Goodness, this took me back! That whine from the Moss gearbox... My 1961 Jaguar Mk II 3.4 was rather disconcerting, in that I could watch the rev-counter go up and see a corresponding decrease on the fuel gauge. It was a lovely car, when it was actually running... I owned her (890 WTC) in 1967 and she looked beautiful in her metallic bronze and red leather interior, but there was no power steering, so parking developed one's arm muscles! Unfortunately, my RAF pay was insufficient to meet the interminable garage bills, so we parted company after a relatively brief affair.

Great to see VAG 72 looking so well. Bought new by my uncle, Jim Brown in 1962, the car spent its early days in the village of Muirkirk in Ayrshire. A very little used car in its day so I would think the mileage is correct. I last saw this car in Ayr, sometime in the 1980's I would think; it looked well cared for then.

I bought my mark 2 in 1977 it was a 1964 2.4 automatic with only 43 thousand miles on the clock the car was originally owned by chivas regal whiskey 🥃 company from paisley Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 it was a dark maroon with red leather it was absolutely mint condition as it had been garaged and chauffeur driven from new I only paid £700 for it I used it as my daily driver for 2 years until I was on the motorway just outside Glasgow on my way to work I was overtaking a french registration articulated lorry when he came into my lane and crushed me into the crash barrier he never stopped sadly my beautiful jag was written off by the insurance company when I look at the price of just a basic one today I wish I had put my one into storage I can’t imagine what it would be worth now 2023

The door gaps are nice and consistent but they are wide!! I've own a 1964 MK2 that has spent most of it's life in California hence an original, Unwelded/Bodged bodyshell and i can tell you my door gaps are so much more narrow! Top tip with a moss gearbox is to drain and refill the oil with 'Redline MTF' It will shift so much better!

Lovely example! Beautiful sound! But boy were they a disaster for reliability. Much preferred my Mark VIII. Wish you had a better mic, but enjoy your videos. Cheers.

Hi Steven. I didnt know they had an unreliably rep.. What were the things that caused this..GN

@@GlesgaNews I personally never had a Mark II, but a friend of mine had one and he was always having problems with the electrical components and wiring. The engines and transmissions were pretty stout! The worst problems for owners in the US, was when I had my XK120's and Mark VIII, as well as Triumph TR-3 and MG A and MG B were parts availability. And the quality control of those parts sometimes. When I had mine from 1966 to 1970, they were 10-15 years old and they just did not age well. But I loved them nonetheless!
