i honestly like the KWANGYA idea.. it makes it seem that everyone is family at SM. like in the songs it connects. i like it.

actually KWANGYA was introduced way before, but no one knew about it at that time.. the first group who introduced it was S.E.S. in 1998 in the song Dreams come true, when they rap that part in weird language (naw ae love epp few love mee wern ae taki wakka mekezon). that was confirmed to be KWANGYA language, so basically they were the first group that introduced KWANGYA universe to us...
Maybe S.E.S are just humans who saw KWANGYA through a dream, if they aren’t part of it.

I think DBSQ/TVXQ are also with S.E.S in introducing us to KWANGYA without actually naming it " KWANGYA " in the music video Mirotic ,where the members were obviously trying to escape or maybe defeat some power or a villain that was presented to us in a form of a women who looks like she might be the BLACK MAMABA .. lee soo man have always had this obsession or passion in creating a universe , a villain , good people and bad people and just making his own storyline making his groups as the main characters of this universe , i might take F(x) concept in consideration too especially the music videos of NU ABO and Electric shock too , I don't have any theories about these too but so far out of super junior snsd and shinee F(x) are more likely to have hinted somehow this whole concept of alternative universe , villain etc..
honestly lee soo man is such a creative man, the way he came up with this amazing storyline is just chefs kiss. kwangya is really unique and makes me feel like sm artists like one huge family in a diverse universe if that makes sense :)

KWANGYA dates back in 1998 with S.E.S, just take a look carefully at the Dreams come true mv and lyrics at the like rap part at the end, it is in the kwangya language

Yoo Youngjin himself said it while they were on Dreams Come True remastering project that it was Alien rap and non-sensical words. It all related with Kwangya. Some older SM group stans are so naive, they thought Kwangya is Aespaverse, and they don't want their fave to partake in it. I truly wonder if SM is gonna tie Girls Generation’s comeback in August to Kwangya, pulling Girls Generation into the whole universe, adding more roles into the universe of Kwangya
technically all the artists are in the universe though. Just like how all of us humans are in a universe with all these different planets. some of them could’ve just been regular civilians walking down the street, though I do believe that eventually in the future many of them will have important roles like you said.

I actually believe that Aespa fought Hyoyeon in Savage not the Black Mamba. If you look at the Savage dance break and Deep they have the same red and green lighting. Hyoyeon also talks about an eye which we see in Savage WHICH IS THE SAME AS HER EYES IN THE MV. Also Karina’s outfit has spider webs on her soooo Hyoyeon could be the new villain.
In the INVU mv Taeyeon has the whole mystical thing going on, with the logo looking like a compass, and a bow and arrow, so maybe Taeyeon is trying to save Kwangya, as a sort of purifier, with the logo trying to find evil, or trying to trick the villains in that she is corrupted, with the words: "I envy you" shortened as INVU.
the intro of the groups in 2021 free online concert for the new year gives you a clue as to what is the superpowers and roles of the groups

Kwangya/SMCU is just their answer to developing a metaverse, just no one understands that yet. I think it’s clever to find ways to keep all SM groups and artists from past to present relevant this way.

I personally like the idea of this Kwangya concept, not only does it connect artists' songs, but it connects them with each other irl too. Like they get to collab with anyone, get closer and etc. Lee Sooman has amazing ideas for them tbh, and we all know SM is the best with actual good experiments. This concept honestly makes SM artists more seen/active (I'm not saying they weren't before) like whenever there's SMU projects, all artists are/can be there and it high-key makes me happy to see them gather around like that.
Bonus: I also like how nowadays, Lee Sooman makes appearances with the artists (like æspa, NCT, Hyoyeon, SuperM and etc.)

Taemin is so involved in his comebacks and concepts and puts a lot of personal stuff in there I doubt there was a connection planned to kwangya or any bigger storyline. It might tie into everything if they use stuff Taemin used before in his concepts but that's about it. It's fun to make theories but to reduce his work to kwangya, especially criminal, idea and advice which have either very personal or very complex concepts (which he talked about in detail) just isn't it imo. that maybe applies to other artists in sm too but i'm more familiar with Taemin's work.
That's what gonna happen they may used what he has used before in his concept so it won't hinder his creativity input plus they can have connection .they are going to connect each of their artist in similar way
Maybe we can see it as interpreting his work in kwangyaverse instead of reducing it to it..
I hated the whole KWANGYA concept and thought it was a stupid, unwoven gimmick but after seeing this video, I think I’ve been completely turned around. I never noticed those tiny little details before. And I am so, so unbelievably here for King Taemin being the mastermind behind it all.

wow! I hadn't thought about the powerful role that TAEMIN plays within the SMCU. Although Taemin himself has said that all his artistic and conceptual work as a solo artist in his MVs are his, so I think it's not kwangya, but I understand that there are many symbolisms in his incredible MVs that serve to connect the dots and elaborate theories such as these... All this is very interesting and makes a lot of sense too. Anyway, "Ace of Ace", Taemin :') We'll see what else SM will bring us..
Although you did explain a lot, I feel like there is so much more information SM is hiding from us and that might change people's point of view of who the villain is, like now most of us think Irene and Taemin are the villains. And about the fact that Karina might be helping Black Mamba, I feel like they have a connection, kind of like a mother-daughter relationship. In the music video, Black Mamba is seen practically showing off Karina like how parents often show off their kids (mostly when their kids get the highest grade in their class, for example). I don't know, it's just a small theory of mine, but Lee Soo Man really did a great job coming up with this concept, it's really interesting, specially how it's not only one group but artists from several groups that are included.

Not only does SM make some of the best music in K-pop, their concepts go *deep*. I think I have to watch this video more than once. I have no problem with the concept being convoluted at all. I love all the aspects of origin and back stories. It’s exciting in a way.

I love this breakdown, i genuinely think they're going for a more or less Olympian theme with SNSD too. Just thinking about all of them coming together gives me goosebumps.
RV as villains are literally the only thing left I needed to make them my ultimate group.

I've liked this concept since it started cuz i'm also a Marvel fan.
But i can understand why others don't like Kwangya cuz it's really not for everyone. But with this, it can pull new fans because of its concept and storyline. A storyline makes it engaging cuz people are gonna anticipate what's next and it also makes it exciting and interesting. Much like EXO and Red Velvet.
Obsession was my first EXO cb, and I remember being blown away by all the theories. Then Aespa came with their concept and I loved it. And now this, that all of them are connected is pure genius. I am loving every bit of it.

So in RV subunit Monster, it is alluded that there is one person who has two personalities. In the MV for Episode 2 Irene, Irene dances against another version of herself starting in a nice place and seemingly ended up in a dark corridor. Maybe part of a maze? Then at the end they teleport out of the maze and one of the copies of Irene turns into Seulgi. Is this the 'monster' breaking free? In Naughty they seem to meet once again, almost unaware of each other until they bump into one another and they seem to try to 'synch' up. But they can not and end up going their separate ways once again in what looks like Kwangya.
As per Queendom all the RV members are witches. Heck in the # cookie jar MV they are cooking around a cauldron! They seem to have the abilities of teleportation, levitation and moving objects, changing their size (Queendom: garden party; Feel My Rhythm: tiny compared to birds). Yeri seems to be able to manipulate plants in Queendom. Irene and Seulgi (and possibly Joy) can shape shift as seen in Queens Mystic Store and Feel My Rhythm. This seems to have Irene as the White cat and Seulgi as maybe a dark or shadow cat. In the Mystic store closing video Seulgi is the only member casting a shadow. Once again a creature of the darkness/shadow.
The one member that might have the greatest power is Wendy. In Queendom she can actually cause a storm to abate into clear skies and in the Feel my Rhythm performance video she also brings about the faerie balls into existence. So she seems to be able to manipulate the atmosphere with her magic. Of course we may yet get to more powers from the other members in the future.

I actually like the idea of a music company creating a universe. Kpop is awesome as a whole but I do feel at times “needs something more” LOONA had a good thing going with their lore and lost it. If they can really tie this together they could make BANK. Unlocks a whole new type of fan too. Just imagine seeing a hour and a half long video explaining KWANGYA and it featured music and performances from said group. Would be iconic.
SNSD members were all Goddess. Taeyeon is Artemis and Hyoyeon is Arachne. It felt like Boa is above goddess thats how powerful she is

Why is no one pointing out that in Lil Touch MV, you can see the maze, map and snakes everywhere indicating that SNSD members are one of the first people to enter Kwangya via POS. My theory is that they are called by Naevis to help save Kwangya where 5 members of SNSD meet green snakes aka Aespa. Yoona,leader of SNSD Oh!GG, was seen holding a map of possible Kwangya where they were trapped as the cages and spider webs were shown in the MV. It is also possible that they seemed to fight with Black Mamba because they were using guns. Before they were defeated by Black mamba, they met Aespa and give them the responsibility of defeating it.

NCT has a somewhat complicated theory but if you want I can help you say what powers they have in SuperM. But first I have to explain to you what theory they have. The NCT boys are locked in a dream, in the world of "unconscious", washed by the sea of ether that creates the wave of "Kwangya". As far as we can tell they are all in Kwangya locked up and most of them want to go back to earth. Each boy has a note and with this a skill. Taeyong is the first to achieve the 7th Sense, which consists of being able to see everyone within the dream. Mark has the ability to be conscious in the dream, so he can handle it at will. Ten has the ability to handle it but changing everything with his powers without having to do anything physical. And Lucas has the ability to sympathize with all people, being easier to understand everyone.
