- Britches Full of Stitches (Polka)/Bill Sullivan's Polka
Video and recording by Hermann Overholdt
This is my amazing Traditional Irish Music class having a session in Sweden, December 2013. The session was held in our classroom on Visingsö where we studied and played Irish Traditional Music together. Many thanks to our teacher Jennikel Andersson who made this possible. - Hudba

Ya'll play well together. Thanks for sharing this. We have similar music here in Appalachia. Good foot stompin' fun.
American folk music is mainly descended from English, Scottish, and Irish folk ballads.
I play the bagpipes and I love Scottish/Irish music, bravo!

Wow - average age around 1/3 of the typical session! Good to see so many young people enjoying the tradition.

Might pause this one
I swear there are more fiddles in this ensemble than any other instrument.
All i want now is to dance to it

WHO ARE YOU GUYS?!! I must join. No really lets get in touch? :D
woaw !!!
Wow! That's how Irish music should be played. Until I read the text I thought the session actually was in Ireland. It reminds me I must pop across from Pembrokeshire to Co Wicklow and join in some sessions - it's been a couple of years.
You can easily see it's in Sweden: Artists in socks ...
@@mausmartin9596 hahahahahha
Nice.😊👍
heard this a time or two hundred at pembroke fiddle fest.
Clever words
Absolutely brilliant! Always makes me feel bad being Irish and hearing music like this and not being able to play any myself.
Well I was actually given a 5 string banjo for my birthday so hopefully I will be able to learn a tune or two on that.
I am just starting to learn the tin whistle at 64 so never too late. Really enjoying it. Never played anything before n was kicked out of the choir when I was 10

What does the lyrics exactly say besides Oh! The Britches Full Of Stitches ?
I can hear the answer says something different.

Is it just me? Or do you think the green t-shirt guy looks like Shaggy?
Yes he does!
I LOVE violin but sadly I feel like I have Frankenstein hands, this sounds awesome, I can play it on my whistle lol
Don't give up! I had the same kind of "Frankenstein" hands, you just have to keep playing and eventually they will loosen up. I have been playing the Fiddle for three years and I still have to fight being stiff, but I am starting to get there. I wish I could join this jam session. I already do one at an Irish Pub near where I live.

Why is no one wearing shoes?
They sold them to buy instruments. The Irish are poor but dedicated.
So they don't mark the floor when they're keeping time.
Note the shoes worn by the fiddler. I suspect the others are not wearing shoes as to not make noise to distract from the music.
We don´t wear shoes indoors in Sweden.
Tapping your toes in stocking feet doesn't really work does it? 😉 Great video.
Definitely more cheery than Miss Julie or Wild Strawberries,,,glad to have my stereotype of Swedish/Nordic miserabilism destroyed, Take your playing to Ireland,,,this is a just weregeld for the ninth century Nordic invasion, You might find you have ancestors/relatives there, Whatever,,,,your playing is a joy and a delight
forgot to ask - is the second tune Bill Sullivans Polka
Linda Leighton I don't no
🤔

Hang on a second, we'll fix this
I no how to play this on button accordion
Hey guys... What are you singing there??? "All the britches are full of Stiches, All the Britches are full of ????" Full of ?"holes"????? Full of "Ohhh"?
I would have not heard the singing
such a depressing song
I cant believe you wrote that, This is not a song, It is a polka,,,a dance tune,,,an instrumental piece,99 times out of a 100 it is played without words, Is the music depressing,,,surely not, The only question is,,,socks or shoes, I guess those in socks were the really really really loud foot tappers
