    I enjoy hearing your thoughts on historical figures! Marie Antoinette is good as a secondary character in movies like Farewell My Queen(the German actress Diane Kruger plays her).I think most people (myself included) just love the dazzling 18th century fashion :)

    • @Merveillesenpapier
      @Merveillesenpapier  Před rokem +1

      Yes but Diane Kruger's face has nothing in common with Marie-Antoinette ... That's a very good example of what I was saying , ;)Thank you for stopping by!

      Diane Kruger definitely doesn’t look like Marie Antoinette. I just enjoy Marie Antoinette’s character in movies when she’s not the main character. Love your channel! :)

    Your balcony always looks beautiful every year. Clochette was very helpful with your folding! Your version of Marie Antoinette is lovely. Your faces are more refined these dauys and her head is able to move! How clever! I have a very tiny mouth myself so I can relate. Yes, the concept of beauty changes over time. As always. a very nice visit!

      Thank you Helen, Clochette is always my assistant in everything I do !So you belong to teh 18th century ;) it's interesting though to see the beauty for men is very stable throughout the centuries .Thank you for stopping by !

    Sitting at the Gate to return to Seattle. We had 3 weeks perfect weather. I planted many geraniums for my mother in South germany in window boxes. Such a nice tradition. Yours look very pretty. We visited the Elsass Lorraine region for a few days. As you know there are so many pretty very old villages with colorful houses. The food was also out if this world. Lots of Munster cheese dishes. 😀

    Dear Laetitia, your sweet balcony and seating is so lovely ❣️❣️Ever thus have the movies portrayed ladies and men with actors and actresses not matching the real people! Just thinking especially of Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra and many others! Oh well❣️Marie as you portray her is wonderful and looking forward to her beautiful wardrobe. Our weather has brought lots of watering the flower beds and veggie patch. We actually have been sleeping with our bedroom door that opens to the outside, open! And laying there yesterday morning, early, listening to the wind chime, the soft breeze in the trees, and birdsong, it was transporting me to a beach in Hawaii 🌺did not want to get up❣️❣️❣️have a joyous week🦉❣️🐿️🐿️🪿🦊🦉🧝‍♀️💐🧚‍♀️🦔🪷🍄🦄🦄🌸🐝🐸🐑🪺🐏🐥

    Hello Laetitia and Clochette. (Sorry, if mispelled). Your summer blog is lovely. What a treat for our senses to experience a summer rain falling on balcony flowers.
    Yes, we artists know red is the first color the retna of the eye sees; so red for your balcony is perfect. That coral, along with the pinks look beautiful together. I did those colors this year as well for my garden. Hope you find your table to set out soon. How nice to sit outside for the both of you.
    Clochette certainly enjoys all you provide for kitty comfort and your company, too.
    How interesting in history that small mouths were thought to be beautiful. I know the Asians too painted the illusion of smaller lips to portray beauty.
    Is that strawberry with ribbon around the neck of the unicorn your paper creation? It's lovely either way. Your workshop sounds so interesting, esp the Geisha. I think your workshop awesome. I, too, admire the historical costume. Thank you again for such an enjoyable blog!!!

      Thank you Roksanna! Yes red and pink flowers in a garden are very beautiful too. Yes I think Clochette will like our outddoor arangment. Oh Yes it's true It was common to asian esthetique too. The strawberry and ribbon were made for my first bed canopy many years ago Thank you have a lovely end of week :)

    Hello Laetitia, I also love 💗 planting flowers and getting ready for summer! Your red geraniums are beautiful 😍 I have assorted reds and pinks at my house this year. I love planting them n old crocs, grapevine baskets and terra cotta pots. I love watching you interact with kitty 🐱 is her name Clochette? She is so happy on her chair in the window watching for birds and chipmunks 😊 I picked up a copy of In Her Studio and am enjoying reading and looking through and being inspired by you and all of the creative and smart women in this issue. Hope the weather is beautiful where you are! 🌺🤟🏼

  • @rozanidesignsmasquerade7050

    Charming. Such a soothing setting with the relaxing Summer rain, the bright flowers and Clochette. 💓
    It is very interesting to learn about the beauty associated with small and dainty mouths of the women. Also, it is most intriguing to discover about Marie Antoinette not being pretty. And then, perhaps…..Why not enjoy setting the time period even a step further with a guillotine? Yes! I love the idea of her removable head just because it might be fun for some to reenact and recreate the execution. Who else would offer that bonus? 😃 Though, undoubtably, she is beautifully sculpted as you always do with your magical touches of paper and texture. She will be immortalized in sculpture. I wish you a most successful workshop. 💖

    Oh I can't wait to start my Marie Antoinette! Though I am very worried about my ability to do her face. I have that little bust that you have so I can try to copy that. I do admire her, and I have that portrait of her riding astride on my bedroom wall! I understand she wasn't pretty, but that always happens in films, you must have seen films about Queen Victoria, and she definitely wasn't pretty either.
    Pirates! I spent a lot of my youth pretending to be Nancy Blackett from "Swallows and Amazons" and sighing over Errol Flynn in Captain Blood. Are there French pirate stories? I'd love to find some. Lots of love as always, Hxxx

    • @Merveillesenpapier
      @Merveillesenpapier  Před rokem

      Thank you Helen, if you have this bust it will be helpful. yes it's something we see that for most historical characters like Johnny Depp in Louis XV recently .T hat's the problemwith cinema and series. I don't know this novel at all, I will have to check it , thank you for the suggestion ! British writers are better for pirates novels I think than us, though we have a few ones like Louis Garneray (1783-1857) who wrote a lot of adventures corsairs novels inspired by his own life as a corsair and prisonner of the British and was a sea ship, painter too , but I only read one of him a long time ago.

    Lovely video, as always! Interesting thoughts about different beauty standards too and in that way I am more drawn to the 18th century because I personally think those surgically fixed lips of today looks absolutely horrendous (why do people do that?)😢. And, unlike what you said here, I think Marie Antoinette actually was quite pretty in her own way, but you are right about the actresses that plays her. I understand it anoys you, because I feel the same when the costumes in a period drama are way too inaccurate.
    Oh, and your book collection is so inspiring. There really is something special with the beauty of antique books ❤

    • @Merveillesenpapier
      @Merveillesenpapier  Před rokem +1

      Thank you !yes these recent and fake standarts of beauty due to suggery would have been thought awful back then, I think the painters improved her. Something not easy to see in the paintings but described by le Comte de Tilly for example are her protruding eyes .Thank you , yes once you have started reading antique and older books it's hard to come back to new ones :) Thank you for stopping by !
