  • How do you strengthen your hamstrings when you can't stand up? This simple hamstring exercise will build leg strength even if you are stuck in a wheel chair. Over time, you'll improve your leg strength so you can stand up. This leg exercise is especially helpful if you are stuck in a wheelchair.

Matt! This is Eve! Thank you so much for creating this video! The information you shared in the email helped my dad so much. Due to limited space, I modified the exercise slightly so I hold a wider exercise band and place it under my dad's leg to provide the same type of resistance. When we first started, he didn't want to do it claiming the band was too stiff. I adjusted the tension while still offering resistance. Over time, I can see there's progress! He can now do 5 sets with tension held for 20 secs each. Now when I ask if he's done he'll say "one more" and that's how we moved up to 5 sets! I can see he stands with more stability now and while there is still a long way to go, you've given me and many other in similar circumstances with feasible life changing options. I can now build off these additional variations! Words can't express how thankful I am! Continued success in all that you do.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Handy exercise and modifications for anyone. I could use these to work on hamstrings at home with a short band on a table leg.

As an older adult, but not yet chair bound or anything, I will admit that my day to day does not have much range of motion in my work and activities. Also, with not much available of space or equipment, I have realized how much tighter everything is getting, and not in a good way, long term. This video especially!, among all your great examples and suggestions from other videos I have grown from, is something I can easily incorporate into my life. I do have some light bands which I try to use to effect, but a method like this as an example has blown my mind open how much more I can do for myself with ready available fixtures and movements which you have shown before. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for your continued sharing and positive re-enforcement of how to take care of ourselves and even when to ask for help.🤟

Recently I observed a physical therapist from a major California hospital working with a senior patient. The therapist was helping the patient stand up from a chair, perform resistance band exercises for legs. However, the therapist did not let her patient squat or deadlift. The patient is mostly sitting on a chair or leaning on a headboard of a bed most of a day. So, the patient has no leg muscles or back muscles. Because of no back muscles, she is hunched. She definitely needs to perform squat and deadlift to build those muscles. Am I wrong?

No muscle, no movement. No movement, no muscle.

I guess for max comfort, you could attach the carabier to shoelaces of your favorite shoes.
