      @dabbyabb Před rokem +570

      Yes, this one is SPECIFICALLY for getting pee smell out and yeah, maybe it's difficult and time consuming, but if one can of shaving cream can rescue a bathroom from never smelling clean no matter how clean you get it, it's worth it.
      I used it and will absolutely use it again whenever a bathroom builds up a residual pee smell. It works.

      I don't know what's in it that works but I can tell you I used vinegar and bleach (not at the same time 💀) before trying it. It was a residual smell that would linger when I cleaned no matter what I cleaned with, until I tried the shaving cream. Maybe it's the chemicals that make it foamy? I really don't know but I can tell you there's more to this than people just spending extra time, effort and money for no reason.

      @@ms.pirateshaving cream is way more time consuming, so it’s only worth it (to me personally) if there’s no alternative. I can clean my bathroom with other products three times over before I finish getting all the shaving cream off. Shaving cream is also super expensive
      I think the shaving cream hack started as a genuinely good hack for specific situations, but through internet telephone got turned into “oh just use this anytime you clean your bathroom” which is overkill IMO

    The thing that’s really scary about all the cleaning hacks is how often people don’t know what the cleaner they’re using actually is. We don’t need to know the chemicals compound for everything in our homes, but if it’s something we’re going to be handling often or using a lot of, its really important to the basics about what it’s best for and what it should/n’t be mixed with.

    Another tip for wooden utensils.
    Clean them immediately and DONT SOAK THEM!!! You will ruin your utensils same goes for the dishwasher. The water will split the wood and allow bacteria to fester in the cracks. Also why you need to clean then right away, to prevent bacteria from seeping into the woods natural pores. Wash with a mild detergent and warm water. It's also recommended to oil (food safe obvs) them when needed, to help with the moisture regulation of the wood so it won't immediately absorb the dirty sink water lol.
    Also, never let paintbrushes soak as it will not only ruin the wood but also destroy the glue keeping the handle attached, resulting in the metal tip falling off the handle (If you want to extend their lifetime, try to avoid dipping your brush past the metal to protect the glue and wood)

      Hi! I'm here to add some more info to the paintbrush bit! Assuming you (general you, person reading this comment) are using a normal sized mixer palette and acrylics or oil, it is much more convenient to use a _spatula_ to mix, so the brushes are just used when you need them to paint. That way the paint doesn't get to the metal part of the brush while mixing.
      (I mentioned the "normal sized mixer palette" because I've got no idea about working with big canvases and mixing big batches of paint, so I can't comment there... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

      If the grout is dirty, the seal is already gone. That's the purpose of sealed grout. My husband is a flooring contractor and toilet bowl cleaner is the go to when the grout is dirty. He just reseals when it's done.

    • @michaelbricky
      @michaelbricky Před rokem +29

      The Pink Stuff is an abrasive cleaner. It says it on every container. But, since it is a mild abrasive, they suggest that as long as you don't press too hard on glass, it will probably not scratch. Here is the warning from the back of a container: "Cautions: Do not use on plastic or acrylic surfaces or highly polished stainless steel. Do not use on hot or warm surfaces. Do not apply too much pressure on glass and ceramic hobs as it may scratch the surface." So I'd say it's really a "use at your own risk" on glass situation. For someone who doesn't have good control of the pressure they're using, it would be best to clean glass surfaces with a non-abrasive glass cleaner.

      @Martian61 Před rokem +6

      I agree. I don’t have to even scrub it hard with the pink stuff and mine hasn’t scratched. But most people don’t let it set and scrub furiously.

    Shaving cream on mirrors is a great fog preventative though! You only need a small amount, for my mirror it’s about the size of a tangerine.
    It does leave a *very slight* film on the mirror, but it’s barely noticeable. You’d want the cheap east one you can find, and not the blue expanding one.

    Pink stuff paste is very gritty and does scratch surfaces. It also does not clean well. I used it in my white porcelain kitchen sink and it did not take out any stains or grime. Then I rinsed it all off and filled the sink with hot water and added vinegar and baking soda and let it sit for about 5 minutes. When I drained it and rinsed and wiped the sink was white again and the grime and stains were gone. I didn’t even have to scrub.

    I've been cleaning and tried many things to find better more effective and efficient about half of the time good elbow grease & patience is what is required. Trial and errors have taught me a lot as well as quietly watching my parents who are fortunately or unfortunately "perfectionists". iE. I created pastes for porcelain sinks, although effective, I'd not recommend to anyone as they'd create fumes.
    Prior to the clothe stripping craze, I call it "degrease", I too was "degreasing" my clothes but in buckets & only when I felt it necessary & w/a decreasing solution, I wasn't about to go through the process of creating a degreaser when there are products on the market (which can get expensive) but if you love particular clothing articles or you wish to hand down your childrens favorite items. One tip for saving some fave articles... never reuse whites or lights twice in a row without laundering the lighter the item. Natural body oils, dead skin cells & lotions are not kind to whites and lights, they can go from new to dinghy in just a few outings.

    The only thing I would use in my bathroom after washing and completing everything is. I would actually put shaving cream on the middle mirror And wipe it off. It will keep all the steam moisture off of it. It's good and will probably work for about 2 and a 1/2 weeks.
