      I don't mind online games but i suck at pvp, i play games to have fun and unwind after a stressful day working, i recently re downloaded smite, because to be fair, its actually a fun game, especially with friends, but i had 1 game where i tried a god for the first time and didn't have a clue how to play him. After the terrible game i had trying something new i got a lovely message and i quote;
      "Delete smite plz, you have no idea what your doing. Sad day you remembered to download smite".
      Its pathetic that people actually act like this, since then it sucked all the fun from the game for me and i can't be bothered with it now

    • @DissectingThoughts

      That's not an unpopular opinion, though. Almost everyone seems to think that.
      It is wrong, however. Or at the very least maybe not wrong, but a bit off. If you just tack on multiplayer to any old single player game without giving it any thought, then yeah, that's gonna' be bad. And if you like these games with an epic story more than competing against other people, well that's preference. But single player games aren't *inherently* better than multiplayer games, provided both are well designed.

      Persona 5 had... way too many cutscenes. And I'm not talking about just the story cutscenes, which that would be nice, I'm talking about the hand-holdy 'Hey are we gonna send the card?' or 'How much time have we got left?' or even 'Let's go to Mementos!' every goddamn day. The game is great aside from how often it reminds you of things that it's really hard to forget about in the first place, or that you're boosting social links specifically with the intention of preparing for what they're nagging you about.

    I totally agree with the "easy mode is ok" bit. I love games, I spend way more time on them than I should even on easy mode, but man, I just have to draw the line somewhere when it comes to allowing time for real, actual, life responsibilities. I'm playing Persona 5 now on easy, and I love it, but it's still a stupidly long game. I can't imagine getting bogged down in combat any more than I already do... I'd NEVER finish it.

      As someone who legit hurt my wrist playing and can't play a fighting game on normal for more than 15 minutes without feeling pain, I made peace with myself a long time ago that I won't playing most action games on hard anymore.
      And as any old school gamer would know, back in the day most games were HARD so they would either eat up your quarters at the local arcades or make you buy the game instead of renting it. As long the experience is the same and you get the same endings, then the difficulty is merely bragging rights -- but then again, in certain games there isn't bigger bragging rights than actually beating the game

    I agree that DmC is a brilliant game. The environment design alone is so damn stellar. I understand it went in a very odd direction for a lot of fans, but I just think of it as a multi-verse. I very much loved the enemy designs and especially the level design. I also like how the story focused more on the relationships between the main characters.

      Same. Very much. I always thought it would be cool if there was a game where DMC Dante teams up with DmC Dante and they need to work together to beat both Virgils or just some big bad controlling the multiverse or both dimensions. Crazy I know, and difficult, but I think it'd be amazing and add to both worlds.

    I actually agree with most of these points, myself. The only one I really can't give an opinion on is DmC because... I haven't played it.
    I used to be a person who saw 'easy mode' as a cop-out and was all about hard modes being the 'right' way to play. That me was an idiot.
    I still prefer harder difficulties as I like the feeling of overcoming that challenge. To me, that's a rewarding way to play... however, I understand that sometimes people just want to get lost in a game without fear of getting ripped to shreds by the difficulty if they so much as think of venturing off the beaten path. Now, I see it as just a different way to play and enjoy a game. The only 'right' way to play is the way that provides the best experience for the one actually doing the playing.

    Unpopular Opinion: Splitscreen and local coop/pvp is great and should be available in most multiplayer games! Don't get me wrong, I love great online games. I played WoW for years and made a ton of friends whom I still talk to in real life, attend weddings, etc even though we stopped playing years ago. However, I have even more fun when my friends and family can toss jokes, throw insults, jokingly push one another around, and even rage quitting on the couch next to me. It is a phenomenal experience. My son s and I play Left For Dead 2 and always tease one another for screen cheating. We play Diablo 3 and LBP3 together all the time. My oldest son and I spent countless hours unlocking every character and leveling them in Castle Crashers on PS3. Those moments have translated into so many inside jokes and other experiences in our lives that would not be there otherwise.

    • @b1oh1
      @b1oh1 Před 5 lety +4

      @@tiktaco4391 first, I don't appreciate people being unnecessarily rude. It's neither civil nor polite. Second, while I cited PC games, the same goes for consoles. Ps1 and ps2 had local co-op/splitscreen in almost every single multiplayer game. The PS3 had less but still quite a decent amount of titles that were splitscreen. Even the OG Xbox and the 360 had more. Almost every fps game used to have local multiplayer/splitscreen, and now they don't. Halo 5 comes to mind. There's also Forza and COD. Vgchartz actually compiled data on this, showing a downward trend. There are articles all over the internet from techradar and IGN, among others, where developers are on record as stating that there isn't a huge focus on couch co-op anymore. And for old-school gamers like myself (I own almost every console including Pong, Magnavox Odyssey 1 and 2), it used to be included in lots of PC games and it's all but disappeared and consoles are trending that way. The only company that seems to make it a focus is Nintendo.
      Anyway, take a PS4 multiplayer title without splitscreen and Google the "game title splitscreen" and you're bound to come across a forum filled with posts about how splitscreen sucks or how bad it would be for that game etc.

      Yeah not every game is for everyone but if a game has a set difficulty it can be tailored towards how people would like to play (Although I do like a good challenge so that I can keep myself invested making what achieve feel much greater unless it's a lazy day and I just wanna chill and do nothing or goof around). Heck even in Dark Souls it may be hard as hell but you can tailor your skills to compliment your playestyle to where you can be beefy af with health allowing you to trade hits and survive longer, or have a lot of endurance to dodge more and have more chances to attack, using magic with melee combat to account for range and cqc heck for any situation but if you don't like magic using a bow is maybe more of your style; hell there are GREAT BOWS that are big as hell and can be used to shoot giant arrows if you're a strength kind of person. There's usually a difficulty and/or playestyle that can be tailored for everyone to have fun with and/or make a challenge with to compliment their playthrough.

      @@kait2972 Because "invert freaks" ( as you call them ) are mostly the gamers who grew up playing flight and space sims ( which have been around much longer than first-person action games ) and never used an inverted x-axis for anything. For someone that played Falcon 3.0 ( 1991 ), X-Wing ( 1993 ), TIE Fighter ( 1994 ), Descent ( 1995 ), and more, adopting an inverted y-axis / regular x-axis control scheme for mouselook games is a natural extension of what they're already used to.
      Inverting both x- and y-axes ( which seems more popular in Japan, though I don't know why ) makes the camera behave as if you're a boom or jib operator.
      Axis inversion preference isn't a benefit or detriment to actual gameplay performance ( unless the devs don't give you the option of changing it ). Yes, you can force yourself to re-learn, and I know some people did when Halo 1 was released because it forced all users in couch co-op to use the same control scheme. But that takes a few days at least, and a lot of people don't want to spend that time retraining years of muscle memory.
      I could just as easily rail about "button jumper freaks" who still demand to use X/A to jump instead of shoulder buttons and triggers. Except that argument has actual merit because it's demonstrably better to be able to jump and still use both thumbsticks at the same time.

    Metal Gear is a valid example.

    Cutscenes just need to be skippable, pure and simple, so those of us, like myself, who dont have a problem watching them to learn more story can do so, while at the same time not having to watch the same one for the umpteenth time if we fail to beat the boss.

I'm fine with hiding the beautiful cutscenes and story and challenging optional areas behind a grind wall. I find grinding a relaxing task, and enjoy trying out different strategies/builds. I don't like playing MMOs, so now that single player RPGs are phasing this kind of gameplay out, I don't have any way to experience the meditative satisfaction of getting a character to level 100 except to replay classic games.

      I wrote a comment on the matter of the difficulty. Hope you dont mind if I just copy it in here.
      I personally dont like easy mode(I dont disrespect people who do) but I really like normal mode. Its such a wonderful balance of getting a satisfying feel of resistance from the enemys but there is no need to optimize to win. You can screw around and just have fun with it. I am at the beginning of Persona Q Shadow of the Labyrinth on normal mode. And I playing with the thought of turning Ken into a front line tank. Which is objectively a bad Idea since the game says that he has low HP and is best used in the back row but I just found it fun using an adorable little kid as a living shield. And the sub persona mechanic leaves room fore customisation and fore the time being I solved the low HP problem with an accessory. Its probably the definition of suboptimal but normal mode is probably letting me get away with it. So year Ken have fun with pain eater and save guard. I am the typ who likes to replay a game often which probably comes from not having the money to buy a ton of games but I dont think this habit will change in the future. Normally I start on normal and then claw my way up to the highest difficulty and once I got used to the highest difficulty I never go back. There are exceptions. When I played Bayonetta I made a playthrough with just here Iconic Red pistoles. Before I was mostly sticking to the Katana fore the hands and the claws ore the Rocked lunchers fore the feet. But since I was not all that good with the pistols in the past I went down from Infinite Climax to hard. There I discovered that the pistols are awesome and that the game is way more fun with witch time. Infinite Climax strips you of that abillty which is understandable. Its pretty overpowert but its so much fun. Since than I am sticking to Hard when I play Bayonetta. Its not that I had trouble with Infinite Climax. I was getting platinum ratings on average and gold on harder chapters ore if I screw up a bit but Hard is just more fun. Then there Persona 5. There I found comfort on the Hard difficulty. But I looked up what merciless brings to the table and that did not looked like fun. I am not that confidant in myself when it comes to turn based games.

I'd like to see a balance between the story and certain mechanics of new DMC and the tropes of classic DMC and certain mechanics of it as well. I love the angels and demons angle, and using different weapons depending upon which shoulder button i hold down of New DMC, and i love getting weapons from bosses in DMC Classic. I'd love to see the inventory of DMC Classic be used with that mechanic, so i could quickly switch between all my badass weapons ive picked off of the body parts of various angels and demons, stringing them into flashy combos. I know there are some that will say that you can do that in Classic, but in DMC, you can just do MORE.

    Personal unpopular opinion: If done right, Quick time events can be awesome. it allows for some action that would not be possible with the normal gameplay and it makes some action scene more awesome to have some interaction with it instead of it just being a simple cutscene (nothing against cutscenes though). Sue, some QTE's are bs, like in bayonetta they are way too fast to react properly, but take the god of war series as example. Or tell me that you didn't enjoy some of the QTE's in resi4 at least a little. why else would this game be so redicolous beloved?
    I thinkt he hate on QTE's is totally unjustified.
    Entry 1: Pretty sure the ps4 versions of final fantasy 7 and 9 have this as an option. And yes, it is a great addition.
    Entry 5: I could not agree more. Not every game needs to be open world and 100 hours long. One great example: Spiderman Shattered dimension. There is no new york hubworld to swing around, and honestly I think thats even a good thing, cause this way the game doesn't has to district it self to one big single area. Don't missunderstand me. i like the open world spiderman games as well. But having one with so many different areas and villains, who don't have to be somewhat connected, is pretty refreshing. heck I still own the game and play it from time to time.
    Heck lots of games I play are liniar. Screw Fallout and Skyrim. Crash bandicoot and Deponia is sometimes all I need to have some fun ^^
    Entry 4: DMC is like the only game of this series I ever played. ^^;
    5 more unpopoular personal opinions: The Order and Knack are no perfect but still very enjoyable games. Sonic unleashed is better than generation, and Sonic 3 and Knuckles is the best sonic game of all. Yes better than 2 and Mecha sonic is waaaay better than metal sonic.

      Yes the Quicktime events in Bayonetta are bullshit but there are some I tactfully like. When you have to Force Serpentia into the spider with Madama Butterflys arms and when you need to pilot Jubeleus into the sun. Yeah the second one can be a frustrating instant game over but once I got the hang of it its a really fun quick-time event.

    I agree with preferring short, linear games. I don't get much time for gaming anymore, so a big open world game would take years for me to complete. So a short, linear game is a lot better for me, which still takes a good amount of time to compete with the little time I get to play video games. Plus, I often prefer linear games anyway, since sometimes big open world games can be too complex. I've been gaming ever since the mid 80s, so perhaps I'm a bit old school.
