- This video shows my October 15th, 2017 bike ride along the Bow River and Elbow River Pathways in Downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The video begins at 21st St NW and Memorial Drive and ends the Saddle Dome Peace Bridge (1st Ave SW & 7th St SW).
In this video I am riding a Shwinn Network 2.0 hybrid style bike which I rented from HI Calgary. I filmed this using a Contour Roam 2 camera mounted to the head tube of the bike. I recorded the audio with a Panasonic voice recorder and earpiece microphone. My speed and heart rate were tracked using a Garmin handheld GPS, and I used VIRB Edit to overlay the gauges.
I hope you enjoy this video. Please leave a comment and SUBSCRIBE!

Our biking infrastructure is fantastic and growing.
Awesome, I'd love to come back and ride it again!
I biked the same path in August. So beautiful along the bow river pathway
Yes for sure!
Thanks for visiting. One of the reasons I love living in Calgary...hundreds of km of pathways all over the city.
loved it! thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
thanks for sharing. I was in Calgary last July (sadly without my bike) and was dying to try out the various trails. The city has done a nice job.
My commuter trail to work from Arbour Lake!,,
Awesome, I'm jealous!
Those excellent bike paths are popping up everywhere. Folding RECUMBENT TRIKES are the ticket for seniors who have balance issues.
Most enjoyable video. Very nice having those river pathways in the city like that.
Man, this was awesome and brought back memories! I pretty much did this same trail up to the zoo during my first visit to Calgary about 5 years ago. I can't wait to get back there.... Would love to live here!
Sadly somone broke all the glass panels on the Peace bridge this past summer but today I heard they are replacing the panels with steel cables.
Awe, that's terrible. I was actually in Calgary a few weeks ago (my first time visiting since making this video) and noticed that the bridge appeared to be under construction as I rode across it. I was quite puzzled why a bridge that was still relatively new already needed such a major overhaul.
we will definitely go there! thanks for sharing! looking forward biking this weekend
We were in the Canadian Rockies in the summer we seen Bow River on our trip, beautiful views.
Beautiful scenery there.
Thanks for sharing 😍
please somebody take me to Calgary !!!!!
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Which Garmin handheld did you use?
eTrex 30 (purchased in 2012)
We do have a ebike share program & a e scooter share program now.
No such program existed in Oct 2017 when this was filmed.
I understand that, that’s why I used the word ‘Now’ in my statement.
@@vincewhite5087 haha well yes, your edited comment does include the word "now", but the original comment that you posted (which was delivered to my inbox) did not! :P Nevertheless, thank you for the additional info!
It was edited shortly after sending the first message, while I was still watching your video.
nice!!!
nice
Thank you.
Very nice video
Would be a good video to show how to do the recording with camera& gps & how to do this overlay. A big hill in Calgary is to go north on 14th street, to Nose Hill Park.
I used free Garmin software called VIRB Edit. There are tutorials on CZcams showing how to use it.
cjhoyle so you film it with action camera and at same time you run hand held gps sync’d with heart rate monitor? Then upload both and super impose the heart rate & gps speed?
@@vincewhite5087 The Garmin software does the overlay. You just feed it with the video clip and the GPS data and it lets you sync them and add the gauge. The CZcams tutorials show this.
I wanna come here....but how I dont know.........i must go there in sleep
I live in Calgary why am I here?.?
col
Thanks.
