    This is amazing! Again, love the quality of your video's! I've looked at these devices before and thinking about buying 4 for my curtains in my livingroom. When using the HACS integration, how do the curtains get calibrated? From your phone? and how good does it work from HA. Just got rid of all my extra hubs so would love to be able to use it without their hub.

    • @EverythingSmartHome
      @EverythingSmartHome  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you as always! 🙏 You cannot calibrate using HACS yet so you just use the SwitchBot app - but you don't need the Hub to do it so your all good there 👍

    Great video. I’m interested to know if your curtains create more friction in the grommets as the close? I’m unable to close my curtains fully, as the tension on the grommets as they create a more oblique angle on the pole means they’re quite tough to fully close. Probably need a new non-metal pole, but was interested to see if you noticed a similar problem?

    Really very nice providing the python API and keeping it independent of cloud nonsense. I'll definitely keep an eye on their other products because of that. Only concern I have though is how plasticy it appears to be. After a couple of years in the sun would they become brittle? (Maybe not an issue in Scotland! 😀)

    • @EverythingSmartHome
      @EverythingSmartHome  Před 3 lety +1

      Definitely is, refreshing! And yeah probably not an issue here 😅 but something to think about!

    Great vid! I didn't realise that you'd have to buy another freaking device just to say open my damn curtains. I feel like returning it now, but I've returned too many devices to amazon that they might have just won FFS. I will buy the hub... then maybe return it later lol

    • @EverythingSmartHome
      @EverythingSmartHome  Před 3 lety +2

      Thank you! Yeah it's unfortunate although I understand why because it's using Bluetooth to maximize the battery life. At least the hub isn't too expensive! Although if you are using Home Assistant then you can make it work in Google or Alexa without the hub

    One thing I haven't found in these reviews is how is the manual override? You don't always want to use it ( want it done quicker for example ). Does it slide easily? Do you have to recalibrate after?

  • @spikeyboy
    @spikeyboy Před 2 lety +1

    So I finally received my switchbot but am having a bunch of issues making it work. It seems my curtains are too heavy I think? Because it comes to a point where the switchbot can no longer pull the rods as the curtains are stuck. I tried using the included kit for grommet curtains but it still didnt help. I thought ordering a tape made specifically for curtains would help but it still wasnt enough. The tape was to help make the curtain rings more slick to slide easier but it still doesnt work. You have any idea what else I can do? I'm totally out of option and would love to make this work.

    • @grahamwilkinson6902

      I’m experiencing the same problems. I’ve also ordered some grommet tape. I’m going to try to 3D print some plastic rings to go inside the grommets to make them more slick ( metal grommets on metal rods at the moment )
