- Childhood apraxia of speech is a condition among young children, wherein the brain has difficulty processing plans for speech movement. It has a few possible causes, but most of the time, the actual reason can't be determined.
While some children eventually grow out of the condition as they age and develop, many others do not. In such instances, the help of a speech and language pathologist is necessary.
In this video from The Mayo Clinic, we learn about the different techniques in treating childhood apraxia of speech, which focuses on movement accuracy. We also learn about the important of treatment frequency and face-to-face interaction between the child and the speech-language pathologist.
