We went and shot it yesterday (9/29/13) on the High Line in NYC. No one stopped no one knows :) gotta love this city! This song was written by Brandi Carlile.
I can't believe the people just jogging or walking on by! whether I knew who he was or not...I would have stopped dead in my tracks. you don't just jog or walk past something this beautiful. slow down and enjoy these random moments for what they are...soul touching.
Brandi Carlile and The Avett Brothers are my top two favorite bands, and have been a major influence and inspiration in my life. Few would realize how important Seth's cover of this is to me. Also, it's helped me through a rough first week of college to go back and watch this over (and over) again. It cheers me up. Thank you BCB, TAB, and of course Crackerfarm!
Not only do I love this music for the way it feeds my soul. But I feel like this "place" (the comments section of both avett brothers videos) is the only place on CZcams. Where I have yet to see any one being hateful or hurtful. I mean there are people consoling each other and relating through this music. And i love it! People say time heals all, well music certainly helps.
It truly is an awesome place. Sometimes scrolling down to read comments can be very unpleasant at times, but under these videos it's like a warm cup of coffee. Thanks for the artist name Sarah, I will have to check out her music!
Scott Avett also painted Brandi for the cover of her "By The Way, I Forgive You" album and she covered The Avett Brother's "Murder In The City" on her "The Firewatcher's Daughter" album.
I couldn't stop staring at the fanny pack. It was distant at first, then drew nearer in fits and starts. It was drawing me in like a moth to the flame. Oh yeah, the song was solid too.
This is absolutely beautiful. But I have a bad case of the giggles over the lady who half panics at the very end when she realizes she might be on video, after she had already been in about 95 % of said video 😂
Picturing myself on that bench right next to you, Seth! What a dream that would be. Gorgeous vocals, beautiful song! Love the title of this song, save part of yourself for me. 💖
Let's just say I was completely ignorant to who The Avett Brothers were and I had no idea Seth was this amazing artist. His heavenly voice and melodic guitar picking alone would stop me dead in my tracks. How can they just pass by like that?!?!?!
This is beautiful! I love that no one knows who he is... Makes me feel privledged to be an Avett fan. So excited for my double digit concert next month! :) #10 in St. Francisville, LA.
Im not much of a city type of guy, and isnt NYC one of the most crowded cities in the U.S.? How does no one know whos singing.. Haha Its probably just like here in Portland, there are a lot of homeless people sporting the same beard!! Haha no put downs, Im a bearded man myself haha.. This is pretty sweet! Thanks for all the priceless videos.. They are worth more than gold.
The sun came up and five years gone Life goes on, yeah, life goes on I wonder how you're gettin' by The sun goes down and I feel blue Now I toss 'cause my mind's on you And I kind of miss your broken smile Save part of yourself for me Won't you save part of yourself for me? I remember you and me Lost and young and dumb and free And unaware of years to come Just a whisper in the dark On the pavement in the park You taught me how to love someone So save part of yourself for me Won't you save part of yourself for me? When we walk into the sun Or burn below for what we've done Will you still call out for me? Turn to light or fade to black You don't look back, no, you don't look back At what you might not wanna see But save part of yourself for me Won't you save part of yourself for me? The sun goes down and five years gone Life goes on, yes, life goes on I hope you caught up with your dreams I hope you saved part of yourself for me Won't you save part of yourself for me? Save part of yourself for me
several days after watching this video a few times and reflecting on how no one stopped or recognized him, i had a dream that i walked by, sat and listened, and after recording, seth and i played "murder in the city" together. i woke up pleasantly.
Not even one person stopped or seemed to know who he was. Unbelievable!!! If I was walking down the street and saw Seth Avett playing his guitar and singing you better believe I'm stopping.
Crackerfarm; keep posting these gems !! I look forward to hearing all the new material as I am such a huge fan of the Avett Brothers....their music inspires me, clears my head, and makes me feel great about life....Someday, I hope that I can get a chance to see them live as I know that it would be an incredible experience....thank you again for all you do
"i kinda miss your broken smile" ..I totally would have stopped to listen to you seth!! Ill see you at red rocks for all three shows this summer. Stay easy my friend.

I don't know either. I keep a kapo on my Martin quite a bit & it has left a bit of a wear spot, but hardly noticable. I don't play as often or take it on the road either, though.
Amazing. Thank you Mike and Seth. I often wonder if you guys really know how amazing this stuff is for fans.....like REALLY know. Oh to be one of those passerbys.....Oh well, I'd probably just embarrass myself. ;)
good point. could be. wouldn't think martin make a big deal about it. if it is worn its pretty evening worn. most time capos on a martin will be placed in middle to fit right. but who knows.
Sounds great! I'm surprised no one stopped. You must have been there relatively early in the morning? I've never seen the Highline that empty. Glad you all enjoyed my city. I would love to see the Avett Brothers here more often, especially in Brooklyn!
Can't go wrong with Seth Avett covering Brandi Carlile. Both beautiful musicians. Love them so much.
If there would ever be a better day to walk the high line I couldn't imagine it.
I hope Brandi Carlile is proud of this cover. Because it is perfect. Seth is always so respectful of the material of others.
with inspiration, determination, and imagination comes true greatness... God has def blessed him as well as his brother and it shows in every song

One of the best covers currently in existence. His beautiful vocals are unmatched.

He's covering Brandi Carlile, and I have found that her fans are as equally awesome!!! Isn't it refreshing?

Reason #53530 why I love these guys....because they send these gifts to us on a gorgeous Sunday morning. Love, love, love & love.
I can't believe noone stopped! Even if you didn't know who he is, the song is beautiful!
I would lose my mind if I happened on Seth/Scott playing in some random nook
I couldn't stop staring at the fanny pack. It was distant at first, then drew nearer in fits and starts. It was drawing me in like a moth to the flame. Oh yeah, the song was solid too.
Still so beautiful. Love this too much.
Two of my favorite artists. Avett Bros and Brandi Carlisle
Everything about this is perfect.
I wish I could like this harder than I already have - thank you Seth!
One of my favorites.
This is absolutely beautiful.
But I have a bad case of the giggles over the lady who half panics at the very end when she realizes she might be on video, after she had already been in about 95 % of said video 😂
I realize I'm kind of randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to watch new tv shows online ?
She was faking, she knew what she was doing.
Love brandi and abbet brothers. So great to see another rendition from one to the other.
Picturing myself on that bench right next to you, Seth! What a dream that would be. Gorgeous vocals, beautiful song! Love the title of this song, save part of yourself for me. 💖
Damn man 5 years ago I thought I knew and this song cuts sharper even now love these guys and have so many memories there

My favorite. Ever. Thank you Seth.
This will always have a place in my heart.

Singing straight to the soul.
I absolutely love this song. ♥️
What a perfect soul!!
Brings a tear to my eye.
That's some grand-master level shit right there! The feels.
The sun came up and five years gone
Life goes on, yeah, life goes on
I wonder how you're gettin' by
The sun goes down and I feel blue
Now I toss 'cause my mind's on you
And I kind of miss your broken smile
Save part of yourself for me
Won't you save part of yourself for me?
I remember you and me
Lost and young and dumb and free
And unaware of years to come
Just a whisper in the dark
On the pavement in the park
You taught me how to love someone
So save part of yourself for me
Won't you save part of yourself for me?
When we walk into the sun
Or burn below for what we've done
Will you still call out for me?
Turn to light or fade to black
You don't look back, no, you don't look back
At what you might not wanna see
But save part of yourself for me
Won't you save part of yourself for me?
The sun goes down and five years gone
Life goes on, yes, life goes on
I hope you caught up with your dreams
I hope you saved part of yourself for me
Won't you save part of yourself for me?
Save part of yourself for me
so beautiful. always brings back memories

Whoever the 9 dislikers are, I'd like to meet you and just have a.. chat...
+Christopher McGhee I think there are people that go around downvoting just to downvote. For real.
Unreal
Those people walked right past an angel without even knowing it.
GREAT!!
Cant believe no ones stopping and aware of seth
How could you just run by Seth like that..... if only these people knew.
Sounds great! I'm surprised no one stopped. You must have been there relatively early in the morning? I've never seen the Highline that empty.
Glad you all enjoyed my city. I would love to see the Avett Brothers here more often, especially in Brooklyn!
Great song.
Awkward moment: Being caught on camera wearing a fanny pack..
as soon as i read that i looked up to video to see a stutter step and it was over... ha!
Is there any way we could spare all the lustful comments from the female fans for a change? It gets old. Incredible talent and beautiful music!
Jim Schock agreed, and most of them are liberal who blab on about sexism but it’s ok for them to lust🤣
He's a great singer the way he sways is funny in a good way kinda like a muppet in a good way
