Awesome job!
Thank you! I’m a big fan of your work! There’s an oldshovel easter egg in the background as a nod. 👍🏽
Yes
@@CowboyTomi "OldShovel" was the first thing that came into my mind when I saw it :)
Hope u answer me does kona sutra 2014 good?
@@nadirbechkri6422 all Kona’s are good
One of the best restoration work I must say. Converting to disk brakes and a mtb to a touring bike man its just WoW.
Thank you!
Excellent build! I like what you've chosen to do, and these classic Kona frames deserve to live on!
Thank you kindly!
As an owner of a three old, steel Konas that is what I call a dream build..... cracking job, young man.
Thank you!
"Sit back, relax and enjoy the sounds of bike maintenance". Wonderful.
Looks really good. Old steel bikes can come up a treat. You did a great job.
Thank you!
Impressive job ! Congrats from France :)
Thank you!

Thank you!
Amazing restoration and conversion to disc brakes. Can't wait for more content
Thank you!
+1
Great rebuild and recycle. Love the braised on bits. I remember this model back in the 90s it always had great reviews I nearly bought one but went alloy instead.
Thank you!
What a groovy build! Love it!!!
Thank you!
So inspirational, thank you for sharing
It turned out wonderful!
Thank you! It’s definitely one of my favs to ride!
Perfect ride! Lovely bike!
Thank you!
that gave an insight of how to install a hanger for the rear disc brake calipers. Nice build!
Thank you!
Love the build.
How i wish this is my bike. More vids like this one, dope work! Supporting from Philippines!

Great Work!!!!!!!!!
I love this build , thanks for great video
thank you!!
6:01 love how you did the disks
Awesome video and build 👏👏
Well done. Good job. I did the same with a Claud Butler banshee. Turned out great.
I wish you all the best with your channel.
Thank you! Cheers!
another excellent build !!!!
Thank you!!
Great video bike looks amazing. Way to go on the welding I would have totally screwed that up. Enjoy cheers
Very nice - I've never seen a disc conversion build filmed well. I found a very modified '92 Hahana on the curb from someone moving out last week, so far I've only put on some nice wide maxxis dth tires but this video has given me all kinds of ideas.
oldshovel has great video about disc conversion build: Nostalgia | Bike Restoration Build | 1994 Kona Explosif
Nice Restoration. Love Kona Bikes.
Thank you! Kona is great
amazing build! 👍👍👍
Thank you!
Outstanding!
Thank you!
Awesome job, awesome bike!
Thank you so much!
Very detailed work😎 looks great 👍

Wow!! What an amazing job the weld modifications truely make it a crazy cool build. Sub'ed!
Thank you!!
Have fun. Sweet build.
Thank you!
Great build!
Thank you!
I'm enjoying these rebuild videos. Also looking forward to some bikepacking content.
Thank you!
This is a great build, Congrats!! I'm getting ready to start hacking and modifying a old 80s ATB for bikepacking myself.
Thanks! It was a fun one. Good luck on the build!
Heat gun + plastic razor blade is the best way I've found to remove stickers. Never tried it for factory decals, though. Love the tremendous knife approach.
Thank you!!!
So impressed well done
Thank you!
Beautiful work 👌🏻
Thank you!
Lovely build, really nice co-ordination of colours and parts. I've just built up an '89 cinder cone and it rides amazingly well, I kept the rusty old original splatter paint as I feel like it's a bit of a classic (and I couldn't find decals nor skills to recreate it!) in fact I'm going for a pedal now. Ciao!
amazing! there’s something about the old Kona’s geometry that makes it just so perfect. Thank you! Cheers!
Killer job bud! Love the build 👍 subscribed.
Thank yoU!
Great job!!!
Thank you!
super cool project!
Thanks!!!
Cool project and Great job buddy 👍
Thank you! Much appreciated!
Can see more essence of Oldshovel now. Finding a good pair of 26" is becoming much harder for old-school stuff. Welding a caliper is giving more options. Good job!
Thank you! There’s an oldshovel easter egg in the video for the audience!
@@CowboyTomi Yes! I can see where “sit back and relax” idea comes from.

YOU ARE A SUPERSTAR COWBOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just fall in love🥰 superbb
Nicely done.
Thank you!
Great video!
thank you!
These 90s chromoly frames are such a great bargain, chromoly steel is a great material to make a bicycle frame of, imo the best cause it's very durable. My own commuter I built from a 90s chromoly MTB frame which I managed to convert to 650b wheels, and I use 32 gravel tires, which are my favored wheel size now 👍
Awesome. Currently working on an early 2000s kona haha a for Bikepacking! Very helpful video
Thank you!
GOD JOB !!!!
MAN
Thank you!
Great job! Way to just do it!
Bro you are one of a kind, nice work🇰🇭
Thank you!
Highly recommend clear coating that paint job, maybe even use a 1K or 2K clear to protect that blue and the hard work you put into those logos. Good job
i did happen to use clear, I just didn’t film it. thank you!
Amazing video.
I have an old 1985 Ross St Hellen's mtb I bought some bottle bosses and rack mount bosses to add to the frame. I'm a refrigeration tech so I have torches and silver solder experience. Can't wait to mod some old steel frames! You might look into powder coating for paint in the future. Here $75 they strip and coat frame and fork 1 color. $75 is worth it to remove the old paint! Only those that have hand stripped a steel frame know the work involved! Your project came out great!
Thank you so much! Yes, I've redone the paint for this build and it is still holding up!
Nice job.
Thank you!
I was worry a little seeing the welding with the sticks, but you surprised me and pull it off wonderfully. applause your effort. I live in Capital Hill area, see you around. Happy riding.
Thank you! It was the cheapest and fastest option I guess, definitely learned a lot during the process! Definitely!
Great Projekt ❤️👌
Nice job! Bong
OKUN!
Perfect, very beautiful
That's the exact same color I painted a motorcycle. 4 coats primer, 4 coats this speckled blue paint, 4 coats of clear. Wet sanding between all the layers. turned out glossy smooth.
Yes!
Dream bike!🚲🔥👍🤗
You got down on this restoration.
I try my best! Thanks!!

Welcome Sir!
Im surprised you put so much effort to that junk and made it Super cool, now everyone wants to ride
Thank you!
@@CowboyTomi most welcome
Great to see someone else making old bikes like new, especially with welding disc mounts. Im curious, why You left frame pivot untouched? Also like the colour and graphics concept, but paintwork and stickers could go better, paint had no time to become dry and stiff enought. Also haven't seen clearcoating taking place. 3x8 is my favourite choice in most of bikes, but I'm not convinced with it on bickpacking one. Nowadays 1x10 is enough, especially with steel frames, where lack of fd+shifter and 2 chainrings on crank compensates difference on weight in comparison to alu frames.Hope to see more, cheers!
Do you think stripping the paint completely before giving it a new color would be useful as well?
@@bryanflo4500 IT depends on quality of that paint, reasons it needs to be replaced. Rusty steel and oxydised alu requires fully frame stripping and proper treating before painting, also primer should be choosen differently then. Paint with bumps, scraches and small defects needs only polishing to even the surface to hide differences in layer thikness. Also very old paint can be clear coated if It's in overally good condition and was stored in building, but when It's falling off from one place sun probably made It's work and will fall off soon everywhere.
Fantastic!
Many thanks!
This man obsessed with Park tool.
Gotta have the best!
beautiful video and bike , greetings from colombia Tomi
Thank you! Cheers!
Just subscribed. Amazing bike , gorgeous color. Dig the P2 forks and the old Kona bikes.
Thank you!! Welcome to the channel! P2 forks really are timeless.
Nice restoration 👍🏻
Thank you!
@@CowboyTomi ur welcom
Love the restoration , by the way I painted a Redline pro line 24 the same blue👍
Amazing! Thank you!
Lovely, lovely bike. Bet the 3x9 works in every way...in my humble opinion way better than the 1x12 systems being pushed these days. Great.
I agree, the gears are really nice to have. I can appreciate the 1x system for its minimalism, but having those three rings is super clutch!
impressing !
Thank you!
Cool channel, greetings from Hamburg :)
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice find, great build...
almost had a similar Kona..,it sold fast though
Thank you!
Nice build! Great effort. I wish I had the patience and talent you possess. On another note, you must live close to an airport and are underneath their flight path (departure flights)
Thank you! Yes, I’m a few miles away from the airport and in the cross path. Being close to boeing doesn’t help either 😅
great job
Thank yoU!
Good bike
Great job. Hello from Greece...
Amazing. Thank you! Cheers!

Amazing 🤩 nice work 🔥🔥🔥I have a specialized rockhopper, 26” frame 2000 and I want to make a commuter bike and put those brakes on and the BELT DRIVE SPLITTER KEYED, but here in Florida I don't know who does that job.
Great job I am in the middle of doing a bikepacking bike my self cannondale f900 98 but the paint job on it is good and will be putting mounts on the fork but I will be using the rivet type of bolt mount things lol but really like the video will be watching more good job 👍🤟🇨🇦
Nice! Sounds like a fun project! Rivet Nuts is a good way to go! Thank you and good luck! Happy riding.
