- Memorial Tribute Video for Chrissy Amphlett (Christine Joy Amphlett) of the Divinyls. Chrissy was born October 25, 1959 and died April 21st, 2013. Chrissy died after a long battle with breast cancer and also suffered from multiple sclerosis. Chrissy's music was an integral part of my youth and I truly will miss her. RIP Chrissy!!! You will be greatly missed!!! I chose this song Make out Alright because it was one of my favorite songs of hers that always kept me hopeful ~ Marisol

Can’t believe I just found out yesterday that she passed. Loved their music back in the day even though I was really into more progressive rock. She was a truly unique talent that I greatly admired, and I think they never really got their due as a band. I’m sure that she’s moved on to a much better place where she’s rocking out and kicking ass with the multitude of rock legends who’ve also passed on. Miss you Chrissy. Your absence leaves a hole that can never be filled.
I hope Divinyls are remembered for more than, "I touch myself',,,their best music was released in the '80's,,,

I got to see Divinyls live in the US, a few years before they got big. I immediately went out & bought both their CDs. My favorite song of hers was, "I'm on your side".

In my eyes Chrissy is an Aussie rock legend, I feel privileged to have grown up with a lot of these Aussie bands in the 80s
I was very fond of a number of Aussie bands, thanks to Mtv, music magazines, etc., which allowed me access from the USA...INXS, The Church, Midnight Oil, AC/DC...🇦🇺

Great tribute. A true Australian star, under rated and never appreciated enough in Australia. I was waiting to see a tribute on TV but it never happened. An original thinker, true talent, such a likable lady. They'll never be another Chrissy

Maybe not so much appreciated in Australia but for the rest of the world was one of the greatest. Especially the song "I touch myself" is legendary.
She always did a great show and loved the days I could watch her on a Sunday at the local for $5, beautiful Talented Show Girl Rocker, Standing at the stage at the left side speakers she would put me in another world.

Well done! I remember a friend and I skipping work to drive 400 miles to go see them. Our boss was pissed....until he found out where we went. Then he was pissed that we didn't tell him and have him go with us. Who knew our boss was a Divinyls fan. Ah! The early 90's were so full of great music and memories.

I saw her for the Desperate tour. They were one of the few bands that sound better live than on their cd's. I am so glad I got to see her in concert. She will be missed, but her music will live on forever.

That is an awesome story!! The '90s were just so great, carefree, easy. I remember winning a "BarBimbo" (ya I know pretty bad) contest when I danced to the Divinyls song "I Touch Myself". It was so much fun and so shocking to others that night!!!
When I saw Divinyls in 93 at the San Francisco Warfield she got down on floor during the song and rolled around touching herself BIG time. I'll never forget it.

I just found out Chrissy died in 2013. I worked at the studio where they recorded the 1991 record. I will never forget the great fun and music. And Charley Drayton What an honor. And loss.

Chrissy has a way of becoming an instant rock legend for those previously unfamiliar with her music and are suddenly discovering what they've missed. I envy them, because they may be on the verge of a very pleasant epiphany. I love this album and have it, but I think the best place to start a Divinyls exploration is near the beginning with ''Desperate''...either album configuation.

Chrissy had courage to really share with us what's on a girl's mind and what;s in her heart and soul. She gave so much in a performance. I was lucky enough to see her perform in the late 70's when I was very young. Thankyou Chrissy. R.I.P.

holy crapola,..2015 and this is only just news to me,..bad news at that,..my god I never had a clue,..really pissed me off that,..so R.I.P Chrissy,..will never be forgotten...
until the end of the show. She went an got the purse and gave it back to the irate one. It was the coolest thing to all of us who were watching. I think she curtsied the girl. What a great band and what a voice. She commanded the whole room. Ironically I had been listening and studying them every night and just finished a cover of "Back to the wall" and posted it on my page right before she left us. That show was at Caesar's Tahoe and one of the best shows ever. Maximum Respect

Funny that a 14 year old Florida guy in the US, introduced to Divinyls through a friend from England, would be able to "be there" from the beginning, was given the Desperate album by my friend at that time, and I was mesmerized, Chrissy had such a deep impact on my early songwriting, (Started writing lyrical poetry when was 11). She was instantly an Idol of mine, we have the same color hair, and to this DAY I still wear my hair in the same style she did in the Desperate and What A Life era. (Actually works real well on a punk/pop, post-grunge skater boy...lol) I think I cried for a week on and off when she died. I still listen to her cds often and probably always will.
