Start of the FA (Football Association) Cup semi-final match between Manchester United and Southampton at Villa Park stadium. GV. Manchester United coming out onto the field at Villa Park. LV. Rolls of paper having been thrown onto the pitch blowing in the breeze from the goal net. SV. Manchester United Captain tosses coin. LV. Supporter climbing floodlight tower. GV. Southampton kick off from left to right. CU. Banner "Up the Saints". LV. Pan, Southampton attacking. Terry Paine takes the ball down the middle. LV. Paine takes a shot but David Gaskell dives and pushes the ball away. CU. Man yelling. GV. Pan, United attacking down the right wing. GV. The ball is centred and players jump to head ball, Ron Reynolds dives and saves it. SV. Crowd cheering. GV. The United attacking, Bobby Charlton passes the ball out to right wing from where it is centred. LV. Denis Law scrambles for the ball and just kicks it over the line for United's goal. GV. Crowd cheering. LV. United attacking again. Charlton tries to beat keeper Reynolds to the ball but falls over him. The ball rolls free, there's a scramble for it on the edge of the penalty area and the goalkeeper Reynolds ends up sitting on the ball outside the area. CU. Man in crowd. LV. Noel Cantwell taking the indirect free kick just outside the penalty area. He takes the kick, the ball goes to the right of the goal and is headed back into centre. Law puts it into the net but he is off side and the goal is disallowed. GV. Crowd at half time. Manchester United 1, Southampton 0. GV. United kick off in the second half and start an attacking move. LV. United attacking. The ball is centred for the right wing but is cleared out by a defender. SV. Crowd cheering. GV. United attacking again, the ball is passed to Johnny Giles who steadies the ball. LV. He takes a shot but it is deflected from a defender. Ball goes up in the air and two players head the ball until it rolls out of play. CU. Man swinging rattle. SV. The ball is centred for the right wing by David Herd, the goalkeeper fumbles it and it rolls free. LV. United player takes a shot but Reynolds catches the ball easily and then throws up field. GV. Saints attacking, centres from the right wing but Gaskell catches it easily and kicks clear. LV. Crowd cheering. GV. Supporters running onto pitch and congratulating players. Final score Manchester United 1, Southampton 0.
