  • Finding the perfect classes to take the first step in your dream can be scary. There's no right choice, but I'm hoping to make the process a bit clearer and easier.

    I'm really wating for your great video as you always uploaded. Thank you for uploading and sharing your thought about Meisner Technique and your great experiences.
    I 'm looking forward to your next clip. They're really helpful to remind what I leared about Meisner Technique in New York about 9 years ago. I'm in Korea. I'm asking for understanding my language barriers. ;)

    I love that you've asked if you can learn acting online. I would say you can learn a lot from online acting classes but it's no substitute for in person acting classes. I also don't think you can learn it from just reading it. Doing is different to reading. Yes I study the Meisner technique so I know how important the actual doing is compared to just simulating it.

      hi 30 darlo - thank you for watching and taking the time to reach back - and sandy was very clear about trying to learn his approach from a book but at least the books help a new generation get introduced to sandy's genius. my best to you - jim

    Hi from England! I love your video classes Jim. Please could you offer advice on how to use Meisner when you have a director who is micro-managing your movements and how you say your lines?

    • @TheMeisnerTechniqueStudio
      @TheMeisnerTechniqueStudio  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Paul,
      Thank you for watching. This is a tricky situation. Not all directors are trained to work well with Meisner-trained actors, but almost all directors want good work from their actors, regardless of how it is achieved. If you feel comfortable, I would recommend talking to the director to explain the training you have and why it has been effective for you. If they are uninterested in that style of working, I would recommend doing your best within the constraints that they set, so as to not abandon the project, and then make a future plan to not work with directors who don't respect your acting technique.
      Many different techniques and approaches can work together beautifully, but it's important to respect whatever works for the individual, and if you feel that your processes are not being respected, that most likely isn't the most appropriate environment for you.

    Hi Jim. If someone from the UK would like to Study Meisner which Coach/class would you recommend?. That reminds me is it ok to do amateur dramatics?. Or will this adversley effect my choice in acting method?. My experience of zoom class was the students didnt interact and we had very little time actually speaking to the Tutor as there was 12 students.

    • @TheMeisnerTechniqueStudio
      @TheMeisnerTechniqueStudio  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi, we don't have any studios that we recommend in the UK, since there are none with which we work closely. We'd recommend getting to work to explore if acting continues to ignite this fire in you when you're doing it day-to-day, but it's critical to get into a good class in order to take your career to the next level. We have never and would never teach The Meisner Technique on Zoom, so we'd agree with your experience with online classes

    Hello , I am Omar from Syria i am studying acting , the fourth year in the higher institute of dramatic art,
    I know that acting is not about crying in the scene ..but unconscious when i reach the some emotional moments and don't cry , i lose my focus and think why I didn't cry and what was wrong , how i get rid of this ?
    Another question, while i am in the backstage i traied many ways to constraint , i began to re imagen the life of my character and the emotional memories and then go up to the stage .
    Or sometims i just put a slow music and try to not thinking in any think .
    So what is the best to do ?
    Thank u 💗💗

    • @TheMeisnerTechniqueStudio
      @TheMeisnerTechniqueStudio  Před 2 lety

      hi omar, you get it rid of it by stop trying to cry and feel the need/pressure to cry - it all choke you talent and emotion EVERY time - instead freedom not pressure. re: your second question, whatever works is the right answer = Jim
