I quit my job and became one of the most successful knife sharpeners in the Pacific Northwest. Never looked back.
If you focus on something, even something as tiny as the edge of a knife, it can sustain you, physically, emotionally, spiritually.
Your life sounds like a parable a wise man would bring up "let me tell you about the knife sharpener", lol. ^^

I did concrete work on the US southern border fence for years. Had to quit to come back to Tennessee and take care of my grandma til she passed away. Not long after that my gf dropped dead right in front of me then my dad passed away right after that with lung cancer. Then COVID hit. That's when I saw your vids and immediately I was hooked lol. I'm not built for arm wrestling but a yuuuuge fan of it. I fish bass tournaments here locally. Guess that's my 1st passion but arm wrestling sure is right there with it 💪🎃

As someone who's been struggling financially for quite a while now because of chasing passion and quitting the conventional path, I found this extremely insightful and encouraging. So inspiring man, I can relate. 2 Years ago, with 23 yo, i quit my job to create my own business. I was good at the beguinning but I felt so much financial pressure man, that I end up having a burnout. The business was doing okey but mentaly my financial expectations were beating me slowly until I had to stop and adress them. Thats what I am doing now. I wish to have listen to this stuff two years ago, it is about freedom not anything else. And creating a job out of a passion is not good, you end up on the same position but you lose one pasion. Fortunately i feel in life you can fuck up many times but rise again wiser. Thanks for your words

You think? You want something bad enough I feel like you would. I have a beastly mindset though and happen to be way above average, and that's not to brag. I mention it because maybe that's why I feel like someone who really really wants something would want a rematch in this situation, and they will believe in their ability to achieve it. You're probably right though, the average person maybe wouldn't want to go down that road again, but that's disappointing to me.

I met Devon a couple times in Toronto arm wrestling tournaments. I only talked to him briefly and he seems like a nice guy.

@@wildmanlopez9772 I wanted to serve in canadian military when i was younger but due to medical reasons I wasn't able to in the compacity i wanted to. Majority in canadiam military including vast majority of support roles like cooks are trained to fight on frontlines, i wasn't able to work in any combat related jobs. If i was american i think be more available/open to me with much more none combat jobs. I wanted a combat job, infantry and etc

@@wildmanlopez9772 i have servere bad eyesight, it worens every year. I never been a good candidate for laser eye corrective surgery. 2003 when i was 18 i tried to enlist. Nothing i could do. Laser Eye surgery only good if person has bellow -10 and stable eyesight, my eyes stabilized first time in my mid 30s for 3 years at -20, my eyes started gettimg worse again. Laser eye surgery wouldn't stoped my eyes getting worse and i would have gotten complications if i had laser eye surgery. I currently have vary thin eye tissue and i would have none if i had laser eye surgery, it removes eye tissues. As my eyes get worse i loose eye tissue. .
Fear of failure can be scary, but so is never pursuing what you're passionate in. Be that man in the arena once more, Dev!

I just decided to not sign a new lease and move my family into a rv for 3 months and then fly them to other side of the country while I keep working to get ahead. I’m so nervous right now cause it has to work. But I shine not burn is the family motto along with victory or death. So move forward we will go. Thanks for sharing your story!!

Well not a big enough truck currently. Renting one to move the trailer but the place we are going to has a 1st gen Cummins I am buying from an old fella (coworker) but it needs a bit of work first. Long term it fits all my requirements. Gives an old fella some company and home cooked meals.
I can’t wait to stomp in the highlands of Cape Breton again. So my boys learn what it is to be a highlander and free.
I quit my job a few weeks ago and have been going like crazy around the property clearing land, building fences around gardens, an addition on our chicken coop and now working on a barn for some critters. I've already lined up several clients to house their stuff and plan on having some market sales shortly too😎

Ran with Way of the Giant Pumpkin with my whole national team (I coach) last year and we won our World Championships, the players all big fans of "Pumpkin training" 😂😂 ... you've been a big inspiration by going so hard into specialization and it made a lot of my anecdotal findings over a career make sense. I started just as he did (on a farm, in the military overseas) and my experience was that you have to buy your freedom in life with money (saving and investing).

I'm 23 from Germany & chased my passion of playing basketball professionally all my life but suffered from injuries and kinda had to decide whether I keep on chasing my passion or focus more on an academic career (moved to Netherlands in area with not too many basketball options) now it's been 2 years in the Netherlands and it's really tearing me apart. I can 100% relate to what you're saying here Devon and I have to thank you since your words have reinforced the thought in my head that I'm gonna go all in chasing my passion again with everything I have after I'm done with my studies. I just decided to do exactly that. I am 41, did Never anything for my career and Till i am 16, i say i will Write a Book once. Never did it, Never Even wrote a Lot. One week ago i told my Boss i‘ll quit soon, started to get up a 6 o‘clock an write befor and After my work.
