  • Most modern cars and trucks come with a ton of features and amenities that most drivers hardly need, but there's one feature that has always come in handy-the rear-view backup camera. Most cars and trucks five years to a decade old didn't feature backup cameras as standard equipment like they do today, so if you want one, you have to go aftermarket. In this video, I will show you how I install my aftermarket rear-view backup camera on my 2008 Toyota Tundra to my aftermarket stereo.

    Wanted to thank you again for this video. I bought the backup camera, and was having the head unit installed a week later so I ran everything to where the stereo will be and when I had the guy install the stereo he looked at me confused when I asked him to finish the hook up of the camera. He asked how I hooked it up and I told him and for some reason he was confused lol. But the camera works awesome

    Perfect. I just bought a 2007 tundra 2 days ago and wanted to install a backup camera with the list of other mods. This is going to be the first vehicle I have owned with a backup camera.

    Thanks for making this video. I researched my butt off to find the best option for a backup camera for my '08 tundra. I ended up getting this exact tailgate camera from amazon, and an aftermarket receiver from crutchfield. I ran the wires exactly as you did, which turned out to be the easiest way to do it, and looks very neat. I was very pleased at the quality of both the tailgate handle and the picture from the camera. It was package nicely, already has the split wire loom installed, and was very simply to install. The only issue I had was wiring the positive and negative wires. I wired the positive side to the positive wire on the radio harness, but for some reason when I wired the negative wire to the ground wire of the radio harness, the camera would not work. I had to ground the camera to the truck frame. It wasn't a big deal, it just took a while to figure out the issue. I definitely recommend this tailgate camera to anyone with a 2007-2013 toyota tundra.

      Wow!!! Thank you for coming back and leaving a feedback and comment!!! I’m glad it worked out for you!! I would have grounded it to the frame too but it worked out for me grounding it to a ground wire.. I was lazy looking for a hole or drill a hole for the ground wire.. lol

    Hey man, thanks for the video. My back up camera comes with three open lines purple, red and black on both end and a RCA in one end. I connected the black and red to the reverse taillight on one end, on the other end i connect the purple line to the reverse cable of the head unit. When i put gear in reverse, the back up camera does not come up automatically, i have to go to the camera option on the screen to see it. What did i do wrong?

    Hey buddy, which wire did you joined/tapped the red and black wire to in the stereo?

    • @Tony2Ton
      @Tony2Ton  Před 4 lety +1

      Red wire is for positive battery voltage.. just look for a positive wire in your stereo for red wire. And black wire is your ground.. your negative wire.. you can ground it to the frame of the vehicle if you want or to a ground wire of your stereo
