      @@cutemimi25 Yup. Wii is challenging, annoying and frustrating. I have had to reopen many times when I did go in. UGH. I changed the Wii Laser. I also changed my Gamecube Laser...the gamecube is actually better than Wii, much simpler in my experience...not as so crazy as the Wii to disassemble and reassemble with all the screws and he positions they were in and all that ..ugh.
      I am now tackling my WiiU since recently its been cutting out in Wii mode. I checked the battery voltage its still 3Volts ..but that battery has been in there since I bought it brand new many years ago now. So I dunno.
      Now to tackle finishing opening that WiiU. I had got stuck...i need to remove the side plates after removing the first set of screws.
      I been putting it off but I am here today for guide//reference as to how to continue. Cheers for this video.
      Thanks a lot.

    For anyone using this tutorial after me, the two screws at 42s are NOT tri-wing. They are Phillips head. You can tell from the video but I was listening while putting it back together. Aside from that great tutorial. You should've added how to clean the disc laser as it is a common issue on Wii Us.
    For future laser cleaners: I didn't disconnect the ribbon cable from the front panel or disc drive. Just remove the four screws surrounding disc drive and the two on top of the drive to open the top. Remove two screws mounting the white circular plastic piece and bam! clear view of the disc laser. I used rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth. Laser reads better than ever. Cheers!

    You know what's interesting about the disk drive. Once you insert a disc inside. There is a door that closes is shut. I inserted the disk. Then took a paper clip to see if I can reach the disk bit there is a door that blocked the paper clip to get inside. It's probably there so that the disc doesn't fall out while in motion.

The thought is very real, the intention is very real and the forward movement to actually do what one had set out to do is very real. The forward movement to complete the desired task can be halted by outside forces such as in this case the absence of a triwing screwdriver. However this does not negate his intention as his forward movement to watch this video proves. Thus he very much did wish to open his WiiU and made the forward movement to do so, but was halted by outside forces. Live long and prosper, Love Spock.

    I'm not sure what your stance is on the ethics of Softmodding or Modding/Jailbreaking, so if you are not offended by these methods, please read further. Anyway, I'm considering Softmodding one of these for my family and I. I am worried about the issue of the hard drive's safety. The HDD has to be off or disconnected when booting up the Wii U so it doesn't get corrupted by Nintendo's firmware or the "format disk" prompt doesn't pop up and the odds are certain of accidently selecting "format" instead of "cancel". My actual question (s) is: Are you knowledgeable on how the circuitry in the Wii U operate? If it's possible to maybe locate an area that is ideal to solder a jumper to the motherboard that can trigger an inverter that operates as an "on" toggle for an external HDD (or SSD) during appropriate/safe/useful times?.. Basically: I want to find an area that could trigger an inverter/toggle a switch for my external HDD and I was thinking of using a location on the motherboard that is in use/on (hopefully exclusively) when the Wii U firmware is wanting to either format the disk or trying to (undesirably) write to it. This way I won't have to worry about my kids accidentally formatting the drive or accidentally forgetting to disconnect the USB before the firmware writes and corrupts the content. I am sorry for not thinking of a more shortened version of my question and I apologise if you don't want anything to do with the subject of Jailbreaking/Modding. I looked multiple places and couldn't find anything close to what I am asking and most search engines don't come close to the subject. It's overly convoluted, I'm sorry. If you can give any insight, I would be very grateful. Thank you for your time

Then all my Wii U games stopped working, while Wii discs did. I had a problem just happen today after testing it out. I put a disc in, tried to eject it but it stopped, so I pushed it back in. I repeated this since it happened again, and it read as a "Wii U Cleaning Disc." Puzzled, I started it and it went through a cleaning screen.
    Do you think this is the disk drive or the discs themselves.

    My ribbon seems to work but the little connection it plugs into on the circuit board in the console broke off. Not just the black clip but the whole little circuit. Seems like a clean break. Can I solder it back on? If I push it back on and hold the ribbon in the red light comes on and blinks. Occasionally I can get the white light to come on for like a second but I never hear fans spinning/more of the unit coming to life before it shuts itself off.
    Thoughts on how to fix it?

    • @ChristianRogersMoneyBruh
      @ChristianRogersMoneyBruh Před 7 lety +1

      Nicholas Agustin if you still are dealing with AV cables I recommend you go buy some Wii Component cables if your tv supports it. It makes it better than AV but worse than HDMI. Or you can buy a Wii2HDMI to do that but it connects by hdmi but looks like component

    • @NicholasAgustin
      @NicholasAgustin Před 7 lety

      Thank you and I actually tried the Wii2HDMI cable lol. It works everyone, for my Wii U at least. I didn't think it would upscale but it actually does it's just that you have to go to the Wii U's settings after since it first reads it as a component cable at 480i. You have the options of choosing 720 and 1080 once you have this device. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008346V4O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Could you please help me .. here is my issue ..
    Hi,
    Problem : Wii-u working fine but no output on led tv through HDMI or component cable .. the console is getting powered and I can play games on the wii-u handheld controller(the controller with built in screen .. its working)
    I need help regarding Wii-u .. please help me if you can .. 1) well my power supply of wii u is broken so I used computer power supply(used a module which could boost the voltage to 15volts and can handle 6 amps) .. everything worked great for the first 2/3 days
    2) Now the problem ,, when i used my wii-u again(few weeks later) .. or couple of days later .. the wii-u console got powered on but .. the hdmi port is not outputting anything on TV ( there is no fault with the HDMI cable and there is no fault with the led TV) and even the component cable is not working ..
    PS: the console is getting powered from the computer power supply (with module i talked about) and the handeld wii-u controller is working fine(i can see display on it and can play games on it) ..and .. the only thing is HDMI to tv is not working and component cable is also not working .. My guess is some fuse is blown to protect the HDMI ic or some capacitor on the mobo is shorted .. could any1 with hardware mod experience help me please .. i will be really grateful.
    Regards
    Rahul

I'm wanting to install some LEDs inside the unit and was wandering if during the teardown process if you guys took the time to record/document power point (pinout) locations on the main board. I want to know what the location is for 12 volts, preferably switched, meaning the 12 volts would be active once the device gets turned on so that my mini smt LED's would then come on. • @Godzfirez
      @Godzfirez Před 6 lety +3

      Ironically Ironic not possible. It's not a PC. You take it apart so you can upgrade the thermal paste which in turn allows the CPU/GPU to boost clock better thus giving you an upgrade in performance. Fun fact about console teardowns. They all use pads and pads suck which is why a new console works better than a used one because that pad dries up. If you know what you are doing though cleaning off the old pad surface on the CPU and heatsink and applying something like arctic silver makes a huge difference in gameplay

    My Wii U won't power on. Something is tripping the AC Adapter. (Plug it in, the light blinks a few times then no light. Unplug the cord from the wall and unit for 2 minutes and rinse and repeat.) We've been having problems with the power jack for a while having to wiggle the cord to get the red light to even come on. We bought a new cord, but it didn't fix anything.I can't find any place to buy a new power jack to see if that helps. I'm going to try the tear down to get a good look at the jack connection to see if it is loose or something. Any suggestions? We paid several hundred a little over a year ago and of course, it stops working properly JUST over the warranty. I can't see throwing another hundred at it to send it into Nintendo when we could invest that into a different system. :(

    • @MrScreamingSilence
      @MrScreamingSilence Před 7 lety

      Only 2 things that pop into mind:
      1. The power connector on the mainboard is loose/broken and needs to be fixed
      2. a different adapter than the specified one was used that fried some connections
      I have to admit the second option would probably cause more problems overall, so that's rather unlikely.
      Search on eBay for "Original OEM Nintendo Wii U charging port connector", should be $
