    This is great.
I started playing guitar back in 1974, mostly because my Father introduced me to the music of Chet Atkins.
And while Chet Atkins' playing opened my eyes to guitar I mostly played Rock & Roll.
Fast forward 40+ years, I've been a Practicing Guitarist for decades and can learn most anything by ear.
However, in the back of my mind I always knew there was so much more I don't know about playing guitar than what I do know.
Your Travis Fingerstyle Blues Lesson has taught me how to do this in just an hour of practice!
And now for the "kicker", I FINALLY feel like I'm playing "Grown Up/Adult" music on the guitar!
I'm sure my Father is watching me from far above now!
Thank You Brian, I just signed up for a Monthly Subscription to Active Melody.

Hey Brian - I'd love to see a video where you walk through your guitars; what you like about them, what you don't, what they inspire you to play, how you like them set up, the sounds you can get out of them.
I don't think it would be considered overly flashy - people appreciate the fortunate position you're in!

    • @hkguitar1984
      @hkguitar1984 Před 3 lety +3

I agree with you, if enough subscribers request it I don't think it would be considered a "flex" in any way.
Guitars are so personal, chosen for a variety of reasons.
I've found that the guitars in my collection were chosen because each inspires me in a different way.

Great lesson. Such a useful pattern that can be used to accomany lots of songs (I'm thinking JJ Cale and Johny Cash of the top of my head but certainly not limited to that). I've been learning guitar for about 3 years and I love this stuff. I like you analogy of your fingers 'dancing' it really describes how you get that rhythm and some malisma into those off beat notes (which I find the hardest to get the feel of). As you say, start slow and get the basic rhythm right and then start fitting those riff notes in. As with anything the tab is a great place to start but that feel comes from a different place. If you like this then you'll probably enjoy this one as well (czcams.com/video/2y9sZd2Wdwg/video.html) which is very simliar to what is being taught above. Good luck everyone.

Here's a laugh for you, Brian:
As you know know from our email conversations, Brian, I've worked with and am family friends with Tommy.
He often laughs his ass off at me when I often tell him that after all these years playing I just can't get that fkn thumb going.
I've sat right there up close watching him, I've done his online courses, I've been back stage with him as he's jamming - nada.
    My brain is sh!t. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
    But I continue to try.
Wouldn't it be funny if this lesson of yours, which I have to say is great, was the ice breaker that got me there after all this time?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
