bullying, intimidation, cruelty, meanness, mistreatment, and abuse of any kind has absolutely and positively NO place, business, or right to take place any where in our daily lives under any circumstances whatsoever. NOT in politics, NOT in our Government, Not in our workplaces, Churches, our homes, apartment complexes where we live and reside, NOT in our schools, Not in our homes and in our families, or relationships, either. and is just plain unjustified and inexcusable and must STOP, NOW and At ONCE!

The way I began to ball (weep) halfway through this video. I work in a super toxic environment. I’ve been targeted, bullied, and experienced many instances where people of influence have witnessed it and did nothing about it. I have been used as a scapegoat for underperforming individuals and shared some of the issues with others (including leaders). Nothing was/is being done. Anxiety, depression, trouble breathing, sickness and dread have become a part of my daily experience. My super joyful, inspirational self has slowly been fading and I constantly feel trapped. I would leave but I have financial responsibilities. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone!

I respect that she has gone through the effort to do the things it takes to speak out about this serious issue. It's pretty sad when people feel so discouraged due to being abused at work that they become medically depressed or worse. People are human beings! It's alarming that cruelty to other people is allowed and even sometimes encouraged. We need to change this.

Thank you for mentioning the psychological and physical impacts of bullying. I dealt with it for 3 years at Duke University and I spent the last year and a half thinking about dying; death was better than another day in that environment. Everyday I looked at Duke University Hospital in front of me, while on the road, and I could only think about how I could possibly get access to the roof and if the building was tall enough, to walk off and die.
Thank you for your work and your speech. Despite the importance of WPB, this country has not come close to doing anything to address it. Thank you, so much, for sharing your story. Until they take it seriously, all we have is reinforcement and support for others who've also been there.

In Canada there is within the criminal code a law against bullying, yet it is rarely reported or enforced. It is a very slow process to have people recognize their place in the bullying dynamic and change. The victim has to stop believing it is their lot in life and the bully has to stop believing this is the only behaviour to 'get ahead'.

I'm so sorry Joanne Simon-Walters had to go through such brutal injustice, but I am very inspired by her brilliant rising up, taking powerful action, and brave, passionate teaching. I''ll strive to be an ally rather than a bystander,
though I've learned from rugged experience how choosing to be an ally can mean suffering serious retaliation.
But if enough of us commit to being allies rather than bystanders, the retaliaters won't have a leg to stand on.

I worked in two different work places where there was 2 bullies in one work place and 1 in the other work place.
The other work place I had to deal with a 60 year old bully. I couldn't believe a person that age could be a bully!!
I too always thought is something wrong with me. But it wasn't. I did my work and was a team player. This 60 year old gossiped at work about me and I didn't know nothing. The 60 year old bully was friends with the higher upp. So nothing was done. This bully still works there but I don't, I left. There was nothing I could do to get this bully removed.
Morale was so so low with those bullies in the work place. I wanted to work remotely to avoid bullies at work and toxic work environments.

I think intention is important, unfortunately, people lie about their intentions and say they didn't mean it, when they did (which a bully is always going to do).
However, even if they didn't realise what they said, they should be encouraged to see all the different ways in which it could be perceived.
Criticism should always be constructive in order to lift people up, not put them down.
But, yes agree totally about civility and professionalism without going too over the top, otherwise, it can come off as insincere and inauthentic.

Bystander = Enabler. There is something very wrong in the mind/heart of someone that laughs at (reviles) others. It's twisted; it's immoral, unethical. It does damage to people's lives, to their hearts. One cannot say they are humane, and bully or stand by when others do it, and not lift their voice to stand against it. If you consider yourself to be humane, then you *must stand up against abuse/bullying.
No, not everyone bullies. To suggest that, is to suggest that it is somehow normal, and it isn't. It's a subset within neurological dysregulation. Forty-five years ago, bullying in the workplace was not seen but rarely, if ever. People were civilized, they were respectful, the workplace could be pleasant, and it was. Professional behavior was absolutely required, and respect was the order of the day. Bullying is extremely abnormal, and just because the culture has disintegrated so severely that it can be commonly seen now, does not make it "normal." It is a behavior that destroys, and destructive people destroy themselves. 11:52 Yes, bullying *is deviant. It is anti-social, anti-society, anti-Life because it is destructive. All those that take part in bullying, not only do damage to others, but they damage themselves.
