I mean, of course Tanev was their direct target, but seeing how he’s a Toronto native and local NHLers tend to rinse their NHL careers out back home, I’m wondering if he would have signed here anyways 🤷🏻♂️ Ps. The only mystery is whether he plays 50 games this year. The guy is consistently injured, past his prime and get a NMC? I thought the Leafs were the centre of the hockey universe, why do they need to bribe him with a NMC. They need a Dman who can move the puck out of the zone and skate because the team lacks speed out of the zone.

@@leafatheart The NHL warned the Leafs not to do this so yes, they’ll make a Luongo decision and it wi count against the cap. Luongo’s contract wasn’t supposed to count against the Nick’s cap but the NHL warned them and made a decision against what the rules stated.
