$704 without room EQ feature is now better, seriously? For that price I would expect to have a descent DSP functionality to be better than Sonos.

No, kidding hey! 7004 us for this piece of plastic amp with a 10$ amp inside JESUS! One nice thing about Sonos connect amp, you don't need a screw driver to connect the speakers..
What are the inexpensive options? not trying to be an ass, I just cant afford 700$

700 bucks...no way
For a $700 dollar unit, your description of it's sound quality was quite underwhelming, and yeah it looks nice and all but there are certainly better options out there costing a lot less.
