Undoubtedly one of the greatest diplomats of the 20th century
One of the best Soviet politicians, the only probably, real diplomat.
Легенда мировой дипломатии Громыко,великий человек
»» " А. А. Громыко был очень грамотным» умный» Спокойной Человек."...
In 1984, I was 20 years old. Mr Reagan has been my favorite US president ever since. As a young guy, I didn't like the fact that we Hungarians were commanded by the Soviet Union, who repressed our 1956 war of independence. But I have to say, every time Mr. Gromiko was shown on TV, I felt like he was a sympathetic, very smart person, a true gentleman.
Thats my grandad!
Видно Громыка был очен мудрым и силный МИД СССР, сейчас в этот должности работает уважаемый Лавров!

Gromyko would later describe his decision to support Gorbachev's election as general secretary as one of the biggest mistakes of his life, citing the latter's incompetence. He died in July 1989, just months before the world order he helped to secure at Yalta and Potsdam began to fall apart. Trivia: he loved American fedora hats.
Super!!!!
Minister Gromyko seems to be even more confident than President Reagan. After all, Gromyko had worked with so many US Presidents and had visited the White House as Soviet Ambassador long time ago when Mr. Reagan was probably a student))
Последний из магикан старой гвардии СССР.

George Shultz gave President Reagan talking points written out in cards for this meeting, and Reagan handed them back, telling his Sec. of State that he'd thought long and hard about what he wanted to say to the Russians, and wouldn't need them. When it came to the US/Soviet dialogue, President Reagan insisted in speaking in his own voice.
