The Buck 104 is the perfect camp knife. Tough enough to do harder tasks, but with the hollow grind, it's slicey enough for food prep.

I think that spyderco astute is absolutely one of their best designs that could do with a material rework. It's really elegant (which isn't something that can be said for most other spydercos).

I handled some Spydercos, but I only own two, and the Astute is one of them. I like it a lot. It's only 8cr, but I can live with that - but it feels very good in the hand, and as you say, much more elegant than other Spdercos.
I believe it was designed by the same Hungarian guy who designed the Hungarian folder, which is a small plus for me as a Hungarian.

The problem for knives like the CRKT Dextro is that knives like the Sencut Serene inevitably come out around the same time and do the same thing in the same materials but are superior in every way for equal or less money. A very good knife gets overlooked because of a great one.

Interesting to see the BK 10 on this list? I didn't see this one coming. I own one and really like it. It's my beater, go everywhere blade. Size is very utilitarian, it isn't so heavy it's objectionable, and capable of most tasks. That WE Knife Co. Espirit is gorgeous, but pricey enough to question as a front flipper?

  • @charlescollier7217

Thanks, Mr. Andersen. I've always preferred the BK-10 to the BK-2. It's more than tough enough to be a survival knife, with a 3/16th" stock and a 5.5" blade, but to me it's a better camp knife because it is a far better slicer.

The SOG Flash AT is the best folder they've made in... ever, I just wish it wasn't assisted opening and was in a little better steel then "Cryo D2" but it' been a really good knife. • @Nudel-nc1cp
      @Nudel-nc1cp Před 9 měsíci

@Nudel-nc1cp the blade profile and handle shape are almost the same. The kizer has a lanyard hole. And if you want to be a pedantic piece of shit. Yes, they're completely different. The dextro looks awesome, but I can't bring myself to buy it. I've not had a very good experience with CRKT knives. I personally am not a fan of the brand. Who knows though, maybe I should check the Dextro out, it may change my opinion. If it doesn't I can give it away like I've done with every other CRKT knife I've owned. @wes.killed.it.5511 Před 9 měsíci

I'm almost positive that your knife is the Benchmade Heckler/Koch Monochrome. As for the serrations, you are correct I took a look online myself and couldn't locate a plain edge variant anywhere, however, the serrations itself wouldn't cause the model to be renamed under a different label (would likely just cause the model code ending to contain SE for serrated edge), so the model you have should still be the Monochrome despite it being a plain edge variant.

I could go on and on about this. Or you could just mind your own business. Believe it or not I didn't make the original comment expecting to have to defend my perspective.
The truth is there are so many knives out there, a person doesn't need to buy a knife made in China anymore. There are still knives that I have not tried yet that are made in Japan, and Taiwan, and countries in Europe, and heck even South American countries make knives. And of course American made knives. I could spend my entire life focusing on everything else out there and still have a great time without buying a Chinese knife. I've managed to do that for a long time. There just is too much great stuff out there from the rest of the world to waste time and space on the next WE knife or whatever it is, when I still want to try countless other things from reputable companies that are in countries that are friendly to Americans

@@mcsquirgle yet, here you are trying to defend your position. You have severe paranoid delusions. I'd wager much of what you own is Chinese made 🤣 no matter what, you can't avoid it whilst living a normal on-grid life. You use Chinese tech and products every single day and you don't even know it.

It is made for army use. So it is rugged, strong and ugly as proper military equipment should be.

I know Spyderco is super popular, but oh my... Almost every Spyderco looks so ugly to me.
I really can't understand why they are so popular.
There are so many manufacturers out there, so many, MANY, knives and yet people buy a knife that's looking like that.
And it's not even that they are good value. Their marketing division must be really great.
I am not saying that they are bad knives. But other knives are sharp as well, cheaper and more pleasing to the eye as well.
    Cough*Opinel*Cough.
I bought one those kids knives for my daughter. Less than 10€ and it is really, really sharp.
I did grind away from the spine as these edges were a bit too sharp for a kids knife. At least for my taste.
But if you haven't bought an Opinel, please do and then look at your Spyderco again.

My favorite is when the Mantis guy said it's a rare thing to run across another guy carrying a Mantis, I'm not exactly pissed off that the one I still want is in stock lol

Looks like you are just trying to sell the stock that never moves. Looks like a table of mediocrity. Which is why they don't sell.

I like the SOG and Cold Steel. as far as the rest of them: even a blind man can tell a dumpster is on fire. Hot garbage.
