    In this video I attempt my biggest job yet. I set out on a journey with the Dodge Journey. If you have an annoying ticking sound that is coming from your engine, and you have the right amount of oil, then it is more than likely a rocker arm. In this video, I show you the long and tedious process of how to change out the rocker arms and lifters on a 2014 3.6 L engine, all-wheel-drive SXT Dodge Journey.
    Here is a list of parts I used:

    Any idea why the timing chain tool is so difficult to engage the tensioner on the left side or nearest the fire wall ?

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  Pƙed 3 měsĂci

      Well, it been sidemounted in some of the vehicles like the Dodge Journey makes it more difficult to get to. I myself had to modify the tool that fits in between the phaser sensors and cut it in half so that it could fit in and wedge in where it supposed to. Also you wanna make sure that you have released attention with the tool that they supply you with the timing chain. Sometimes you will need to move the links and lined them up to the wedge to just barely into accomplish this you can slightly move the crankshaft if you need to, but in the end, make sure that the arrows are lined up like they’re supposed to doing those two things should give you a little wiggle room to fit the wedge in better. Also it is sometimes hard to find an exact low profile socket to fit on the side mounted engines too, but I believe I left a link to where you can buy them and they’re not too expensive. so hopefully a few of those ideas will help you my friend. It is not impossible to do. It’s just a pain in the butt. Sometimes they manufacture the cars and sometimes you have to modify the tools or do simple little tricks to get the tools to fit for that particular car.

    • @Mr_Goody
      @Mr_Goody  Pƙed 3 měsĂci

      @MikeLJ-ku7ov it should loosen it also. It provides some slack in the chain when it releases it, and then it allows the wedge to fit in between the camp phasers easier, and then if you need to adjust the campers, you can slightly move the crankshaft to line up with the wedge.

      I would say in parts you’re looking at about $400 and the rest would just be your own labor if you do it yourself. But if you take it to Garage, it’s gonna be a lot more and it just varies and white Garage I’ve seen it cost from 1.5 K to well over $2000..

    Hello, so i replaced the rockers and lifters on rear bank and replaced right intake cam. While the valve cover was still off, I rotated the crank 360° to make sure everything rolled good, i proceeded until the horizontal line on phasers lined up and when i did I noticed the timing chain markings i made were no longer lined up. Is that supposed to happened?

      Are you talking about the right cylinder? Head closest to the back of the engine? The paint marks should line up. Remember on the front of the engine on the front head the arrows will point toward each other, and on the back they will point away from each other. I hope that makes sense to you, but to answer your question the paint marks should line up.

I had a little bit of problem and had to wiggle them on a little bit. I hope that answers your question. And I think for this particular vehicle I might have had to cut the back one, so it would clear the frame. Just check in the video.

      I agree with you 100%. I believe during the last three years that they made these vehicles they were pretty reliable. They changed and revised the parts as they went along and had a pretty good dependable car near the end but what they should’ve done is the go back and fix the cars that they knew was going to have problems instead of Letting the people pay for repairs and being guinea pigs. It’s very unfortunate.
