Hey Chris is like to offer my sincere appreciation! I fished my first big tournament of my life as a boater FLW Toyota Series this year, I had something figured out but day 2 of practice u and John Crews releases his video of u talking bout the magdraft, I’ll b honest would have never ever tried it, it was just to intimidating to me! But I thought what the heck went and bought one and actually caught all my fish but 2 on it! Got to say would have never tried it if not for the video and so u helped get me 42nd.....and I beat Jacob Wheeler lol, thank u sir!
Sorry to be so off topic but does someone know of a way to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot my account password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Brody Brysen I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
That was dope. I have been so bummed fishing the same old shore line and docks that everyone else fishes. I always had the idea that big bass are in open water. Now I know how to crush.
Really appreciated the graph and positioning info. Thanks for taking the time to make something so helpful. I got a few of em to try out in North TX. Roberts here we come!
I use that curado 301 for swimbaits too.. Ive had it for forever but never realized until recently I had a great swimbait reel. Good to know it’s got your seal of approval as well 🤙
New subscriber here from ATL area. Thanks for the great video, it got me fired up to go fishing! And that's what its all about. Wishing you and your family the best. And good luck on tour!
I’ve been trying to learn swimbait fishing. Haven’t had much success . I’m inspired by watching Zaldain crush them on magdrafts. I got me some of the 6 inch harness and weedless versions. Hopefully I will get a few soon.
Epic video man - we fish the magdraft 10inch and 8inc here in Australia for Murray Cod. They dominante. Love the content man, keep it coming!!!!! Much love from the land down under
Hi Chris. I am an old school 80s and 90s tournament fisherman and You got hooked on fishing swimbaits!! I am up here in UpState New York. Already been out catching some fish on 5" Spark Shads and some deep smallmouth on the Dark Sleepers. What a stinky riot it is. Your videos are very educational. Good luck when the Elite Series starts up again. Karl Tripple
Caught my 1st magdraft fish over the weekend 6.10 , was awesome ! Love the videos & all the tips & info. keep em coming , met you @ the expo Sunday was really cool
I used to fish against you when you fished in the kickboat. We fished Delta and Clear Lake together a few times. BnT and Scbbbc. It's awesome you have followed your dream. Right lines Zman
Love watching u fish big swimbaits. I’m a saltwater guy that fished calico bass in California. I use your ideas into salt and it’s awesome to see how it works and gets bite. I use the irod bailey swim 804 rod and it’s great for those baits. I only use the 6” in weedless most of the time since I fish in kelp a lot unless we are fishing a rock spot I’ll use rigged one. Favorite colors is white and perch kinda resembles a mackerel lol
Caught a new PB largemouth last week on the 8" Magdraft, weedless mod with a 11/0 VMC HD willow blade hook. She was 23.00"long and 9.5lbs, from a disclosed location in SW Missouri. The 6" & 8" Magdrafts are my go-tos this time of year!
Fishing a tournement next month , told my dad my fishing partner I'm changing styles, he thinks I'm crazy, he's right .love catching 3 and 4s but I'm looking for toads. Going to practice neighborhood lakes they produce plenty of 5 and 6s . Starting with a 9 foot surf rod and big spinning reel, have a month to tune up, thrown bait caster forever nervous about throwing so big ,trying spinning first. I'm so pumped ,more after watching your video, love the tips, seen one using Bobby pin for holding hook also. Might be divorced by end of month, changing Technics have energized me to the max, driving my wife crazy!!!!!
Wow so good . I just started using these myself and the first time I used it . I caught a 4 pounder I know bigger fish are to come . My buddy joe showed me these . And they are amazing
That was awesome Chris!! I really like the tip about bending that hook out to keep the treble secured in the body. The magnet is nice but sometimes the lure will land funny or I'll skip it and that hook will pop out. Take care and tight lines!!
Nothing beats time on the water imo- that said, his advice to treat it like a 3/8ths spinner bait is genius- never heard anyone else explain it that way and once you hear that- if you fish 3/8ths spinners much- you know exactly where, when, and how to throw it. It really simplifies it tremendously because everyone is familiar with the 3/8ths spinner and have fished them for years.
That's what I'm talking about ! Been getting more and more confident with my BIG swimbait. Been using 6.5 ,about to move up to 8" ! Getting fewer bites , BUT!! getting quality bites . Chasing (My Ghost) 10lb plus ! My current PB 6.5 ! Getting closer ! One day Baby one day !! God Bless Gr8t video
Awesome video and info! Locking down the boat to fish the contour lines and keeping the bait in original packaging (wish I saw that sooner). I have a question if you have time, .How dirty is too dirty? I met you at Collinsville Illinois boat and fishing show. You were very gracious and we talked about wobble heads. You said you like 3" spark shad on them. I gave it a shot at Bull Shoals in March and they slammed it. Thanks Chris, all the best to you and yours!
Great video, thanks for the great details given about how to fish it. Do you speed up your retrieve in the warmer months or do you continue the slow and steady?
Great video! Im new to trying big swimbaits, unfortunately i dont have a boat and fish from the bank. But seeing your video maybe i can have success from the bank as u explained. I bought the 6 inch S Waver 168 because i was told it would be a good confidence building lure before i buy others and larger sizes. I live/fish here in northern california. Can u recommend a good lake to bank fish with these large swimbaits? Im an hour away from Pardee, New Melones, McClure if any of them are good for bank fishing tbese baits
Great video Chris! I heard the BTL the other day and was stoked to see this one drop. If it wasn't for some snow here the SB bite would be just about to turn on in CO. Now the waters will be back down in the mid40's and I'll be dreaming of that magic 50 number for another week. What is the coldest water you've put a Magdraft fish in the boat, and yes the 6" counts here. LOL
Chris, I bought my 1st magdraft swimbait, 6 in freestyle. Im a bank fisherman and went out this weekend and worked it at my local lake. My question is, if I only throw this weedless version with Trokar swim blade hook are there times the fish wont bite because of the spinning blade but would bite the standard Magdraft with the treble hook system?
Relating this to a 3/8ths spinner bait is genius Chris- very well done. That simplifies it tremendously for me- and somehow makes it much less intimidating to throw. I recently put hands to a 5 inch magdraft and I really recommend ppl getting one if they're like me and are a little intimidated by throwing the larger baits or fish where there aren't many larger bass. They get bit way more often than the 6 or 8 for me- of course, and yet you still are sizing up a bit and getting used to the magdraft- building confidence in it. They're really difficult to find- unless you're willing to buy over seas- but Hook Up Tackle has some, if they're not sold out already. You can remove the hook harness from this thing and it makes a killer swimjig trailer, you can rig it weedless, you can put it on a underspin, whatever you want.
Great video.....lots of good stuff...wish you could make more trips to my neck of the woods ... THE MIGHTY CALIFORNIA DELTA good luck on the tour ... STOCKTON CALIFORNIA IN THE HOUSE
Might have missed it. What is the preferred gear ratio. Been fishing line on a 7.4:1 but I'm thinking something slower like a cranking reel might be better
Thanks Chris for this video. You're pooch didn't seem to impressed but I sure am. Thanks a lot. I have a question and maybe I just missed it in the video but how deep exactly were you fishing? Like what depth were you casting in to and how close to the bottom are you fishing that swimbait?
I know you're busy. Love your videos. I was practicing on table rock for a big bass bash event this week throwing the 8 inch white back shad and I missed every dam fish that bit me which I'm glad as it was practice. But do u ever run a stinger hook?
This video is pure gold and offers such a wealth of information to those who are new to the big bait game. One of the key tips you mention is your casting angles on a point. Bringing that bait up hill will get you FAR more bites than pulling the bait from shallow to deep water. Also what I've found is fishing across the point if you pick up a fish bringing it up hill can help pick up an extra bite. Different angles are key! A question I have for you is color vs profile? When a bait gets to the size of the 8 inch Im less worried about the color as those fish can feel that water displacement from a big distance. Do you get hung up on several different colors or do you stick to only a few choices?
Hi Chris we follow both you and Trait on your fishing adventures. We pull for you but to be honest we would really like Trait to pull off her first win. I will come just keep the faith. I watched your vid that featured your FXR20 boat tour. I am in the market for a new boat and just recently a Skeeter dealer opened in our area ( northern Ohio ). I'm seriously looking at the FXR20 and was just curious if your going to sell yours at the end of the season and if so do you have a number in mind. Thanks in advance. We wish the two of you a healthy and successful season ahead.
Was wondering how deep in the water column where u fishing the point when u where talking about boat poistion. Do you like it on the bottom mid-level. Just wonder? Thanks in advance.
What is the best size and color magdraft for simply catching a fish? I'd assume it's the 6'' in albino pearl, but would the freestyle or the original be better, in your mind? I just need some dang confidence.
What would you recommend in the lower to mid 100 dollar range for a good swimbait rod for the 6inch MagDraft Freestyle. I love throwing swimbaits I just do not have the ideal setup to throw them whenever I want.
I can’t believe I finally actually found somebody on CZcams that uses a left-handed real use a left-handed reel the last bass that he caughtmonster

That swim bait bite is really fixing to hit its peak on that certain lake you were on. Every year around this time it goes bananas

Just bought a mag draft thanks to you lol hopefully I can land some giants like you did! Good stuff brother!

Good luck Matt!! Let me know how it goes?
Awesome video Chris! I learned more in these 10 minutes than I would've in a day of swimbait fishing on my own.

Great video Chris! What is your reel speed choice when throwing the Megabass Swimbaits? It looked like you were using a Shimano Curado.
Chris Zaldain Awesome, like you, I’m a Seaguar guy, but they don’t make a CoPoly mono; what do you use and/ or recommend?
Might have missed it. What is the preferred gear ratio. Been fishing line on a 7.4:1 but I'm thinking something slower like a cranking reel might be better
Hey Chris. When they gonna come out with the 8” freestyle magdraft 😉. I’m tired of modifying them 😁
Been looking for a new 300e curado for a minute now, where'd you get yours?
Saludos desde España!!

What do you look for in a reel to throw a large swimbait?
I just bought a 6” & 7” magdraft im stoked to go try them.
Let me know if you catch any on them?? Good luck 👊
Will do brother. Thank u. Good luck to u and Trait

when you have a tournament were you are looking for five bites how do you practice? thanks
I finally landed some nice bass on the magdraft!! Swimbaits for the win

I know you're busy. Love your videos. I was practicing on table rock for a big bass bash event this week throwing the 8 inch white back shad and I missed every dam fish that bit me which I'm glad as it was practice. But do u ever run a stinger hook?
I do not. Would they bite the 6”? I know sometimes they only want the 8” but I’d be throwing the 6” in the Ozarks.
When do you use a flashy swimmer vs magdraft?
What’s the best water temp , structure , and season to throw it
What's the biggest bass you got on the 6 inch or 8 inch magdraft
This video is pure gold and offers such a wealth of information to those who are new to the big bait game. One of the key tips you mention is your casting angles on a point. Chris is the bite always feel hard. I tried it for the very first time and didn’t get any hard bites but I did get a few ticks

What size hooks are you using on the 6in and 8in?
What do you think that monster at the end weighed?
Great video.can you give me some advice on what reel to use.?..you mentioned the rods.but not the reels.
300 size, 7:1 ratio... I've been playing around with the 13 Fishing Concept Z. What I was using in the Redfish Cup to bomb baits.
Great info brother really appreciate the knowledge n teaching I’ve fished in Fla w K7e6ith Wilson and it’s a diff world he’s a good man as well 👍❤️
Cool Chris U got me hooked dude I am a swimbait junkie and I need a fix Ha Ha🤣

Brayden Click 6 inch is only a ounce and a quarter. Throw it on a longer jig rod maybe a real heavy crank bait rod
Diawa DX swimbaits rod the medium heavy model it perfect for 6 inch baits👍
I’m just starting to use a s waver glide bait what kind of knot should i use
What kind of not do you use to tie to the trokar
Kinda late here but how often do those get hung up where I like to fish has some stumps and rocks
