This costs about $40 dollars in seals. I only install new seals in tractors I'm going to paint.
I use the plastic because the pitted axle shaft cuts the lip of the seals. Never had one leak after using this technique.
Damn, learned something new. I have literally been a mechanic for over forty years and have never see the wrap the shaft in plastic trick before. Pretty smart.
Thanks.
Your Welcome. Started doing this once I ruined several seals.
thanks learned something new everyday
Love these DB videos.
Hey Buddy, just checking in to see how you are doing. Hope you are doing great!!!
Hi I’m the 91st subscriber, Trevor!!!
Thanks Audrey!
Travis I can't imagine anyone with a DB not looking at this video. Everyone wonders how involved it would be but are too nervous to do it. So they keep wiping up 30 weight oil off the floor. Do you use 30 weight in the transaxle or a heavier oil? Thanks for this great video.
Great video , I have one question . How or what did you use to remove the old seals ?
I've seen pilot holes drilled on either side of the shaft into the seal and sheet metal screws screwed into the seal and then prayed out with pry bars and wood blocks placed under end of pry bar and against the case.
Is there a video on taking the ratchet asm . And hubs off of axles ?
So, why wrap the shaft in plastic? We've always just used a coat of oil to lube the axle up to put them in. Also, why use 2? 1 always seems to work just fine
If one axle is larger than the other, is that a super 600?
The model # is 917.575 135
What seal # would I need for the bigger shaft?
Why do you need ,4 there are only ,,2 on the tractor ?
DO YOU HAVE ANY DB PARTS FOR SALE
