    The only problem with Endocrinologist waiting, is that they don’t check antibodies like they should. I ended up with very high TPO antibodies, until I ended up with encephalitis. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Thank you for your videos! Hashimotos & PSA here. ♥️

    I hope you see this question: early in disease, the ANA can flip flop positive to negative before the AI disorder “settles in”. To help diagnose Sjogrens, Ro and La are supposed to be positive but not everyone with Sjogrens will have Ro and La. Many women goes years without a diagnosis of the AI they have!! Have you ever ordered the Early Sjogrens Panel when you suspect Sjogrens but the usual tests are negative? Also, why do Sjogrens and RA travel together? What’s their connection?? Thank you😊

    • @ohfifi
      @ohfifi Před 2 lety

      Also with my +ANA and “very high” +TPO, I do have hypothyroid symptoms (difficulty maintaining weight, brittle nails, cold hands and feet, poor wound healing, androgenetic alopecia, dry hair). However, my GP and dermatologist said my thyroid function is normal. So with this silent autoimmunity to thyroid, what other tests should I do (ie full antibody panel)? Should I get a rheumatologist to do a full work up? Should I also go to the endocrinologist to do a full work up?

  • @cbutler9540
    @cbutler9540 Před 5 měsíci +1

    My Rheumatologist says hypothyroidism and Hashimoto and the treatment of this disease is the same so not necessarily needs a thyroid blood panel orAn antibody test. I have RA ,Sarcoidosis other unknown connective tissue disease .I want to be tested for this so I know what is happening

    I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism approximately 30 years ago. I took pills for 15 years. When I moved to Hawaii, it took a month or so to find a doctor. He tested my blood to see where I was at with my hypothyroidism, and announced I had no problem. He's rechecked every year and still no problem. I was told I would have to take synthroid the rest of my life, 30 years ago and haven't for the last 15. Is this normal?

    Hi I’m 27 and have 56.86 Iu/mL TPO antibodies (normal was under 5.6 iu/mL), and normal TSH, T4,T3. I feel like I’ve had symptoms of Hashimotos recently (ex. High LDL cholesterol, fatigue, temple hair loss, puffy face, depression) My doctor said I need to get tested again 6 months from now. I wish i knew how to prevent any potential diagnosis and naturally heal my body. My mother has hypothyroidism/hashimoto/vitiligo, but she developed it in her late 40s.

    Hi! I'm confused on a result I got an I was hoping you could maybe give me some clarification as well as some possible questions I can bring up at my next appointment. So a while ago I started to feel super sick, and my tsh was checked and it was almost 5. So it def was out of optimal range. We just did another check because my birthmom has hashimotos and im having all the symptoms and my tsh and all that were normal, maybe not optimal, but in their standard range. But what's confusing me is that my TPO at the time was 12. Now I don't exactly know what to make of this because alot of people say it needs to be under 34, then alot say under 9, and alot say 0. What confuses me more is the 34 and the 9 tests have the same unit of measurement. I've heard from alot of sources that generally if theres no thyroid disease or autoimmune issue in a man, then your tpo should be 0. All this different info is so confusing and I just want to be able to discuss the proper stuff with my doc so he takes me seriously

    • @ConnectedRheumatology
      @ConnectedRheumatology  Před 3 lety

      I know it's so confusing! I'm not sure I can answer all your questions as the nuances of thryoid care is out of my level of expertise but I can say that what a lab may label as "normal" isn't always what doctors will aim for when treating certain conditions. As with many things, thyroid tests, including thyroid antibodies, aren't always black/white, normal/abnormal, and have to be taken in context with all the other labs and with your symptoms. My questions for the doc would be what they think your goal numbers should be, based on your history and your symptoms, and what are other symptoms you should look out for as an indicator that your numbers may be out of whack.
      Hope this helps and good luck!

    Hello, so I’m 29 years old , I I a year ago I had throat infection went to ENT specialist for that, so he told me my thyroid look a little enlarged, otherwise I never found that out.and then on appointment with endocrinologist and blood test my everything is normal eg, tsh,t3,t4 normal. But my anti TPO IU/mL IS 77.9 [ Normal Here IN Test IS, 0--5.6 ],AND Anti - TG IU/ML is 70.8 [ normal ratio here is 0--4.1 ] my vit D is Lower too., what should I do next , I had appointments with my doctor and instead they gave me appointments with nurse practitioner, which is stupidity. And she said I should not have to do anything and just after a year do all test again, what should I do , any medication , any food changes or life modification
    ? I’m waiting for ur reply back please…. Thank you so much

I have not done an ANA, his mother has a few disorders. Thank you for sharing, not too many DRs post on teenager issues, good luck!
