Let me post Paul Gregersens better explanation than what BYU Scholars are clearly not getting right!
Listen prayerfully to what he says, QUOTE. "Instead of over explaining cosmology, why can't we just simplify say this! Even though the universe of stars are vastly numbered in the night sky, they cannot possibly be the focus for Moses and Abraham's visions. The night sky was not the actual meaning for the vision given to Abraham. God declares that it is man himself that means everything in Gods universe to him. For he said, man is my glory, Gods love through mankind" not glorifying the planet Saturn or any other physical body, nor even our sun up in the sky. God emphasizes his child as Moses, you are my son! Job clearly says we are the "sons of God" the real stars of the universal Devine plan playing out." He's not authorizing familiar stars like we see in the night sky as lights of a priesthood hierarchy as some scholars at BYU try to poorly explain this chapter.
These bodies are simply gases and rocks that were created FOR mankind. In other words, these of themselves are simply necessary props for the real stage. We are the object of Gods love for mankind, not his love for the earth itself which is just a temporary prop! Heavenly bodies are not eternal because they eventually burn out in a few million years from now. People are the real eternal stars of our universe and they help make God's plan play out, the rest of creation are just stage props. Let's face it, Abraham is talking about a cosmos of living spirit stars (sons) all held together by God's priesthood light. The vision is about (mankind being everything to God) We are his true son's and daughters and not some gas planet like Jupiter symbolizing God's eternal life. Jesus didn't die on the cross for space rocks and star dust gasses. That's why the cosmology of the book of Abraham doesn't work with any space science comparison's, because it's not about physical stars at all.
Abraham was telling the Egyptians they were entirely wrong. Stars seen in the sky are not heavenly beings and never were! God said, Moses you are my child, you are my star (my son) reflecting my love and my light! Not Pluto or Saturn or the physical moon. Man himself is my son, my own spirit reflection. BYU is trying to combine the physical cosmos into the book of Abraham by blindly integrating physical planets into the same subject matter as the priesthood hierarchy, they try to run it all together as a metaphoric type to please the Egyptians when these sky bodies are totally disconnected and not priesthood metaphors at all.
That's why many do not understand why facsimile two is a spiritual clock keeping earthly time for the birthright stars in God's real plan for marking his seasonal covenant path to Christ. Abraham was NOT trying to agree with the Egyptian Idolatry by using a pagan cosmology to measure time, as BYU scholar above has just assumed. Instead, Abraham was teaching the exact opposite. That's why the Egyptians tried to kill Abraham on the altar. He told them they're cosmology was all wrong. This is not just my theory at all, this is what the Book of Abraham clearly says n Abraham 3:4! God tells Abraham to teach the Egyptians why this was all about Abrahams posterity (children of God) being as NUMEROUS as the stars, not that they were just like stars at all. Cosmology and Egyptian astronomy was not what Abraham taught the Egyptians. God clearly tells Abraham to teach the Egyptians about his posterity as the subject. Getting into any explanation of modern or ancient cosmology causes people to question Gods revelation as bad science when the subject is clearly about priesthood hierarchy. We must carefully pay attention to context before making such assumptions when people leave the church. See my Abraham video part 9.
Very well put by describing Kolob with these stars as spiritual beings only, instead of getting side tracked into explaining the science of cosmology. True, there is simply not enough time in one lesson to get into Joseph Smith's listing of the 7 stars and all of the Hebrew names in the books numbered sequences. Nor explain the 7 stars on the Salt lake temple! Abraham starts with Adam and Noah as he clocks out the 7 greater biblical stars of the priesthood as birthright sons all adding up to Joseph Smith in the 7th dispensation.
Those same 7 birthright stars reach from Adam and then to Noah eventually to J. Smith. Each star (prophet) is timed exactly with the exact time of each birthright son as listed in order using Abraham's birthright numbers in the book of Abraham. A priesthood path of living souls and not a lifeless path of gases and space rocks. See my newest CZcams titled "Book of Abraham part 13" then watch his part 9 video to properly work Abrahams exact math. Part 13 by me.

I love the Old Testament because it showed me how perfectly God’s love is for men. When I started to understand more about the Old Testament & feel Gods love for us made me & still makes me cry. Tears of Joy because His love for them despite how wicked they were it was perfect & His love for me is perfect too despite how imperfect I’m!

Brilliant! I loved this discussion and learned a lot. The OT is so key to understanding how God deals with his children, why He wants a covenant family. A couple of insights I had while studying Abraham, and you kind of danced around this, but could an understandable definition of “intelligence” be “obedience”? It is not only receiving light and truth, but acting on it. And God is indeed the most “obedient” of all (we shouldn’t think of this term as subservient, but as an act of intelligence). Another insight was that Kolob is a symbol of Christ - he is the closest to the Father, the most like Him, the reachable (with His assistance) goal. We are so blessed to have this restored scripture!!

When Dr Muhlestein talks about God taking intelligences and housing them in spirit bodies, I am reminded of D&C 93: 29-31 where we learn that Intelligences have, and always have had, agency. So, I wonder how many Intelligences chose NOT to be housed in a spirit body and how many are still out there waiting or preparing for our turn to be parents of spirit children.

Hank & John, I am looking forward to another great year of learning and insights of the Old Testament. We quote Abraham 3:26 to talk about the noble & great one chosen by God to be His rulers, I know that there were many others that were chosen for very important assignments! I would like to name a few, there was Squanto the native American that meet the pilgrims that came to Plymouth. There was Christopher Columbus, Thomas Paine who wrote "Common Sense" that urged the colonist to sever ties with England. There were the Founding Fathers, how about Michael Faraday the father of modern electronics! The list could go on of hundreds of others of men and women that were critical to the work of God.

I just wish one of you had mentioned the other meaning of the word "prove". In metallurgy, it means to refine or to strengthen. I like that meaning a lot better because Heavenly Father already knows what we will do. The only person we prove anything to is ourselves.

At 23:20. Book of Abraham. Modern Egyptologists claim there is no relation between the papyri and the Book of Abraham. If the speaker Dr. Muhlestein got a Ph.D. in Egyptology from UCLA, he would have to know this controversy. The church website under "gospel topics essays" even addresses it.

I'd get his book they talked about and see his view. What if it's like the other revelations in The Doctrine and Covenants.... how every revelation started with a question to the Lord. Maybe the papyrus was that question that brought forth the revelation of Abraham? Just a thought.

Who is speaking in Moses 1? Is it Elohim or Jehovah by divine investiture? In verse 6 He says ‘Moses, my son’. So it’s confusing it sounds like Elohim speaking but Ive been taught it’s Jehovah, the God of the Old Testament. Can you please clarify for me! Thank you.

There's a big problem with the way BYU guys who are not speaking for the church approach this. I don't think Abraham and Joseph Smith were teaching Egyptian Idalatry and trying to make it fit into the gospel like he says. For one thing Moses said there were many earths and many populated stars. Earth is not the center in any sense of the message. Abraham was talking about spirits or people being the real stars in God's family as he clearly explains in chapter 3. He shows these two prophets a vision of the true spiritual heavens in relation to how many living children of God are literally out there which are numberless, it's not a vision about lifeless planets and stars alone. Christ didn't die on the cross for the planet Jupiter or the gasses and rocks that make up the physical universe we see. They are not his main focus wothin these visionary creation scriptures. These heavenly bodies are the stage props only for the biggest stage show staring us. It is mankind, all of Gods children who are the only movie stars acting within the entire show, not the lifeless rocks and gasses that make up the props for the show. God clearly said Abraham is the star and so is Moses and even Joseph Smith, and then of course all of us! We are the entire reason all the lifeless star props out there even exist. We are the stars of God's entire plan is the real message of Abraham and Moses. Abraham was obviously trying to explain to the Egyptians how they got this thing wrong as he taught them very clearly almost the opposite understanding. The Egyptians taught the lifeless planets and gasses out there were the real gods, they taught the props were the literal stars of the show! No wonder BYU astronomy doesn't work with science, it's not about the astronomy of the stage props! Wrong! Wrong to compare mankind with rocks and gas props with people by these scholars at BYU! That's why the Egyptian priests obviously tried to kill Abraham guys. They didn't like this teaching by Abraham. Why else did they try to kill him! He was not trying to agree with them at all. He taught them that Kolob and the brightest stars out there were only symbols of Jahovah and greater prophets like Abraham! These stars in the night sky were not about their Egyptian dead kings whom they believed had died and then ascended up to heaven to become literal stars up there. BYU likewise ignores how facsimile two is plainly cross referenced with the numbered explanation on the opposite page seen clearly in the book. It shows an opposite explanation contrasting how the prophets and the preisthood are the priesthood lights of the covenant path which measure our time upon this earth in relation to Adam and the creation. Let me show you how Joseph Smith tried to explain this right in the book of Abraham which BYU either doesn't understand or ignores. Click CZcams "Book of Abraham part 13 "video by me.

The book of Abraham has never been proven, the bible has. GAL 1:9 "As we have said before so now I say again if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed". 2 Cor 11:13 "They are deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ, but I am not surprised, even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light!"
