Peters ran SOG recon on ST Rhode Island and as a strap-hanger, joining another team for one mission. On one day he could have died three times.
sogcast is the best thing on youtube
I'm Cold War era Infantry, I grew up reading about you guys in MAC-V SOG, and in the Air Cav, and the light infantry. It's amazing to get to hear you guys tell your story first hand all these years later.
Thanks for your service.
Absolutely intrigued bt the Sogcasts. Everytime I think I'm having a bad day, I think of you guys. Thank you Mr. Meyer
Same here.
Yeah! It really puts things into perspective...oh ya had a hard day at work huh? Did you get shot at all day n' night???...probably not. So please Count your blessings y'all and be grateful for a much easier time than these true mf gangsters had to deal with on a day-to-day basis! 👏
*Thank a veteran*

Like Eisenhower before.
@Greg Smith woooooooh there buddy pump the breaks on that I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you were trying to say" pure worth-while Americans" and auto correct acted up.... am I right or are you just an asshole who can't observe the human race for what it is, both flawed and beautiful through every race, color ,creed ,ethnicity, orentation and religion, the problem is people not the color of people.... especially narrow minded people like you.... unless you wanna take the easy way out I gave you... or do you stand behind what you said... honestly let's talk about it if that's really what you ment... make your case
The SOG story needs to be a Netflix series!
The Vietnam Veterans were never treated right. Thank you both for your service and bringing these stories of valor forward. 🙏🇺🇸
Jocko & John Stryker Meyer need to run for Congress. Can you imagine our capabilities as a country with men like that running the show instead of Neurological Nancy and the other career muppets? We need people who are not able to be corrupted.
He would have my vote!
Amen to that!

Sir, thank you so much for your Service, your communication in this effort, and all the other things in which you have enfluenced people in your life. Gerald.
The parents of one of your brothers were my parents neighbors. Major General Elden Bargewell. His folks had some very interesting pictures of him with presidents. My father and him talked a bit about their experiences. My dad was in the Korean conflict. I always enjoy your posts and thank you all
My uncle Joesph Applegate was stationed at Long Ben. I have so much respect for you guys. Thank you and God bless America🇺🇸
Again, amazing. Again, any one still around from 65-66? Love to hear about the beginning.
Fascinating interview. I am grateful beyond words for both of you, your service to our free nation, and to all that makes our nation great.
Man both of these guys look amazing for their age. Mid 70’s? Who would know?
I hope the people that interact with these gentlemen on a regular basis don’t take for granted the extremely cool opportunity they have. If these guys were my neighbor I would gladly fetch them beers while I mowed their lawn in the hopes they might share the occasional war story.
Tilt. Love that sarcastic laugh. you are one bad ass SOB
Never knew my hometown of bentonville arkansas would make it on sogcast, I’m honored😭
He said he didn't know how they won but it was over when the sun come up. The enemy retreated as they knew air cover and reinforcements would be there at first light. Love these podcasts. Respect. Love these blokes recollections and accounts. Quite humbling. Circumstances made them true heros. Listening to this stuff makes my trivial day to day wows not seem too bad. Again Thanks.
When I hear stories like this I have no idea how people are able to compose themselves and fight and win. It absolutely astonishes me. God bless all the soldiers.
A special breed in a crazy war in worse terrain

Thanks Tilt, this man has a fascinating life story, and tells it well. John Peters, you are truly a warrior poet. Thank you Sir.

This is what incredible content. It’s a privilege to listen to men like you guy’s share their stories. Condoned eavesdropping if you will. Thanks.
These guys are just amazing, most badass dudes to ever walk the planet yet they are just so humble. Truly amazing guys without a doubt
Best fucking podcast so glad jocko and jsm hooked up to give us sogcast
I also had experienced an encounter with one of those centipedes while in Vietnam. Fortunately a guy had this one in a screen cage. Very venomous and huge. This one was at least a foot long. Just one of many weird things I had the opportunity to see while on my tour over there.
Tilt you are one of THE most Humble Warriors and overachievers that’s ever been. My Pop flew with the Ravens and I followed in his footsteps into the U.S. Army as well. Airborne!
I bet he has some great stories as the Club Manager. 🤣 Thank you for your service, Sir!
I'm a huge fan of SOGcast. Easily the most riveting podcast being made today.

Another stellar interview by John “Stryker” Mayer. Good job ‘Tilt’
Tremendous podcast God bless you and all the members of the special forces who fought so hard in Vietnam your incredible stories should be in the library of Congress
I love listening to these heros. thank you Tilt.
This man is True Grey Man 😎😎 Can’t believe his post military career was not following his time in those incredible jobs 😉😉😉
Funny how he said it sounded like a movie. i think every story from every mission from sog. is way better than any movie could portray. respect sirs. keep it coming Tilt !!!
so happy to get to listen to another sogcast....I don't know you guys but I love you guys. (my uncle was an air America pilot, and I hope you may have ran into him back then ..his name is Arthur "sonny" Cheek...a hero to me)

I recently complained when my shower water wasn't hot enough.
Watching these episodes has made me think about luxuries like a hot shower. Trying not to take those things for granted.

Amazing isn't it?
Love how john just laughs off death conversations in that laugh of his 😂
Heh heh heh
Another great episode! Watched this one while I was working out, bc any time I felt sorry for myself I know anything I’m gonna encounter in my day won’t compare to what he went through. You and the rest of SOG are heroes

GREAT Americans🇺🇸👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
thank you
Respect from Romania.
More please!
A lot of people even now days hate army vets from wherever. Life is hard no matter who you are.
YES!!!!! Another one. Thanks Tilt. Where can I order some signed books to be delivered here in Australia ?
Great philosophy
We have giant red-headed centipedes in Missouri and there was a guy camping here that had one walk across his chest while he was asleep. Apparently their legs/feet do carry a small amount of venom, and because of the proximity to his heart it actually did kill him just by walking on him. Terrifying creatures those centipedes are....
I am present and all ears 👂
Honor to you all
Respect 🙌 🙏
So Pfc. John Peters never graduated from the Q course but still made it into SOG as a Walk-On? Incredible!
The entire SOG MAC V program drank Jocko White Tea, the rest was classified history… until now…
Another great SOGcast. Where can I purchase Tilt’s signed books?
I remember hearing about that raid. I got there in 69. Then went to northern U corps in August of 69. They tore up CCN. IN 71 IN MY SECOND tour they pulled the thing at cam rahn Bay when I was there on TDY. THEY WERE GOOD
WE NEED LYNN BLACK!! IMMEDIATELY!!
These stories are legendary! I first found John Plaster’s book when I was in high school or college. Greatly influenced my decision to join the Army. Can’t get enough of them!
I can 1000% verify that the jungles of Vietnam have centipedes larger than anything any American will find exploring our national parks. Actually found the centipede I’m referring to at the Cu Chi Tunnels site.
Amazing
YESSS! Alright a new one, i fuckin love these stories and people. They dont get enough credit for what they have done for our country. Ive been shot twice as a civilian so i can relate more that the avarage person i think, but i still cant even imagine being in those kind of senerios. shit blows my fuckin mind!!!
Love SOGcasts! Would you please consider interviewing Command Satgeant Major John Henry Brown - Army Intellegence Vietnam? He resides in Franklin, Ohio and conducted an Interview through The Cincinnati Public Library. It would be interesting, insiteful, and comprehensive to gain the perspective of boots on the ground; like with yourself and as well as the perspect of Top Intellegence Personell in a single interview regarding Secret Missions in Vietnam.
In the beginning when tilt read the date you could see in John peters eyes him going right back to that moment for a split second. second.
Sir, I have once been ripped out of bed from a dead sleep. My experience was the result of an earthquake in Jalalabad Afghanistan, while not an attack on the base, I think the surprise and disorientation could be similar.
At what time did you realise that you were losing? Despite your heroism.
If I interpret correctly John did not complete special forces training, but ended up in SOG anyway. Did he become an honorary SF member?
You're correct: I did not complete SF training. And no, I was not made an honorary SF trooper.
@@jep1979 That's too bad, especially considering you cleaned up the 'crisis' for them... Kidding aside excellent interview. Your educational background made this one fascinating.
Thanks so much for sharing the stories. The common theme I see is you guys are intelligent and probably juvenile delinquents lol but the best horses are the toughest to break. If I didn't have glasses and asthma I would have a different carrier path for sure.
GOOD.
Tilt has his shit squared away . sharp as fk
In 1969 I was a young kid but there was a time in that year something changed over night to this day I can’t explain what it was. Vietnam , landing on the moon, the riots about Vietnam , rock n roll I just don’t know. Maybe god did something.
That intro tho
