  • A continuation on the restoration of the 1996 Polaris Ultra 680 Triple.
    With the cases prepped in the previous segment. We install the crank seals, install the crankshaft and apply the sealant to the individual cases.

    Permatex gray powersports sealant is good for its final torque spec after 5 mins been absolutely loving the stuff for cases and patching cracked intake boots

    Nice work, my tips are to pre fill the bearings with the oil u are running, and don’t use so much sealant on the cases only need a light coat

      Good info.

      @@StreetersGarage yeah pre fill saved the initial startup life and on seals use oil not grease bc grease can potentially hold dirt n dust the oil will wash away fully with fuel, on base gaskets use a slight layer of loctite 518, to stop fiber gasket from weeping

    Did you replace the water pump seals on the crank? Also what oil did you use in the water pump. Ty

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  Před 11 měsíci

      The seals were fine. No issues so I left then.
      0W40 for the oil. It doesn’t take much.

    What are the two gears for on the crank? Not the one for the water pump.

      @@StreetersGarage Thanks. I'm getting ready to assemble one of these engines soon. First time. I normally work on single cylinder two strokes

      No problem. You’ll be fine, just take your time and pay attention to detail.

    What type of grease did you use?

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  Před 3 lety

      It was marine rated grease. The grease is only there for first startup until the premix gets into the engine.
      The oiling of the lower end during assembly is just as important

    How do u put oil in engine??

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  Před 2 lety

      It’s a 2 stroke.

    • @joegilmartin6276
      @joegilmartin6276 Před 2 lety

      @@StreetersGarage I know it is a 2 stroke but when I pull ed heads off oil was on crank case and how does oil get on crank?

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  Před 2 lety

      There’s oiling lines on the outside of case that feeds the bearings. There’s also oil injection in the intake portion of the case. One per carb.

      This is the 1st snowmobile.Its a Polaris Indy 1993 440. I found right side piston and cylinder scrod.I do not know if oil for fuel not working. Can u tell me how to check with engine torn apart?

    • @StreetersGarage
      @StreetersGarage  Před 2 lety

      Is it a fan cooled or liquid?
      Most burn downs are caused by an air leak. Either from bad carb boots, bad crank seals or bad exhaust gaskets. Dirty or misadjusted carbs as well.
      The oil injection typically never fails and if it does it fails in the wide open position.

    If I end up with an Ultra it's your fault.
