Being a black man and growing up on southern rock, i got a lot of strange looks. The music just spoke to me , so i didn't even care. This was always one of my favorites! Such a simple message that means a lot. Music with heart and a message. That's what keeps it real. Thanks for venturing out beyond the hip-hop of today for a look and listen to the past.
Bless you respect of awesome music in color blind. So is love. Love so many Southern Bands and being a born Yankee who now lives in TN I am proud of America.
I'm from The Sip. In my eyes color does not mean nothing to me. God loves us all. I'd love Asia and BJ to come to the house and hang out.
You Americans are off your heads with your boxes and colour obsession 😂
AMEN Brother....we are Allllll GOD's Children!!!!!
You have good taste. Southern rock isn’t for white people-it’s for people with southern roots.
I dedicate this to my only son Daniel, who passed in 2015 at the age of 31.Miss my boy every single day. We had such awesome talks about so many things to do with mind and spirit.
I'm so sorry for your loss may he rest in peace
🕊️PEACE🕊️
I'm sorry for you're loss
@@heatherboz Thank you, Sept 14 was the 6th anniversary of his death so that was a rough day, it doesn't matter how many years pass, you never stop missing the ones you've lost. As a mom their age when they died doesn't matter either, that is still your child and of all the people I've lost his death hit me the hardest.
🙏❤
This is advice given to him by his grandmother. RIP Ronnie Steve and Cassie. Gone entirely too soon
@Geo Dio just listen to the intro of this song from the live album
Ronnie Van Zant was a lyrical genius never wrote the lyrics down just kept them in his head. He was to lyrics what Stevie Ray Vaughn was to playing the guitar. Southern Rock finest band ever 64-76,
Whoever this guy is… he knows his music because this is 100% accurate and true. Grew up hearing my dad listen to Ronnie but went on my own musical journey and 30 years later am just now starting to understand how great these guys actually were. He’s with the musical prophets
Ronnie said if you have to write it down it ain't worth remembering
Old classics like this never die
INDEED
Just watched a new documentary on this band and it was very eye opening to their absolutely ripping guitar and lyrical talents and tragedy within the band. It makes sense because they really didn’t write bad songs some bands I skip a lot this band nah every song is good in it’s ow right
I sat my son down when he was 15 and played this and explained it to him. After I'm gone he will remember our talk
my son just turned thirty years old....he has heard this song his whole life and he still turns to me this day whenever this song comes on and says..."Momma don't cry"....He is such a good boy I love him beyond reason
Good job.
My son is 42. He also has heard this song his whole life, we get same reaction.
This is what true Southern rock is.
I am a 49 year-old man. This is one of the only songs that still gives me goosebumps. It is so meaningful
I am a 62 year old man. 14 years in the Military. Stationed on 4 Continents. 25 year Retired State Trooper (SWAT). And I am with you son, it gives me goosebumps and a lump in the throat every time I hear it!!!!!!
Yesssss his voice is beautiful and the melodies to their music is incredible….y’all really need to do “Tuesdays Gone and Ballad of Curtis Lowe” now
100% need to do those. Also the story behind curtis Lowe is really fascinating.
💯
Lynyrd Skynyrd grew up near Jacksonville, FL. They pretty much introduced the world to Southern Rock with some blues thrown in. Ronnie and one of the other band members wrote this shortly after he lost his grandmother and the other person (sorry, I don’t remember which one) lost his mother. They were sitting around one night talking about how their loved ones would give them life lessons, and that’s how the song came about
I've lived in Jacksonville sine 1989 and these boys adhered to this song and stayed simple men. The people here love them.
The Whole world loves them
Allen Collins Grandmother died. they wrote alot of the great songs together.
They ARE the greatest SOUTHERN ROCK band of them all!
The lyrics of this song are truly profound, in this world where everyone chases after fame and glory and gold, the real joy of life is being a simple man or woman.
Ronnie said this song is actually his grandmother who inspired this song . Love you guys.😎🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
thank you for keeping Lynryd Skynyrd's spirits alive
I think every mother who's sending a son into the world can relate.
This is my son and my song.
Like many of us born in the 70's, this song raised me.
Shame the kids ain't got good raising songs nowadays....went into the wind mid-late 90s.
One of the best songs ever written right here!
This is as close to a perfect song that you will ever get.....FGN greatness, period.
LYNYRD SKYNYRD "ON THE HUNT"...NUFF SAID.
Great documentary on Netflix about Lynard Skynard. Its called If I Leave Here Tomorrow.
Seriously, after many years, Skynard and the E Street Band ate the greatest American bands no question.
This is one of those songs when you're feeling overwhelmed can just bring you back to center and ground you in what really matters. Live this song. Also, Shinedown has a great cover of this song.
This is from their debut album, a damn good album!
When I turned 18, I went off to college and the last words my dad said was “be a simple, kind of man”. A far cry from today’s society. But I kept his promise. And I succeeded.
Check out the Live Performance of Free Bird from Oakland. It was just a couple of months B4 the plane crash were the world lost them. Guitar solo is BEYOND EPIC. Hopefully y'all will do one for me
The one live from Knebworth was pretty cool as well.
@@michaela8706 Ur right, it really was
@@Kevin-cy4qn Yeah, Oakland is great, but the thing I like about Knebworth is the backstory how the boys stomped all over the Stones tongue. Also, you can pretty much get the whole concert. The rendition of T For Texas is awesome. Steve Gaines had just started with them. In a Skynyrd Documentary they said during that song Ronnie was watching Steve solo and big smile came across his face.
@@michaela8706 yeah, I went back & watched that thanks to u. 🙏 I ain't going lie to u, I forgot about the tongue stomp, it's been so long since I seen it. Once again, thanks for pointing that out to me, in a kind way like u did. ALOT of people would have said "Ur crazy Knebworth was better, u know nothing, with ur stupid comment" ECT.... 🤣 Which has NO type of bearing on me I could care less, don't loose any sleep over em, but u were grown about it, & I appreciate that.
"Ballad of Curtis Loew" is another one of Skynyrd`s thats awesome>>>
Asia & BJ welcome to Skynyrd Nation music that soothes your soul keep listening 🎸🎸
I use to sing this to my son's when they were babies, love this song
I use to sing this song to my son when he was just a baby. He is that kind of man, so proud. This song just hits home.
Greatest southern rock band and song ever.
You are listening to the music during my times. The music from the 70's will be around forever. The band's from our times will be known forever. I might be old but I got to see the best rock bands to ever play.
Lynyrd skynyrd-if I'm wrong 🚀🚀🚀 is the most underrated songs
Another most important thing is there's one above
Speaking of God 👋🙏🏼
In my opinion this is the best song ever written. It will touch and inspire you. They used not just .3 guitar players but 3 really good guitar players and you can hear it in their sound.
Possibly the greatest song ever recorded . There are so many great versions of this on UTube..
When that plane went down we lost so much. They made music that still stands up to time and crosses so many barriers
I enjoy your channel . I am a 58 year old white guy and you guys are the tv stars of this era.
best LYNYRD SKYNYRD song!!!!!
Shinedown did an amazing cover of this
My favored Skynyrd song. I usually like the faster paced, but this one really hits.
You wanna see an entire audience singing along, see Skynyrd in concert playing "Simple Man." At a concert a couple months after 9/11, when they played "Tuesday's Gone," the crowd was in tears as that day of the attack was a Tuesday, so it hit even harder.
Whoooo ya'll are getting closer to Shinedown! They were inspired by this very group.
This song is what everyone should be!
These same wise words have been passed on for thousands of years
Lynyrd Skynyrd Mr Banker!
They have so many great songs but I would recommend
"That Smell" to start with. A song about drugs.
got that Baves hat on...is amazing how music transcends Everything...I Love ya'll! I got new family! Thanks so much for doin what you do, share with your friends!
convos with my folks…. skynyrd teaching life rules right here
"Next" ..Shinedown".. Simple Man Cover.. Not gonna Regret it.. Knocked it Out the Ball Park 🌋🌋
" That Smell " a song of caution ✌❤
Thanks so much for doing this tune. I know Skynyrd is known for their hard rocking stuff but this is my fave of their tunes!!
Be a simple man. Words to live by.
One of my most favorite songs of all time...great reaction!!!
Now Tuesday’s Gone is their best song you’ve never heard.
I’d say listen to every song they do. With Ronnie. Every song tells a story
Unlike a lot of classic rock I’ve NEVER gotten tired of hearing this song….one of the most beautiful pieces of music I’ve ever heard
The music I grew up with was fantastic! No others way to explain it 😁
This song really meant a lot to me when I heard it in the 1970's, and it reminds me of my mom. Just be yourself, and be simple and straightforward.
Tuesday’s gone,. The ballad of Curtis Loew,. Saturday night special,. And 100 more
My favorite song out of all genre of music.
October 20, 1977 the freebird fell to the ground. The day the music died part 2.
Imagine if we hadn’t lost Ronnie and the other members lost in the plane crash... they left us with some good ol’ Southern Rock
I remember when the plane went down Tuesday is gone another great one
Live your life as this song says and you will die an old, happy, satisfied man.
I grew up in southern dive bars in sc singing karaoke
I got positive vibes for you asia you look positively beautiful
Most people think "oh, it's a rock band. Lots of noise, screaming, party music with a guitar solo. Stop and listen all you haters because gems like this are everywhere in rock. This message is probably the best because it applies to everyone everywhere.
They wrote this song after one the members grandma had died and another one's mother died also. Was written about their experience with their mom and grandma's teachings. Sad that so many kids now days don't have parents that spend enough time with them to teach life lessons.
The head singer was Ronnie VanZant, very talented singer and song writer. I enjoyed your reactions.
Asia and BJ, you should research Ronnie van Zant. He was a serious shit-kicker in the neighborhood, and when he heard the band was looking for a singer, the band was afraid to NOT let him audition. The rest is (thankfully) history.
Good story there my friend!!
This is a hell of a message and more than a song. So, educating and productive
A simple man, is a humble man.
rip to ronnie and the rest of skynard. if he didnt die at 28 years old they would have been the most famous band to walk this earth
If you like skynyard you will like some of the Grateful Dead’s songs they do a lot of folk and western music. Check out -me and my uncle, Mississippi half step, around and around, brown eyed women. Please I beg you so many people will watch your reaction!
Lynyrd Skynyrd lives on.
Whoever suggested that song, hat off for u sir, ma´m
There is absolute Truth in simplicity. This message is even more powerful today than it was all those years ago when Ronnie shared these beautiful words with the world. There is another song that will touch your heart and soul... I Had To Write It in A Song....also hauntingly beautiful and simple Truth. Ronnie Van Zant was a brilliant songwriter who left this world much too soon. Thank God we had him even for such a short time.
I really enjoyed this video!
It's just the simple language of human beings relating to each other, you know?
Ronnie Van Zant was born well before his time!
My heroes left me far to soon.
Gotta love good ole Southern Rock.
Hung with a biker gang in my younger days and when ever this played nobody talked and got silent. These were hard guys kill you and not bat an eye, but many a time they teared up.
The simple man is a good southern Christian man .
She looks like she gets it ..and is really feeling and absorbing the song/ message
"Call Me The Breeze " is one of the best Lynyrd Skynyrd songs ever. Check it out. It'll get you moving. 🥳
4sure!
I'm gonna comment before the song starts. It's at:43. Ummmm, this was my dad's favorite song. He passed away in a car accident in October 1978. I happen to like this as well. Good song. I was a toddler, so I loved this song independently.
unfortunately ronnie ( the singer who also wrote this song ) passed away just a few years later in the plane crash in 1977. every song on all their albums back then were fantastic. two other members of the band also died that night. check out their songs - tuesday's gone, and - needle and the spoon. and if you like them, and if you like guitar, check out - that smell.
One of my all time fav songs....an excellent cover of it is done by Shinedown!!
Great freakin' song !!!
In the instrumental break down, mid-song, you're hearing not one, not two, but THREE lead guitars playing in sync!
For 5 decades this song has been teaching a man lesson
How many likes or followers ain't what it's all about in this life.
Being true to your soul and heart brings real pleasure and happiness
Being Simple in ones life is real love
So cool you listen to these songs. The lyrics in our songs were how we felt.....
I am so happy you chose y request for this song...
i saw them june 16th 1977 at nassau coliseum live...a little over 4 months later they were gone...a few survived the plane crash..ronnie came out with no shoes and planted his feet and didnt move..one of the best front men ive ever seen..im 64 years old and since then i have not even seen a tribute band not even his brother who looks just like him but in my eyes it would be a step backwards...once you reach the pinnacle you stay put and keep it in your heart...next do the ballad of curtis lowe...you should see the documentary on cable
Man,that was priceless! Bj listening like, yup, that's right....Asia with the furrowed brow, lookin like she's studying for a test! XD Great song and great reaction, my friends!
you must try "on the hunt " by Lynrd Skynard, you will dig it ...
I had this song as my ringtone for the longest and now everytime I hear the song I think my phone is ringing lol
Love me some Lynard Skynyrd 💕💖
My son texted me this song and said mom when I hear this I think of you he touched my heart that he finally understands what I've tried telling him in he's younger years ✌️💯❤️
I think I read somewhere that Lynryd Skynyrd never has a song that hit #1. Close, but never actually hit #1. Which I find astounding... because they are one of the greatest bands ever. With numerous hits.
This is the song I chose to dance with my son at his wedding
Gott segne meine Freunde, das ist wirklich ein wunderschönes Lied.
