to take.
For reference,
First offer: 6:37
Second offer: 9:10
Third offer: 14:26
There were two more offers after this but they were also really close to the expected value and I think Lud wanted to play it out to the end for the content anyway
I mean I'd say the deal should be lower considering you are guaranteed safety. The final offer of 5500 between 1,000 and 10,000 was the "right choice" though, only denied due to Lud's exceedingly high ego and belief the universe works for him. It payed off, sadly.

mathmatically you should always switch at the end. In Simple terms when you first pick you have a 1/16 chance of picking right meaning theres a 6% chance you picked right. Leaving a 94% chance the 10k is on the board. If theres still the 10k left at the end that means theres a 94% chance its in the case you didnt choose.

this math doesn’t make sense. There’s a 1/16 chance that the 10k is in any of the bags at the start. As the numbers go off the board the probability changes for every bag. At the end there’s only two bags left so there’s still just a 50% chance for either to be right at that point. You can’t transfer the probability from the first guess cause that is no longer relevant
