Thanks for being my guide as I replaced my own battery! Definitely helps to have a project-buddy lol. I would’ve emphasized taking time on the lifting-back part though - I figured out along the way to use an old gift card to help pry it open without cracking/snapping anything off. Everything else was super simple though!

Good job..thank you. One of the main reasons I bought this laptop was because it is very easy to open and access everything on the motherboard, battery, memory, SSD etc. which makes it easy to upgrade/repair. One technical note: some folks may try to use a metal flat blade screwdriver to separate the cable from the battery: don't. Getting ready to replace my battery now too...

Just FYI of anyone reading this. I saw that the original battery only had two screws; the ones nearest the edge of the laptop were never installed. I put the two back in and the battery is firm anyway. Also, note that Percy pushes the cover back on while listening for the clicking sound to make sure it's all the way down. I didn't do this on one side and ended up cross-threading a screw so, do that.

There are magnets, and small friction clips...start at corner with finger nails or plastic prying device.. make sure all the screws are out

@@percyconnolly It was identical, so I had no issues. However, when I logged in, BiOS says my charger wasn't charged in. I used my orignal charger it has a blue circle that tells me its pulled in. Plus I let it charge for 12 hours, and it didn't charge. So my question is, would I need to get a new charger? The new battery is the voltage and everything that was written is the same minus the Dell on top of the battery. I saw on the battery that there were bubbles like the one you showed us on your old battery. I do not know what this means.

I’m not sure Matt, your saying leaving in old dead battery and only plug it in? Or remove battery and hope it powers up with only charging cord? I think with the integrated battery it needs one in there for it to power up

$70 some odd dollars for a battery and I’m still using the laptop daily or another $600 for a new laptop. Seemed wasteful as batteries are a lifetime part there is a shelf like to them
