Rivers Crisis: Fubara Praised for Replacing Wike's Men in LGAs

After Governor Fubara's directive that heads of local government administrations should take charge of councils across the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State, confusion ensued in Port Harcourt. Protesting youths occupied local council secretariats, reportedly chased out chairmen, and incidents led to the killing of uniformed men, prompting the police to take over all secretariats. Today, we witness Governor Sim Fubara swear in the caretaker committee chairmen for the 23 local government councils.
The swearing-in ceremony followed their screening and confirmation by the Victor Jumbo led State House of Assembly on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Rivers State House of Assembly Auditorium, Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt.
