    If the goal is to have live emu chicks then yes it's your fault. If you are really just showing 'content' well.. you had success. To call this 'nature' being 'nature' is a bit of a reach as your Farm is not 'natural'.. none are. I would suppose it just depends on what you what to accomplish at the end of the day but I will say that as 'caretakers' of these animals that you have accepted responsibility for... that IS your responsibility to care and take every step in insuring their safety... even from those who should instinctively know.

      Ahh yes, watch over every chick that hatches on our farm for every minute of the day because an adult bird is unable to take care of their young as nature intended. Or better yet, he died from some natural cause. But sure, blame me.

      @@whitehouseonthehill Some people have very strong opinions and lack the maturity to use tact, or the sanity to allow others to do life different.
      Please do not let these people bring you down.
      I watch your videos because you are real and I like to see different ways of doing things.
      I hope you dont allow these little social media dictators to discourage you. It seems they are everywhere. They love conflict and attention. They love to feel superior to others by tearing people down. Its all they have. Pathetic really.
      Some used to say dont feed the trolls. I personally think they deserve zero attention. Honestly, a lot of them are animal rights activists and its probably better to block them. They are likely looking for any oportunity to stir up some drama.
      If they thought they had anything worthwhile or valuable to share they would start their own channel and open themselves up to the world. They obviously have nothing to offer so they try to drag down people like you that have worked your butt off for the things you have achieved.

    • @verona316
      @verona316 Před 15 dny +8

      Absolutely, 100% correct. New [animal] parents still have to learn how to parent- just like us! I have had many a first time goat mum lose a baby, I have had ducks and chickens abandon babies, first time cow mamas needing help to get it right.... sometimes they lose a baby regardless.

      @iheart801 Před 15 dny +1

      I was thinking this as well. I have Parakeets and have had some of them have bred and well the first time parents don't always know exactly what to do and can accidentally hurt the babies (which can unfortunately lead to their death). Just like us, they do their best, but sometimes that still is not enough.

    So sorry you lost the first one. Maybe you could put a camera in there so if anything good or bad happens you'd have a better idea of why. I think people in the comments can be ignorant of how fragile life can be for animals. You can do everything right and still have losses. I personally love your videos and appreciate how well you care for your animals! You are learning as you go and making adjustments where you can! Please try not to be discouraged by people who react from an emotional place. They probably don't have the knowledge or experience to understand the situation they are judging. ❤

    Jake I have been following your channel and family for many years and I don't think I've ever commented on your videos until now. I have watched y'all grow. And I have learned so many things. Y'all have inspired me. It's because of y'all I started my own flock. And raised my own birds. One thing that stuck with me the most....was that we can't always control what happens. Things happen and it, by all means, is not your fault. It's life. And it's nature..
    People are going to find fault no matter what you decide to do because everyone thinks they know better. I know it gets tough to ignore those comments. But just know there are a lot of us who support you and your decisions. Y'all are great all the way around. Keep pushing forward! I'm excited to see more Bert babies!!!!

After years of watching, I know just how much you care about ALL of your animals and how hard you try to give them the the best care. Nature is fickle and even when you do everything right, death can still come. My thoughts exactly. I never hatch anything bigger than goose, but this chick took it time and the legs where not looking to good, I know some birds can look like this at being with legs ( button quails give me always hart attack in this department) but if something was wrong Bert might rejected,like it would happen in wild. I did grow up on farm and witnessed something like rejection off spring because was weak or sick off and not only in birds , just part of nature. Is sad but sometimes nothing you can do , you can’t be there 24/7 , this way rest off your animal would suffer and other things might go wrong on farm.

    Without knowing the exact cause of the death, no one is to blame. Based on years of raising poultry (I’m retired now), I believe the hatchling emu was what breeders call a straggler or weakling. They are not uncommon. It took too long for it to get out of the egg, its feet were clenched (you noticed that), and its balance was unstable (flopped around). Compare it to the other hatchling and the difference is readily seen. Chances are that no matter what was done, it would not have survived and its death could not have been prevented. Stop the misplaced blame and concentrate on the successes.

    Please ignore the cruel remarks. I grew up on a farm and these things happen. It is not always sunshine and roses. You guys are great with all your animals and so loving. Be strong and know you always do your best and it comes across loud and clear. I love you guys and know you are very conscious of doing your best always.

    You all are awesome. Anyone can see how much you love your animals. Ignore the hateful people. You aren’t to blame.

    It was really exciting to see those eggs hatching. I have been a subscriber for over 3 or 4 years and remember watching bamboo hatching,I know you have been working on hatching emus for years and it is frustrating and sad to see one died just after hatching but it is great that other eggs hatching and hopefully we will watch them grow like bamboo

  • @sandyoklahomatransient8557

    Jake, Becky, and Family,
    No one should blame you for this emu not surviving. You did absolutely the right thing. Ernie needed to hatch, and take care of the emu. In nature these things happen. I have said a prayer that Ernie continues to take care of this emu, and it survives.
    Hang in there!
    Hugs to Y'all.

    I am sorry you lost the chick. People often judge us thinking they could have done it better. I am also happy for your successes. You have such a heart for animals. Don't let the hecklers get to you.

      Those who think they could have done it better are those who have zero farm experience, therefore no need to take their opinion on board xx ❤

    It's a double edged sword. If you know you have done everything possible for these eggs to hatch successfully and the hatchlings to survive, then there's no one to blame. Even in the wild, nature will take its course and only the strongest will survive. I know it's heartbreaking to lose them after all the work you put into this. Just know that you did all that you could.
