Megan Powell I agree as well, most of the audiences on the other talk show's seem to just laugh and overlook his words. Even the talk show host's themselves seem to belittle him. Not all, but it's almost all of them.

Right? Arsenio is the only guy who didn't try to rib him for his perceived "soft" image. He actually understood what Fred was trying to accomplish and why, and that the image wasn't a carefully constructed character but who he really was. So much respect.
And as he mentioned, also a very respectful audience!

I truly loved you as if I known you as a child…when I heard of your passing I cried real tears for you. You taught us Compassion, empathy, and to love thy neighbor regardless of our differences no matter what they might be 🥹🤍. You broke racial barriers in a time where black people were ostracized and deemed not worthy of even swimming in a public pool. You bought a black man on the show and washed his feet (biblical) and shared the same pool as him which was seen as blasphemy at that time. That spoke volumes of your heart and character, when it could of ended you within every aspect. Rest in the most beautiful flowers Mr Rogers….you will never be forgotten, and yes I will be your neighbor 🥹🤍

I know right... Not to sound corny, but he's (Mister Rogers) was so right. I was bullied so bad and picked on, and like so many children, i was afraid to tell my parents. Mister Rogers however, really did make me feel special and valued, and it helped. His personal approach on his show will always resonate with me, and i wish other children, particularly of this generation could be recipients of his sincerity... He was everything.

@@manwomanboogie that's such a sad but also heartening and inspiring thing to read. I think the sincerity he seemed to have is lost in alot of the programming and messages today too. They're trying to imitate and emulate it and apply it in "theory" but it's not coming from the same place and sadly doesn't have that profound effect(as far as I can see, just my opinion).

    • @missireason8998

I think Mr. Rogers would be horrified at children's programming today, with the violence, sexual innuendos, cultural polarization, and racial segregation as the under current...just complete opposite of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood's shows' message.
A 20-something celebrity actor recently told a talk show host that he grew up watching Family Guy.
I am a fan of Family Guy, but it is not a show for children by any means.
It made me think of how differently an adult would be who watched Mr. Rogers vs. Family Guy.
I have often thought that The Simpsons hasn't been on the air for 25 years, because adults watch it that much. It is another animation show that children are allowed to watch that isn't appropriate for them. It's been on the air so long, because several generation of children have grown up watching The Simpsons.

It is just so amazing on Arsenio gifted Mister Rogers with that jacket, but also spoke about the current issues that affected everyone then, even today. We have so much going on what with inflation, fighting and bickering between Democrats and Republicans, the riots, a lot of negativity in the press...the list can just go on and on. But Mister Rogers is absolutely right, there is no simple solution. But in times of trouble, like he said, look for the helpers. There's always someone out there willing to help when times are hard.

Beloved by so many people from so many walks of life. He made a difference by caring about how he sent his message, and how he interacted with his audience and those by whom he was interviewed. The high water mark Fred Rogers set for quality entertainment is too often almost deliberately over looked. Arsenio made the effort to speak to a human and ponder self education. To learn to help others by helping others as though they were your friend, or loved one.
