    Question for anyone out there. I used to race enduros from the late 60's to the late 70's in the USA and if I remember right the race was given a miles per hour average say 24mph and when you got to a check point you where given
    penalty points for every minute crossing late and double for crossing early. These enduros I've been watching seam to be more like the hare scrambles I used race which was fastest time wins. Can anybody clarify for me. Thanks

    • @cagleccc
      @cagleccc Před 6 lety +2

      Most races now are point to point (hare scramble style) some are still time kept like the ISDE. Romaniacs i believe is total time each day, and placement is decided by your time each day. Then all days added together for the overall.

    One reason you are so good at the real steep sections, has to be that you psych yourself into thinking that guy coming up behind you as you are struggling, has a chainsaw, and is after you. Fear as motivation. Just kidding, even if that's what it sounds like.

    • @tylernicholson5319
      @tylernicholson5319 Před 6 lety +1

      When the bike is off you can modulate the clutch to achieve your rear wheel engine breaking. That's the main reason I think.

    • @spastor92
      @spastor92 Před 6 lety

      with the bike stoped you can break releasing the clutch if you can't break with the pedal

    • @thatmtbguy5211
      @thatmtbguy5211 Před 6 lety +1

      See I though that's what it was but it was always easier for me to just use the break but I guess everyone's different lol thanks guys appreciate it

    • @tylernicholson5319
      @tylernicholson5319 Před 6 lety

      On the real steep downhills you want to avoid locking up your tire while braking, which reduces braking effectiveness. With bulky riding boots on, I've always found the rear brake pedal to be essentially a switch, you're either not braking or you're on full-lock. It's hard to be in between. Maybe that's just me though, I ride a 4-stroke so I use engine breaking to slow myself primarily anyways.
