    I've been very reluctant to drive by wire systems but you've made some good points as of it's advantages while being able to tune it.

    The advantage of drive by wire is you can run cruise control and the ecm can open and close the throttle based on emissions. The motor gears are plastic and weak and and will get clogged up with PCV gunk. Now throw a limp mode in there and you are stuck on the side of the road and if it keeps going and gets worse. It will always be stuck in limp mode. You will sell your car and buy a new car. There is no way for the average driver to find why its not working. Could be the throttle body, could be the PCM or the pedal itself. All because they thought it would be a good idea to get rid of the cable that worked and couldn't malfunction. Took me almost 2 months to figure out why a hemi jeep kept going into limp mode. Turns out it was a combination of the pedal showing too much voltage (5 volts instead of 4.5v) the PCM being easy to trip into limp mode and a mess of wires that went the ABS being pulled out of their sockets and being put back wrong before the limp mode stopped. Now with other stuff like the cats failing early and normal wear and tare. Most people would give up and sell it. Luckily I am curious and wanted to know what happened and why a rebuild hemi wouldn't go around the block. I learned all about modern cars and computers from start to finish. Makes sense why an old car like my 87 mustang is still around. Everything wasn't over complicated to the point of useless if something small breaks. Its not worth the ABS and Traction control or even the cruise control to have ETC.

    I've got to try one of these haltech units. Every single electronic throttle I've come across has felt like utter dogsh!t, but those have all been OEM units built to make the mediocre appear like limo drivers.
    It'd be interesting to try one built with good drivers in mind.

    Will the Elite support duel DBW? I'm wanting to use two Nissan 370Z or 350Z Electronic TBs for a custom application. If it does not support those Nissan TBs, are there any others that it will support in a duel configuration? Thanks.

    Can you use the DBW functionality to target specific bins on the fueling/VE tables when running on a dyno?

    Hi Matt. Do you think drag racing will allow DBW? Here in NZ they only allow OEM. I’ve written to them as it seems out of date but any feedback would be great. It’s a 1000hp LS in a commodore street car.

    What would you say to the possibility of 'drive by wire' creating lag in the throttle response? My car has a good old fashioned throttle cable and is almost instantaneous with power, where as my grandad's (albeit slow shopping car with electronic throttle) has quite a big lag between putting adjustments in, it made it quite hard to drive smoothly.

    • @alex47style
      @alex47style Před 8 lety +1

      +vanepico ride by wire reduce lag for turbo car and improove turbo respons. for n/a car you can gain torque or hp by closing or opening th TB at certain rpm if you dont have Valve timing.... lag is only because dut to factory set-up on non-performance car

    Hello Haltech you did mention anti lag but it also possible to setup the drive by wire to run cold overrun like in formula one cars. When I left off the gas no fuel is injected but the throttle blade is left open to reduce blow by and cool the exhaust valves can this be tuned with the Haltech elite as well can a sequential transmission be tuned with drive by wire to have a no clutch downshift by first cutting power to the down shift then automatically blipping throttle to match wheel to engine speed ? Thank you for your time

    • @haltech
      @haltech  Před 8 lety +2

      +Gio Alviz The Elite does not currently support throttle opening on decel cut, or blip on downshift (cut on upshift only), however these features are proposed for future firmware updates.

    I have problems with my dbw sistem on my halltech,for some reason my car when I press gas all the way down after that throttle responded die don’t do anything and I need to turn off the car start again and read throttle again,already change throttle and pedal position sensor and still do the same thing

    You lost me at "Better throttle response", you people are hilarious. As long as there is no direct link between the throttle body and the pedal with no interruptions, it will never have the instant response of a cable. Cable for ever.
