Seems like the real magic of the Harlem Globetrotters left decades ago. As a 62yo man, I’m sure I’m biased but everything just seems so over-the-top in production. Too much “Hollywood” and not enough substance. But it is what it is.
Remember the globetrotters visiting my home town in Scotland in the late 1960s. Great show good music fun to watch. Did not get the same vibe from this show it’s not so appealing. Liked the old uniform colors and clean cut players on both sides, don’t think I’d pay to watch this new team . Just not funny anymore sad to say they have lost it.
Just watched a globetrotters video from the mid fifties...now that was GREAT entertainment. Superlative ball handling, unbelievable hand eye foot coordination, great comedic timing, now you see it now you don't magic, teasing the refs and opposition with high jinks galore. It was all game long and they were professional entertainers of the highest rank....this isn't even a pale comparison. Meadowlark Lemon must be turning over in his grave.

Most of today's 'basketball' is just entertainment TV. No one follows the rules anymore. It's all about 'the show'. Dunks were interesting the first 100 times people did it; now it's just a variation on a layup that any player can do, and then they celebrate it. What nonsense.

I was fortunate to have known Carl Helem from 1981 - 2001. He played for the Globetrotters from 1948 - 1955 and was one of the original "Legends".
